Brandon Lloyd's eating habits

He forgot to mention all the "booster" shots he injected.

That or maybe he just didn't take them. :)

That's alot of food. Reminds me alot of the diets the bodybuilders I helped train were on. I used to eat 8 eggs a day and all kinds of fish and chicken, but I didn't even come close to that kind of eating. I may not eat for the next 2 days just reading that.

Its hard not to like Brandon (or at least partly) after reading his journal entries. Definately an intelligent guy. He just needs to simma down his attitude...the potential is there!

I know what you mean. Almost anyone else who came in with that kind of hype and money and flamed out the way he did last year would be universally disliked by Skins fans but for some reason, it seems that most people are willing to give him another chance before condeming him. I can't quite put my finger on it, either, maybe it is his intelligence. It's almost like part of me knows I shouldn't like the guy and think he's a bum but I can't quite bring myself to do it yet.

I called him a bum all off season, and I was right to do it after that horrible season

But one look at him shows how hard he worked this off-season, he's earned a second chance just by the physical toll he has obviously paid

someone needs to get lloyd a protein shake sponsor... he could put two of those meals in a glass without the fuss...

The shakes wouldn't give him the same calories as real food - they are suppliments, not substitutes - and you need huge amounts of careful calories to add lean bulk like that in one off season

Taken from www.redskins.com, from BL's training camp journal. The man is eating!

Maintaining my weight is probably the hardest thing for me because I'm not a big eater. In the offseason, if I'm traveling or doing something unrelated to football, I probably only eat a couple times a day. Down in Arizona, though, I'd say the main part of my training regimen was eating. I ate six meals per day with the lighter meals later in the day and the heavier meals in the morning.

  • My breakfast would consist of a 16-ounce T-bone steak and 10 egg whites. That would be the meal I'd eat before I'd train.
  • Right after I'd train, I'd eat two chicken breasts and 8-10 egg whites.
  • After that I'd eat fish-maybe 12 ounces of Ahi Tuna, broccoli and a baked potato.
  • My fourth meal would be chicken, broccoli, and a baked potato.
  • My fifth meal would be a lamb chop or rack of lamb.
  • And finally my sixth meal would be fish again.

The tough thing about eating like that is if I ate my breakfast too late or if I didn't eat my in-between meals in time, then I'd be up late trying to finish eating. Seriously -- there were a few nights when I'd fall asleep on the couch while trying to catch up with my eating.

So that was pretty much the way I was able to get stronger--and thus get bigger.

I think my ideal playing weight is 200 pounds. It feels really good. People will look at it and think, "Wow--he went from 185 pounds two years ago to 200 pounds now." They look at that 15 pounds and say, "Wow, he's going to be stiff, he can't run."

I think what's been most surprising to people is that I still have all the same flexibility. I'm not tight, I still have all my range of motion and my stride. In fact, I'm actually running a lot better. It's not that I've just gained weight, I've gained muscle and I've gotten stronger. I'm also a lot more explosive than I was. You can see it in my first couple steps off the line of scrimmage after the ball is snapped, and also running after the catch.

I imediately noticed that Lloyd had "buffed-up" and it was nice to learn that he also feels stronger. I'm going to follow his season closely and I definitely hope that he will show improvement this season. !!:)

 it is.

actually a significant portion of "brown people" (african, asian) are lactose intolerant. rarely are they born that way. typically they can deal with milk as a child and adolescence but as they age the milk enzymes aren't produced as much. it was thought that since groups don't drink milk throughout life, the body just stopped making the enzyme. so when they drink milk as an adult, the bacteria in the gut have a feast and the human gets bubble guts.

most white europeans drink milk their entire lives, so the enzyme remains.

Indeed, much of the Earth's population does not produce the enzyme Lactase. That's because they (smartly) stop digesting milk once they no longer need to breastfeed.

I would think Blacks in America would have it, because they eat the same American diet the rest of us here do, which includes lots of dairy products that have lactose. But actual Africans most likely do not. A sad (but unintentionally funny) thing I learned recently, was that one of the main things the US sent to aid in African famine relief was milk. Doesn't do them any good, just creates a lot of upset stomachs and diarrhea.

As for egg whites - some of you said it sounds tough to eat so many. But think about it. If you don't have the yolks, the whites are nice and fluffy. Very easy to eat. 20? Well, that is a lot, but I'll bet I could eat 10-12 per day if I wasn't eating much else besides protein, like Llyod is doing. Notice how there's no breads on that list.
