SEVILLA, Spain (AP) - Sevilla defender Antonio Puerta was in "very serious" condition Sunday after two cardiac arrests during his team's 4-1 win over Getafe a day earlier.

I was watching this game and it was extremely frightening. he ended up swallowing his tongue and it was extremely heads up of his teammate to open his mouth and pull his tongue out of his throat.

After 36 hours he is in a very critical situation, and probably will have serius brain damage:( He is only 22 and international with spain selection and probably will never play soccer again, that sucks. Also his wife is on her 7th month of pregnation...

We hope he get well soon.

I wonder why these soccer players are dropping like files during games? does anyone have any info on why?

Those clips were certainly scary... what was up with the guy doing backflips?

the player who did the back flip had some type of brain injury and lost all of his balance.

Anytime i see a heart related thread i immediately open it. I dropped like a fly about 4 years ago. But fortunately didn't go into cardiac arrest.

God be with him and with his family and friends that must be destroyed by this. He was way too young and had accomplished so much... only to have it end like this.

He made the Spanish World Cup team... seems like he was a rising star? Dang... he spent 14 years on Seville... played Futbol his whole life. From reading about other soccer players passing, seems like a heart attack on the pitch is just about worst case scenario for someone.

he was a month away from having his first child. It's a damn shame someone dies like this. He was a rising star and had the makings of a dominant player. To put this in perspective, this would be like Jason Campbell dying right now.
