Maybe we view him as a different types of players. I want him to be 10-16 sack per year type guy and earn that huge paycheck. It is not too late, as it could easily happen. I'm thinking you probably need to readjust your expectations from Carter. If he could be a consistent 8 sack per year guy I'd be pretty happy. It's been a long time since the Skins had someone on the D-Line that could do that. Is 8 sacks/year worth his salary? Eh, probably not but at this point he is the best we have and he isn't bad. I noticed a number of different times Monday night where he was being doubled and getting a good jump at the snap. But as you said prob not worth his salary. He was brought in here as a pass rushing specialist and that is what i want to see. Hell if he is getting double teams that should allow other Dlinemen to get sacks. But yea ill be ok with 8 but would like to see double digits based on what eh was brought here to do. jrt212 Posted September 22, 2007 Share Posted September 22, 2007 8 sacks may be fine, but they are singularities. he gets very little pressure on the quarterback aside from those projected 8 sacks. i would be happy with an underachieving 8 sacks if he also got his hands on the quarterback more, forcing them to break the pocket, roll out, hurry a pass, or just throw it away, but he doesn't do that. He was allowed to play press man coverage. I cannot remeber the last time I have seen the D play a man coverage. This 7-12 yards off the recievers **** doesnt work well for us. I think carlos game would be much improved if he was allowed more man coverage. :2cents: The giants game is a MUST WIN for the Redskins. MUST WIN!! I know the giants are pissed. I know their backs are against the wall. I know they will come out and give the best they can give. But this is a game that can show us (and everyone) how strong we are. No, I'm not talking about a shootout, but after we jam it down their throats for two and a half quarters I expect to toss it down the field and put them away before the end of the 3rd. Same here. It looked they went for it a few times against the Eagles but Cooley dropped a pass, Moss was overthrown ETC. I expect more of that at home against a sorry Giants Secondary. I'm pretty sure that they will try to open it up quite a bit. We might finally get to see why Saunders is here and is better at calling the plays than Gibbs was. I hope. jrt212 Posted September 23, 2007 Share Posted September 23, 2007 i don't think we need to change our gameplan much. if we start getting away from the power run game, we make our defense get out there more than we want, and we would be moving away from what has worked for us. i am fine with taking our 3-5 shots per game, we just need to capitalize better when the opportunity is there. i say we give sellers the opportunity to say hello to his good friend mr. pierce, let ladell and clinton run roughshod on them, and give our defense the breathers that let them perform at a high level like they have so far.
