e_guns
Adding another LB to their group. Very smart move if Dan Morgan is heathly enough to be a star MLB when he first came out of college and not bothered by concusions. First Vilma , now Morgan http://www.carolinagrowl.com/Read.aspx?Story=
BigMike619
Dan Morgan is a concussion case. I wish him the best but any team that signs him is taking a big risk.
elkabong82
I wish him the best, but from what I understand about his injury history, it would probably be much wiser for him to just retire. That would be very said if something even more serious were to happen to him, or any player.
thespaniard
The Saints plan to use him at WLB, which could help him take on less hits head on and perhaps keep him healthy throughout the season. It's only a one year deal for pretty cheap so its low risk/high reward. Good job by the Saints.
CowboysSaintsFan
This D wasn't GREAT in '06-sure they overachieved and played in over their heads, but the talent level wasn't GREAT nonetheless, and they finally saw their cracks in '07. Good moves by the Saints this offseason to upgrade their D. Their D-line is not only very good, but deep now, and they have a talented group of LBs now. On top of their, the QB of their secondary, Roman Harper, is now completed recovered from his knee injury suffered in '06.
kvarlo12000
I agree that the D has been upgraded significantly this offseason, but I think Dan Morgan is not going to make it through the season.
kvarlo12000
With the Gay signing I think they may still look at the LB position with their first round pick.

kvarlo12000
with all the defensive help they got and the draft I think they will be very good.
dfitzo53
I really think the saints could be the team in 2008. I'd like to see Drew Brees enjoy some real success. They're playing in a division where it's up for grabs, so they definitely have a shot.
mcarey032
Great. They got a guy with a concussion history. Why would they want that? I doubt he plays more than 8 games for them.
thespaniard
Great. They got a guy with a concussion history. Why would they want that? I doubt he plays more than 8 games for them. For the money they gave him, its a low risk/high reward signing. Nothing wrong with that.
THEArmchairQB
He should retire so he can remember his children's names when they graduate high school.

With a history of concussions, LB Dan Morgan faces a life-altering decision whether to return to NFLDan Morgan dodged a bullet Wednesday when he announced that he would sit out the rest of the NFL season after suffering at least the fifth and sixth concussions of his career this summer. Scratch that -- he dodged a cannonball. If Morgan, the Carolina Panthers' star linebacker, had returned, research suggests that he would likely suffer at least a third concussion this season and join a long list of NFL players -- including Steve Young, Troy Aikman, Merril Hoge, Ted Johnson, Wayne Chrebet, Al Toon, Ed McCaffrey, Bill Romanowski, Chris Miller, Stan Humphries, Frank Wycheck and Bob Christian -- who have had to retire early because of post-concussion syndrome (PCS). mcarey032
I agree about his quality of life. Sometimes these players need to be saved from themselves. I think that Rosenhaus is his agent. He should advise him to retire and think about his future and quality of life. I don't know what type of discussions were had between he and his agent, but I would think that the responsible think for Rosenhaus to do would be to advise his client to retire and think about doing something with his life while his isn't directly imapcted from his injuries from the NFL. CowboysSaintsFan
I believe Morgan will be playing the weak side, where the magnitude of hits et al are far fewer than his normal middle.
Genghis Khan
I think the saints will draft DRC just cause McKenzie got hurt at the end of the season and Jason David is awful in their system.

kvarlo12000
I think the saints will draft DRC just cause McKenzie got hurt at the end of the season and Jason David is awful in their system. That is a very good possibility, they will need a number 1 for all of next year. Mckenzie will not be ready to go at the begining of the year just like CR. Leonard Washington
Dan Morgan does whatever the **** he wants to do. I don't see why people have to question his life decisions.
thespaniard
Dan Morgan has officially retired. Better to do it earlier than later i guess... http://www.saintsreport.com/forums/showthread.php?t=70837

Hiro
In the wake of this happening, I think you guys should seriously go after Odell Thurman. If he's cleaned himself up, a linebacking corps of Fujita, Vilma, and Thurman would make for a much MUCH improved defensive unit for the Saints. thespaniard
Thurman or Spikes is probably the next move now..
