Here`s a few FAs I find interesting, based mostly on size and youth. In no particular order.

1st the Gaurd position. I like the idea of moving Tackles inside.

Nat Dorsey OT 23yrs old and 6`7" 345lbs: He`s a RFA so I don`t know what kinda compensation the Brownies would ask for.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=5640

Adam Goldberg OT 26yrs old and 6`7" 330lbs: UFA

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=7057

Steve Edwards OT 28yrs old and 6`5" 333lbs: UFA

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=6266

Now for the DE spot.

Cory Redding DT26yrs old and 6`4" 290lbs: UFA Played inside last year and got 8 sacks. That aint to shabby. Put him back at DE in DC. The Skins gotta be considering this guy.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/stats?playerId=4524

Grant Irons LB 27yrs old 6`6 285lbs: UFA he was in Buffallo in 02. Maybe GW knows him? 285lbs and athletic enough to play LB? Hmmm...?

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=4315

Anthony Hargrove DE 23yrs old and 6`3" 272lbs: RFA He was a 3rd round pick in 04 so might have to compensate the Bills.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=6850

Bobby McCray DE25yrs old and 6`6" 261lbs: RFA He was a 7th round pick in 04. McCray had 10 sacks last year! Might be worth a trade if he does not want to resign with Jax.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/stats?playerId=5774

Jimmy Wilkerson DE 26yrs old and 6`2" 290lbs: UFA I gotta believe at 6`2" 290 that he could move inside if the Redskins needed him to. He could add some flexability along the line.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=6525

Now the Corner spot.

Roderick Hood CB 25yrs old and 5`11" 196lbs: UFA He has been discussed alot around here. Even with the Smoot signing, Hood still makes sense to me.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/stats?playerId=4989

Samuel Davis CB 26yrs old and 6`1" 195lbs: UFA He was a late 1st round pick in 03. Trade Springs and snap this guy up. Smoot, Rogers and Davis sounds good to me.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/stats?playerId=4488

I think the Skins could use a more versatile TE opposite Cooley.

Jerramy Stevens TE 27yrs old and 6`7" 265lbs: A vet TE might be tough to sign with that inflated Shiancoe 18mil over 5yr deal. But I like his size and he can catch. Even if talked a lil crap before the SB.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=5914

Then the Skins can maneuver themselves into a good spot to draft Okoye and look to solidify the O-Line and the LBs for the future.

Yeah I said LBs... Fletcher(31) and even Washington(29) are not going to be around forever. Marshall is 30, Campbell is 27 and does not look to be a every down Linebacker and that leaves just Rocky McIntosh(24)

We need to draft a MLB this year.

Hood was signed by the Cardinals recently. Would have liked to have him here, but that probably wasnt happening with Smoot back. And I'm glad the Eagles didnt re-sign him.

As far as the other guys go Cory Redding is slightly intriguing. I didnt know he had 8 sacks last year. Those OLs are big but I have no idea if they are skilled at all, and some seem a little tall to play guard. I also like Anthony Hargrove at DE, but he's a RFA like a few others on your list, and there's no way we can afford to give up ANYTHING in terms of picks at this point.

...is there anything yet to convince you that Rocky can't handle MLB? He played it at Miami, & now he's got the best tutor of this D playing next to him.

I won't argue that we would need to fill the outside positions since Washington's getting up in age, but I think Rocky will be slotted into the MLB eventually, in order to take advantage of his intellect & speed--much like Vilma & Urlacher experimented with OLB before being switched to the middle.

Well... We drafted him to play outside and I think he`s a good fit there. I`m not saying he CANT play inside. Just that since he has (IMO) solidified the outside spot, why fix it if it aint broken?

If the Redskins shuffle themselves into the 2nd or 3rd round I would like to see them snag a nice future prospect at MLB thats all.

I don't like any of those players. They seem very underwhelming and some of those signings are relatively expensive.

Sorry. I will go back to the drawing board right away. Please give me an idea of what kinda player you do like, and I will restructure my thought process completely according to your ideas.

I know theres a probowler or 2 out there that will play for peanuts. I just didnt look hard enough. I forgot that ALL talent should come cheap and that shelling out bucks for a player that might actually contribute is NEVER a good idea.

Silly me!

Veteran Minimum...

Are you kidding? We just picked up a MLB in FA. I would have rather gotten one in the draft...like Patrick Willis...but we save that first pick for some other position which is good.

We are destined to trade down that #6 pick. I hope we get several top players. DE or DT in first round. Maybe also get CB Chris Houston (fast and strong). The skins are saving the rest of their cap space for draft picks. FA is over for them, unless in a trade.

McRay and Redding sound good, as well as some of those olinemen.

But I do not ever want to see a jerk like Jerammy Stevens wearing our jersey. Maybe for like a 1 day contract, and have Sean Taylor use him as a stunt dummy to teach the rest of the secondary how DC hits, but other than that, I don't want a weak punk like that.

Yeah McCray is VERY appealing to me as well... But what is so bad about stevens? Is it because he did some needless blubbering before the big game? Because Porter just took that and ran with it ( Stevens should have known better ) but its not the end of his carreer. No worse than his idiot QB saying

" we want the ball were gonna score " or whatever he said.

And as far as contract I dont know? Having Cooley relegates Stevens to 2nd TE and mostly a blocker but at 6`7" and fairly sure handed he would add a nice demention to our redzone offense. IMO

Wow... I had no idea that Redskins fans were so passionate about sportsmanship! Good thing that none of our favorite players spit on people or anything like that.

JK! I hear what you guys are saying. But, if the Skins got Stevens tommorrow at a fair market value I would be willing to give him a clean slate to start with. Not like hes a pacman size problem. And I have seen him make some tremendous catches so I`m not sold on the whole " walking dropped pass " thing either.

No to Stevens. He'd bring character issues, toughness issues, hands issues, and probably team chemistry issues.

I am also leery of Washington running after RFAs too early in the game, especially considering how few Redskins draft picks remain. I suspect, however, that there are some war-rooms already gearing up for these types of scenarios as draft-day approaches. Maybe Snyder can't help himself and winds up diving in.

RE: LINEBACKERS:

Rocky's better on the outside for now. Fletcher gives us two years to groom a good MLB. Whoever that person winds up being, will depend on what young talent the Skins eventually acquire. If the new talent is better on the outside , Rocky might be slotted at MLB, assuming he's got the smarts to fill the role.

Can Rocky play MLB for Washington? In the Redskin scheme MLB must be a natural leader, smart enough to learn the nuances of the schemes, and also be mentally and physically quick enough for rapid-fire decisive action. I didn't see that out of Lamar; I didn't see it out of the rookie version of McIntosh either.
