Is this guy a bad coach or is he just not intelligent?

Guys were wide open and Ramsey didn't see them. Sometimes the blitz was coming in one direction and Ramsey never looked that way to see guys open. Say what you want, but that's not Spurrier. Spurrier can't yell into the radio and tell Patrick to look to his right to see 2 WR's on one DB.

The play that Coles went to the middle of the field and Ramsey threw right was a prime example. The blitz dictated that the middle of the field was wide open, Coles saw that and altered his route, Ramsey didn't see it... It was a sure touchdown, all Ramsey had to do was lob it down the middle of the field.

Coach Steve Spurrier

Q: What are your thoughts about the game?

A: Well, I am not going to get on my players any more this season. We are what we are. Offensively, we wouldn't stay on the field, and the Cowboys played well tonight. We struggled on offense and called maximum protections, but we were just not smart enough to pick it up; the Cowboys outplayed us.

EXACTLY where does that quote indicate Spurrier has given up?

It is more he is not going to bash his players in the media (ala Buffalo game) but even then read the last sentence.

But realistically there is a point when screaming and hollering just doesn't work any more. It is time to sit down and rationally think out what can be done to correct what is going wrong.

Michael Irvin (of all people) made a point yesterday that made sense, Spurrier has to realize that everything he says in the NFL is being read by everyone. Spurrier is too honest in his remarks at times. Spurrier is so emotional and wears his heart on his sleeve, asking him questions right after a game is dangerous, his answers are emotionally filled, instead of thought out comments after he has had time to reflect clearly about the game, This is why he always seems to be recanting what he says on Sunday the following Monday.

In response to those blitz questions, the reason Ramsey couldn't hit the guys that were wideopen is because we don't have hot receivers. The WRs run the same pattern whether there's a blitz or not. This takes away the dump off over the middle to a RB who has all green in front of him. Smart scheme.

We have hot reads normally, but when you max protect like everyone said Spurrier needed to do, you take away the hot read player. He is staying in to block. Washington keep the RB in to block as well as the TE. The theory is with Max protection the QB would have enough time to throw you don't need a dump off guy.

That didn't work either
