Forehead
so they evolved from a punk band and made money, whats the big deal, have yet to listen to uno, but the 2 albums before that, 21st century and idiot, are amazing, you can listen to it first to last countless times, and since its a rock opera it just sucks you right in That's the attitude I always see from people who were "fans of them before they got big." You're always a sellout if God forbid, you want to make some money off your music.
China
The big deal is I think their music sucks and is responsible for the dearth of fake punk (or poppunk) banks over the last 2 decades. Without Green Day, we'd have no Blink 182 and the like. Wait, you're complaining that there aren't enough fake punk bands?
RVAbrendan
greenspandan is spot on. Green Day began with humble roots and gained popularity and molded their success. I can't say I'm a big fan, but I have always enjoyed Dookie, Kerplunk, and a few other of their albums. I try not to get sucked into the whole "this is punk/this isnt punk argument…"it makes me feel like I'm in highschool. But I'm a Ramones fan too so who knows what I know
