Very cool.

Alas, it's doubtful we'll learn anything more than if the atmosphere *could* support life, but shoot, if any or especially if multiple have atmospheres that could sustain life and liquid water, hot dang.

And they aren't even that far out there.  I mean, they're not close, but on galactic scales, they're basically next door.

That system may be tough sell if they are all tidal-locked facing the star.  But its just a matter of time until we find a planet(s) that fit the bill.  Odds are if a find a system with mulitple goldilock zone planets, it will be early in the solar system's history, before imperfections take their toll like what happened on Venus and Mars.

Too bad we'll probably never be able to get there. It would take 50k years with current rocket technology to get to Alpha Centauri (4 LY away). 40 light years is like our cosmological next door neighbor, but even with an exponential increase in propulsion technology, it would still take us thousands of years to get there.

Boo to you, big ass cosmos.

There's work on there about fusion rockets and the potential for 10% the speed of light.  That's a start.

That's a good start. Now to perfect shield technology. Wouldn't want a few specks of dust ripping through your spacecraft during hypersleep...
