Oldskool
Steelers agree to terms with T Flozell Adams on a multi-year deal. Adams, 35, visited the Steelers in late June and took a physical. He would replace right tackle Willie Colon, who is out for the season after tearing his right Achilles' tendon during an offseason workout. Pittsburgh coaches are determining the best fit for Adams, according to a source. The Steelers won a Super Bowl with left tackle Max Starks playing on the right side, and it could be the case that Adams, a longtime stalwart at left tackle for the Dallas Cowboys, will be on that side in Pittsburgh. The Cowboys released Adams early this offseason to avoid paying his $6.5 million salary, and though his pay has declined with age, he was seen as many as the best tackle on the market. At least four teams had interest in Adams, who had been seeking a deal in the $3 million-to-$4 million range per season

Mordac
If they're smart, they'll play him on the right side. He doesn't have the feet to play on the left anymore. I think the Steelers will be happy with what they get, tho.
clskinsfan
Well they just bought themselves 4-5 false start penalties per game.
Mordac
Well they just bought themselves 4-5 false start penalties per game. Well, the most false starts he's ever had in a year is 9, so I guess you're sort of kidding, but not really? Is he ever going to another pro-bowl? No. Is he going to whiff on speed rushers once in a while? Yep. Does he sometimes hold or trip when he's beat? Uh-huh. But I still say he's good enough to start, at least for this year. GhostofSparta
My buddy who's a Steelers' fan says the team is considering making Slowzell a backup, kicking their starting G out to T, and starting their rookie G this year.
darklight1216
Well they just bought themselves 4-5 false start penalties per game. That's what I was thinking too, but the Steelers have a way of avoiding untimely penalties most of the time, so he could get away with more than he usually does. bulldog
And there were people that were criticizing Shanahan for trading for Jammal Brown?

bulldog
Baltimore to me is a serious Super Bowl threat in the AFC. A lot of attention is going to the Jets who made hay in the playoffs after going 9-7, but Baltimore has a more solid team position by position. I don't think Pittsburgh is going to do more than 7-9 or 8-8 this season. Cleveland is awful. Cincinnati will be hard-pressed to repeat the double digit win total from 2009. The Bengals depended upon Benson in the run game and stopping people on defense and yet for 2010 the Bengals acquired TO and now with Benson's injury are expected to throw the ball more. That may not be a recipe for success based on the Bengals past history.

The Bengals haven't made the playoffs in back-to-back seasons since the '80s. The Steelers are the Steelers and you have to take them seriously... usually. The Browns are the Browns.
