Jeremiah_Johnson
Perhaps Riggins should volunteer for one of the "post traumatic concussion" studies the NFL offers.
SSS
I stand by Riggins' word. When Joe Gibbs recruited Riggins, Riggins said, "I'll make you (Gibbs) famous." Riggins was right about that. I think he's right about the Top Five prediction too. The Redskins are due.
Meatsnack
Where would you rank Portis and Cooley compared to Tomlinson and Gates? I don't see a huge gap, just more time in a similar offense. With the changes in San Diego, I would not be suprised to see our guys put up similar if not better numbers. Tomlinson is clearly better in every respect except blocking over CP, but not by a lot. Frankly, I think most of the difference comes from Tomlinson's attitude. He cares about football and Portis doesn't really, for Clinton it's a paycheck and CP has said as much publically more than once. Plus, Tomlinson has better hands. The Gates/Cooley gap is also small. In fact, Gates has been regressing slightly as a player while Cooley is still improving. It wouldn't shock me to see Cooley put up better numbers than Gates if Norv doesn't center the offense around Antonio. OTOH, I rate our line and our receivers higher than San Diego's. A lot will come down to JC's development as we have known for months.
Malta
Being a Top 5 NFL team usually means you have to win the Division first....and Campbell doesnt have the luxury of having the best RB AND TE in football with him....that prediction is downright insane....but I can appreciate optimism. May be not the best RB and TE. But pretty good one nevertheless. Does NE has the best RB or TE in the league?
SSS
Remember....Portis has been down with injuries the last few years. In many interviews, Portis would commonly say, "I'm 98.5%" or "I'm 99%." Even though Portis consistently said he was close to 100%, I would guarantee that his shoulder was not anywhere near 100%. Portis is probably 100% now. As such, I think Portis will have a record breaking year this year, as his shoulder is fully healed.
jpgirth
Once again, I can appreciate the optimism and being hyped up for your team this season, but I dont see the team in a New England / San Diego category....I mean, seriously....they have to get out of the NFC basement first....that is a FAR stretch....plus, there is NO depth on the D-line....its shaky already and if there are injuries, they're cooked....I really like Portis/Betts/Moss/Cooley....but can Campbell deliver consistently IF the line blocks? In the D-backfield, the Skins are nice....but that backfield doesnt do much if they are tackling RBs 5-6 yds down the field....its all about up front for the Skins....and again...NO WAY they are even close to San Diego, N.E. or Indy....hell, they arent even that close to the Saints and Eagles! Didn't we beat New Orleans
redskins55
Hey, lets try and be one of the top five teams in our conference. Then... we can worry about being the top five in the league.

Tastes Like Chicken
Maybe he meant Top 5 in the NFL's NFC East division? But I do agree that Greggg will have a gigantic chip on his shoulder, and Coach Gibbs will tear it up and make the playoffs.

AmishGangsta
I remember two years ago when Joe Theismann predicted that the Skins would make it to the SuperBowl, everyone acted like the man was crazy. He ended up being two games off from his prediction. Just sayin'

smalex41
I can't believe this wasn't posted yet. On the John Riggins Show, Riggo said he predicts the Redskins will be one of the TOP FIVE TEAMS IN THE NFL this season. Can't link obviously. But I'm sure someone else heard this. He also said he believes it will be Joe Gibbs last season, and that a major part of our success will be our defense. This is the first time that I've heard "Riggos" projections. He definitely has an insight and he definitely has the experience to make these predictions. If Riggo has made these predictions, "HEY I ride with my leader" !! taylorcoreskin
If our defense makes the top 10, we could easily win more than 12 games.
