this weeks "National Journal" has the "insiders poll" on who people think have a better chance of winning a general election between Mitt and Newt:

(note, this is supposedly ONLY polling "High Powered Washington Insiders" on the question)

democrat insiders: 86% think Mitt would have better chance of beating Obama than Newt would

republican insiders: 83% think Mitt would have better chance of beating Obama than Newt would

I am surprised it is not 100%. Even though Newt would own Obama in the debates and run a great campaign, the press would crucify him. Romney is a solid debater (not nearly of Newt's level), but he would get much gentler press coverage.

So they asked the establishment if Mitt the establishment would be better in winning an establishment seat? and they agreed with each other.

take it however you will....

(but to repeat Larry's point... implying that the former Speaker of the House is an anti-establishment candidate is stretching credibility a bit, no?)
