airs0ft3r
I thought we actually had some great news when I looked on NFL.com. The Skins Defense is number 5 overall and 2 against the pass. We actually have a very elite defense again. I can't wait to see us tear apart Ryan (even though he did pass for a whole load against the 49ers). http://www.nfl.com/stats/team For those of you who say, "well, we've played bad teams so far," just shut up and enjoy the moment. There's not a lot to be proud of as skin's fans.
Destino
Funny when you consider how much heat the team gets for giving "cushions" and all kinds of other criticisms. The defense is very good.
Prosperity
We give up very little pass yards... except for 3rd downs But I have to say our pass rushing D has been the best thing about this year. Always fun to see sacks
skins island connection
Well thats a bit of refreshing news, but the Skins are about to encounter tougher and more aggressive opponents in the coming weeks, and I hope they have their track shoes on. I would love to see the offense pick it up a few notches, and the defense has for the most part kept them in the game to the end, so i'll be hoping for the best... fire5man80
Top 5 defense, and how long have they been on the field compared to the 4 better defenses. Thats what I would like to see. With an offense unable to sustain drives, the defense is definately put at a disadvantage.

We have a good, not great, D.
MustangSteve
This is unbelievable considering our poor defense stays on the field 3/4 of the game. Imagine how good they would be if our offense could hog the ball and even score some points to encourage them even more.
hitmandm
Lets get a grip people. i like our defense, but we have had the easiest schedule ever in the history of football over 7 games. Wait to see what our d looks like the second half.
#98QBKiller
The defense has been great for a few years now and I'm very proud of them. I just hope that we can get an offense to reciprocate in the next few years before it's too late.
Mark The Homer
Lets get a grip people. i like our defense, but we have had the easiest schedule ever in the history of football over 7 games. ... ...and we have the hardest schedule in the league pending. @DCGoldPants
That's a Larry Michael stat. Its a nice sidenote when you're a winning team. But when you still give up the big play on both sides of the ball. That's not reflected in the stats. Why? Because a big play could be a QB breaking a CB's ankles for a needed 1st down. Kindred
as people LOVE to say and believe around here, defense wins championships...unfortunately it doesnt get us to those championship games.
SonOfWashington
Imagine if we had an offense that wasn't offensive.
Dark Acre
It's also not fair to the D to be on the field as much as it is because the O can't stay on it.
hitmandm
...and we have the hardest schedule in the league pending. And those future games impact our #2 passing defense ranking how....??
CaliforniaSkin
And 5 of the 7 teams we've played are ranked 21st, 23rd, 24th, 25th & 30th in passing. The other two teams (11th & 13th) had 2 score leads in the 2nd half and were running to run out the clock.
hitmandm
as people LOVE to say and believe around here, defense wins championships...unfortunately it doesnt get us to those championship games. QBs win championships. Its been true for decades- but even more so lately as the nfl has transitioned into a QB passing offense first league
HoyaSkins28
Thats because were always behind so teams just attempt to run the ball. Haha no in all seriousness the defense has been excellent all year, this is just a prime example of that.
IrepDC
I'd rather be ranked a little lower in pass defense and have a few more turnovers like a Green Bay or Philly secondary. We need to play more aggresive.

joeknows
i guess it is a good thing that the defense on this team is my favorite part of the game because i sure have gotten to see them play plenty of minutes this year.... just think.... if they didnt have to play 40 minutes a game they would be number one for sure..... D_Alx
I agree with hoyaskins, I'd like our d to have the chance to prove that isn't because we're playing from behind often.
Brett81
Just wanted to throw this out there...I know not many are happy with the receiving corp either, but if we had a guy like Drew Brees chucking the ball around the field all day... Is anybody else thinking the SKINS could be undefeated like the AINT'S??? I understand the o-line is still an issue, but even a semi-healthy o-line with a QB like Brees...and our D is sitting on the sidelines reading Reader's Digest most of the game. GoSkins561
...and we have the hardest schedule in the league pending. .....which should help us determine if we need to blow the whole team up, or just the offence.
Drastik
cant be considered an elite defense when we have 3 interceptions through 7 games... all by one person at that
