REDSKINS MAKE ROSTER MOVES

RICHMOND, Va. – The Washington Redskins announced today that they have signed defensive lineman Jeremy Towns. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Earlier in the week, the team waived-injured wide receiver Jerry Rice, Jr.

Towns (6-4, 290) enters the league as a college free agent out of Samford, where he appeared in 45 career games across the 2008-13 seasons. Last season, he compiled 54 tackles (36 solo), 2.5 sacks and a forced fumble in 13 games.

Towns, 25, attended Wenonah H.S. in Birmingham, Ala., where he was valedictorian of his high school class and was named to the Birmingham Athletic Partnership All-Defensive Team. He was born on March 9, 1989.

Rice, Jr. (5-10, 185) originally signed with the Redskins as a college free agent on June 26, 2014.
