Gibbs Hog Heaven
Embarrassing, depressing, but sadly predictable from the increasing number of right wing, insular, xenophobic, racist little Englanders. We've followed the scaremongering, Nazi-esq propaganda rhetoric of absolute low life POS Farage, Griffin and Johnson. All we need is you guys to now vote in another as President and we can all go under together. ANYONE that listens to ANY of those without a gun pointed at there head I just can't begin to ..... Little consolation, but I'm just glad I live in one of the most politically savvy City's here who wasn't swayed by the lies and hate and stuck true to our diverse, accepting heritage of embracing everyone to be one of the few English City's that actually voted to remain. Black Friday. But it is what it is and we now need to try make the best of this mess for our future. Hail.

Ireland has the EU's fastest-growing economy but also more to lose than any other member state from a 'Brexit' with far-reaching implications for its trade, economy, security of energy supplies and peace in British-ruled Northern Ireland. Within minutes of the outcome becoming apparent, Northern Ireland's largest Irish nationalist party, Sinn Fein, said the result intensified the case for a vote on whether Northern Ireland should leave the United Kingdom. Of most concern to Dublin is the impact on Northern Ireland, which has the only land frontier between the United Kingdom and the rest of the EU. It was marked by military checkpoints until a 1998 peace deal ended three decades of sectarian violence. Flanagan said the reintroduction of a hard border would have to be considered in any negotiation and that the return of controls, for customs or security, could pose a difficult challenge for the peace process. The dismantling of military border posts was a key aspect of a 1998 peace deal that ended three decades of violence between Catholic nationalists seeking a united Ireland and Protestant unionists who wanted to keep Northern Ireland British. Over 3,600 died in the conflict. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/jun/24/european-far-right-hails-britains-brexit-vote-marine-le-pen?CMP=twt_gu European far right hails Britain's Brexit vote Europe’s far-right parties hailed the UK’s vote to leave the European Union as a victory for their own anti-immigrant and anti-EU stance and vowed to push for similar referendums in their own countries. https://twitter.com/GMB/status/746218028195426305 WATCH: @Nigel_Farage tells @susannareid100 it was a 'mistake' for Leave to claim there'd be £350M a week for NHS Nigel Farage live on GMB following #Brexit1:46 AM Edited June 24, 2016 by visionary
Destino
Anyone have a good link that explains Brexit? One that isn't "those folks are all racist!" or "those folks are all globalists!" I've read some but it's been mostly CNN level articles, short and light on detail. I feel bad that I wasn't paying more attention to this, I never really thought they'd actually vote to leave. I'm also kind of tempted to tune into the Euro Cup now. Wales is playing Northern Ireland (Brexit battle!) and I want to see the crowd reception the English team gets in France, that no doubt feels a bit rejected after this vote.
s0crates
I cannot believe I'm agreeing with conservatives (again), but it sounds like the EU is totally undemocratic. Will Britain be the outward-looking, entrepreneurial, confident country that makes its independent way in the world, as the leaders of the Leave campaign insisted it could be? Or will it retreat to become a Little England, nationalist and a touch xenophobic, responding to the voters that drove it to quit the European Union? Even more important: Will it even hold together? With Scotland deeply pro-European, pressure will increase for another independence referendum that could bring an end to the United Kingdom. Britain, a nation whose storied history has encompassed the birth of constitutional government, global empire, royal pageantry and heroic defense against fascism, is entering unknown territory. The questions about its new path could remain unresolved for years. On Friday morning, at least, Britain remained a member of the European Union in full standing, just as it was 24 hours earlier. But the impact of this plebiscite is likely to be profound and long-lasting, well beyond the immediate tumult in the financial markets, and the questions about Britain’s future will be answered against the backdrop of potential political, legal and economic upheaval. http://www.nytimes.com/live/eu-referendum/the-implications-of-britains-exit/?smid=tw-nytimesworld&smtyp=cur E.U. Gibbs Hog Heaven
And there's the first major lie to come out. The 'leave' campaign said the £350 million that we 'spend' on the EU (scandalous rhetoric in itself without the net with all the subsidies we get back) will go to the NHS ..... Now Farage has a complete backtrack on that. This has to be first for someone to backtrack on a major campaign point SO soon after winning the vote! The only good thing I can see out of this is Scotland are talking another referendum to leave the UK and stay in the EU ..... Weakening the UK even further. But great for them. I'm really enjoying the dramatics on twitter right now. Especially the hatred of old people for daring to disagree with young people. It's all their fault you understand, they've got charts and everything. I wonder when people will start saying "you know, I miss being 20. I was so much wiser then." Just been looking at the demographic of voters. Mostly over '50's. Who won't feel the brunt of this but the younger generations will. Hail. You don't see todays and future generations being put more at risk from an older generation who will be around a lot less time than them voting on that future for many of the wrong reasons? 75% of 17-25 year olds voted to remain.
