KNGwithOUTaCrwN
Going off the 'something that should be experienced' thread and my own thoughts... i have at times wondered what it is like to live a life with daily chaos and hardships or experience first hard, a crazy once in a lifetime chaotic event. You see these kinda things in movies, looking back in history, and also recent and present times. What i mean is, like for example, imagine just being dropped right in the middle of a country filled and torn with war and having to live your life in terror and fearing what may happen at any second. (think about what the palestinians and israelis had to go through when all those rockets were raining down on their homes and soldiers invading their communities). Or picture yourself in the middle of the plot of war of the worlds or cloverfield. panic, destruction, confusion, terror. even the holocaust is another example. terrible times. we've all heard personal stories, learned about it in school, watched movies, seen picture or video clips...ever really, seriously, imagined what it would be like if you were a part of times like that. Have any of you ever imagined yourself having to deal with these kinda things first hand if it were to happen? I have thought about it numerous times and almost wish i could just be there when things like that happen. the adrenaline rush, the fear that takes you over. having to bring out the courage and bravery from within you just to live through the day, to see the sun rise the next morning..... Califan007 The Constipated
Other than the holocaust example, I understand what you're meaning...I personally wouldn't want 2 million people to be killed in order for me to experience an adrenaline rush lol... Teller
There is an old Chinese proverb:May you live in interesting times. There's another one... "May the road always rise to meet you." WTF? Why would you want my whole life to be an uphill struggle, a-hole?
KNGwithOUTaCrwN
Other than the holocaust example, I understand what you're meaning...I personally wouldn't want 2 million people to be killed in order for me to experience an adrenaline rush lol... i dont mean that people need to die or there is an adrenaline rush that you experience when there is death, i was just giving another example of when people were living in dangerous times, filled with fear....and the feeling inside you when you almost have to fight for your life or you are working hard to overcome an obstacle.....the adrenaline refers more to like if you were running for your life in war of the worlds or something. Kunia5
The Irish poet W.B. Yeats tried to write a poem expressing chaos loosed upon the world. I'm pretty sure his intentions were religious; but the first part has been quoted very often concerning the descent of order. "Turning and turning in the widening gyre The falcon cannot hear the falconer; Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold; Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world, The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere The ceremony of innocence is drowned; The best lack all conviction, while the worst Are full of passionate intensity. Surely some revelation is at hand; Surely the Second Coming is at hand. The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out When a vast image out of Spritus Mundi Troubles my sight: somewhere in the sands of the desert A shape with lion body and the head of a man, A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun, Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it Reel shadows of the indignant desert birds. The darkness drops again; but now I know That twenty centuries of stony sleep were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle, And what rough beast, its hour come round at last, Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born? 1920 "
RammsteinSkins
I would like to do that, regardless of ending because adrenaline is the best feeling ever. You feel like nothing can stop you.
KNGwithOUTaCrwN
another example for a chaotic event would be the fighting in terminator. imagine your world, being taken over by machines, and you have to run and hide and even fight your way through the day to survive. gbear
Try talking with rape victem. I doubt very much that those who have lived through the anarchy you seem to seek would recomend it. The loss of control, the search for some sort of slavation be it internal or external with a loss of anything remotely resembling control isn't something I would wish apon anybody. You seem to seek it only kowing you will come through it stronger. That's a nice fairy tale. Almost everybody I've talked to who has gone through the experiences you seem to glorify comes out scarred. It's why I believe the Chinese saying "May you live in interesting times" is frequently viewed as a curse. We all experience hardships. When you see somebody with their head down on the street, stop and ask them what's going on, if they're ok? We all have a tale to be spun. We all have things we can't control. Try talking to others about their hardships. I learned a while back that just watching and listening let me for go the pleasure of some of life's great hardships simply because I learned "ok so I don't want to do that because I saw X try it." I don't need to experience every bad thing personally. I wouldn't wish that loss of control from the OP to accelerate in my life. As somebody with MS trying to raise kids with medical issues, I've seen enough. My wife and I once sort of joked that us taking care of medically fragile kids put us in a better position than those having kids of their own. We knew the medical problems going in. We had control to only take what we thought we could handle. As it is, I could wake up tomorrow unable to see or walk. I wouldn't wish that on anybody mearly for the adventure. Still, I know I'll rise to it if it happens...but I have no desire to test that assumption. We all have breaking points. Good luck. I hope you find the adventure you seek...and you come through it with mind, body and soul in tact.
The 12th Commandment
99.9% of the people that lived through those events would want exactly the opposite. I'm with you though, it would be something to live by your wits and skill. I'm guessing it's the 'grass is always greener' syndrome.
