#98QBKiller
Archuleta runs a 4.4 40, nothing slow about that. He just didn't have the moves to keep up in coverage.LOl, Archuleta does not run a 4.40 forty. I don't know where you got that from. http://archive.profootballweekly.com/content/archives2001/features_2001/nawrocki_061901.asp
Mercuryrising
LOl, Archuleta does not run a 4.40 forty. I don't know where you got that from. You sure the guy was joking? This quote from the "Chicago Tribune" is interesting for a couple of reason's, least of which is the mention of a certain ex-skin QB. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/columnists/cs-070322haugh,1,7943838.column?coll= But go ahead and doubt Archuleta because he has thrived on proving people wrong since he was a 175-pound walk-on linebacker at Arizona State. He latched on to noted trainer Jay Schroeder and developed to the point where he bench-pressed 530 pounds and ran a 4.37 40-yard dash.
Gregpeck99
IMO Reed is an overachiever with spunk and a limited topside ... but I love his name!
Mercuryrising
Doughty ran a 4.65 40 yard. Much slower than Arch. http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/profile.php?pyid=21757
ceviker
At this point, no one knows if he'll become anything or not. I do know that he "plays his guts out" on teams and gives 110% everytime, so there is potential. As for contributing this year on D, I doubt it - but you never know. Keep fighting hard, Reed! Buddha
I Doughty will be a factor on defense in 2007.
Arsenic
When you don't have anything close to a pass rush, you need safeties with speed. Laron Landry, anyone?
Arsenic
from http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingreports/s/laronlandry.html Strengths: Playmaker with a nose for the ball...Terrific athlete with superb timed speed...Has excellent size...He has great instincts, range and ball skills...Times and anticipates the action...Plays both the pass and the run with equal efficiency...He's extremely smart and a leader in the secondary...Has a lot of experience after starting as a freshman...A big hitter...Was productive throughout his career...Is versatile and has played both safety spots and even cornerback...Real tough and competitive. We all know the Skins love versatility. Besides, can't you just imagine that last line being spoken by JG?
Doughty
He works really hard. And gives 100% on every chance he gets. I say we give him a chance...:applause:

Much slower than Arch.http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/profile.php?pyid=21757 does archuletta play like he runs a 4.37? no does archuletta play like he runs in the 4.4's? no does archuletta play like he runs in the 4.5's? no when it came to playing speed I doubt anyone could tell the difference between the two. Friend of the Devil
I think he will remain a special teams man for a good while. Who knows, he may someday prove to be a valuable safety.
#21Taylor4Ever
If we draft Landry and extend Taylor, Doughty will be yet another player forgotten on STs OR playing well elsewhere. He looks like a gritty young kid, maybe just maybe he has a chance to make some noise in a few years.
dent19
Yeah, but wasn't Marques Colston a Division IAA player... he could be good. He hasn't gotten a shot yet Why is it that most other teams FO's find a "Diamond in the Ruff" every draft and ours just find these guys that cant find their way to the field. with very few exceptions, how many of these guys were worth the 2nd day pick? In most cases we've had better Wallk-Ons then the FO drafted...... I didnt want to make it worst by showing the first day camp fodder..... And then to make matters worst, we trade picks away for very bad Free Agents..... FRONT OFFICE SUCKS!!!!!!! 06 5. GURU
Well, Doughty was compared to a John Lynch or Pat Tillman-type safety because of his smarts and instincts. His speed, or lack thereof, compares to those fellas, too. That attribute hasn't kept Lynch from being a long-time perennial Pro Bowler. Lynch, by the way, didn't become a full-time, regular starter until his 4th season in the NFL. So, don't count Doughty out of the mix. Smart guys with good instincts and PLAYING speed have a way of sticking around.
jamesbondman
I like Reed, but so far I agree with the pre draft consenus of him by some: He's physical, smart, but tight hipped and not fluid in coverage and speed is suspect. Sounds like a clone of Adam Archletta. Why don't we trade him to the Bears?
cphil006
I don;t see him being labeled a bust because not much was expected from this Division II player. We should not have wasted a draft pick on him though because he could have had him as an undrafted free agent if so desired.
cphil006
Yeah, but wasn't Marques Colston a Division IAA player... he could be good. He hasn't gotten a shot yet Reed didn;t play I-AA, he played for the lower Division II schools. His former college has just completed its shift to D-IAA
cyfar
Other than the hit on the Saints player, my only memories of Reed Doughty(like the rest of the Skins DBs) were of him getting smoked by receiving corps whenever he did get PT. He'll be lucky to be on the practice squad this year.

More Complete
Does no one rember the Falcons game where Rock blocked a punt and Doughty picked it up and ran with it? He raced to the Falcons' 27-yard line to give the Redskins a chance at a comeback. That and his appearance on ESPN's "Jacked Up" are two indications he's a solid special teams guy who might be worth keeping around.
nace14
how could you ever label a 6th or 7th round pick, whatever he was, out of a DIAA team who saw good playing time a bust ever? reed doughty, i salute you for your effort!
