NWA - Niggaz 4 Life

Snoop Dogg - Doggystyle

Tupac - All Eyez on Me

first off, thank you for this thread. it gets me out of those damn political threads for a little while at least.

Cut Creator (LL Cool J) was a great DJ

Jazzy Jeff was a great DJ and Summertime is STILL a great jam.

Timbaland makes dope beats to me.

Pharrell makes really good beats but he annoys me.

One of the best shows I saw in the 90s was Beastie Boys, Ice Cube and Da Lench Mob, and Rollins Band at Roseland.

I saw Ice Cube, DEL and Yo Yo in 1990 in DC. I was the ONLY white boy there but it was all good. I was used to it.

It was his "kill at will" tour. Mr Bobdobalyna was DELs big song and Yo Yo had that one song "you cant play with my yo yo"

great show.

Best hip hop show is either going to be PE "Fear of a Black Planet" in RFK or the B-Boys in 99.

The Neptunes. Best beats in hip hop. Timbaland is closing in though.

Various Neptunes beats from 1997-2008:

Basically, from 2000 to about 2005 they ruled hip hop (aside from Eminem). They produced the best hip hop beats with the best rappers. From Bad Boy to Noreaga to Busta Rhymes to Ludacris to Mystical to Jay Z. I would make an argument that some of Jay Z's best songs were produced by the Neptunes.

yeah, I have Dr Dre on line 1. He would like to talk to you about a few smaller rappers he produced that you might have heard of. Eminem, 50 Cent, The Game, Xhibit, Poop Dogg..

Yeah, I thought about Dre after I posted that. I'd put him up there with the Neptunes and Timbaland.

There's one thing I don't really like about Dre though, it's not his beats. I don't like how he handled all of those rappers. Especially with 50 Cent and The Game (and to a lesser extent Eminem), he came on board for 1 album. Those albums that he produced were especially good and the beats were great. Their follow ups were weak though, they were weak because there was no Dre.

That's one of the things I like about the Neptunes (or liked). They were on Jay Z's records time and time again. It was awesome for a time. The Neptunes don't really do it anymore though, I don't know if it's me or them. N.E.R.D.'s last album was pretty poo poo.

Timbaland is the new Neptunes to me. He's got the most unique beats out there. Single handedly produced a great album for Justin Timberlake (I'm not afraid to admit I liked it :)). Single handedly put One Republic at the top of the charts. I know we are getting away from hip hop and into pop, but Timbaland makes some awesome beats.

Also, back to the Neptunes. Pharrell did get his start back in the 90's with Timbaland, seeing as how they are both from VA (VA BABY!) they did work together a little bit. Timbaland probably had an influience on the Neptunes and thus their success in the early 2000's.

Another good producer I forgot about is Rza. He made some really hot beats for a time in the 90's and early 2000's.

1000000000% agree with the way he handles rappers but you got in to a deal with Dre knowing you aint gonna get **** as a writer and that he demands a high check.

So if I tell you that he will punch you in the face if you touch him and you touch him anyways I dont wanna hear about how your face hurts from being punched.

its funny that he had to leave his masters with Suge when he left Death Row..

________________________________________________

and as much as it pains me to say this because I HATE Puffy, he had some dope beats for BIG. I loved BIG and some of the beats like Warning, Youre nobody until somebody kills you, and smooth **** like Sky is the limit were the best and can still be bumped today.
