I can't think of anything more stupid than putting out a betting line on the first games now. Good lord.

maybe not more stupid but...this from Chris Wesseling;

The 2012 non-playoff team that has perhaps the best chance of advancing deep into the postseason this year is the Dallas Cowboys. Returning a relatively strong roster, the Cowboys face just one of NFL's top-five powerhouses. It can be argued fairly that every game on their schedule is winnable. He says this is based on their "easy slate".

even if their schedule is that easy (IMO not that easy); still a favorable schedule might get you to the playoffs but not really a help to go deep.
