Chris Landry likes the Eagles

Some of you might have heard of the "Super Scout" Chris Landry on Fox Radio.

The guy is a class act and provides solid basis for his beliefs.

Anyway, I was listening to the Drive, with Chris Myers and Landry was on today.

Myers said he liked the 'Skins & Dallas for tops in the East and Landry said the E-Girls.

Landry's reasons were he's not 100% sold on the defense that we'll be rolling out, which surprised me. He said Philly will rebound and expects Dallas to edge out the 'Skins for a playoff spot.

**EDIT: I forgot to mention his concern for offense was if Bruneell could stay healthy for the entire year.

Before anyone starts screaming mediot, he really isn't.

My only solace is that he's an unemployed scout (most recently of the Titans).

There's gotta be a reason he's unemployed...I just hope it's 'cuz he can't pick

the NFC Teams very well!

He's not sold on our defense? Top 10 the last 2 years, G. Williams is back and we added a real pass rusher and upgraded at safety. Plus we got one of the best D-backs coach that was a former D-coordinator. If anything is certain on this team is that we will have a top 10 defense probably top 5. We've been a top pass rusher away from a championship level defense. If Carter can be that then look out.

Who the hell is Chris Landry and why should give a **** what he thinks?

Who he is:

guess you never listen to Fox radio...he's always on and he's a pretty good

analyst.

Why you should care:

you shouldn't, but I do

I'm not quite as "homerish" as you are.

When I heard this from a reputable source (like him), it made me stop & think.

We shouldn't be too quick to discount Philly....I guess that's the message.

yeah that's what got me by that comment too.

(note: I did forget to add his Brunell staying healthy comment initially)

I've since edited the original post

I should've tried to call in and probe him about the ddefensive question.

Maybe he was just having a bad day....he's usually pretty solid though.

Guess that's what bothers me the most about what he said.

Your solace should be he's a tool. This is the guy who said before our game against Denver last year we were a horrible team. He super scouted his way into statements like, "Washington is just awful. They have nothing." This was at 3-0 mind you.

He routinely took shots at us throughout the year. He said all last year our defense wouldn't be that good. It shouldn't surprise you he's saying he wonders about it this year. The Brunell question is fair. No one can say otherwise. You don't have to be a super scout to realize it though.

LOL. I remember hearing we were "the worst 3-0 team to ever play in the NFL"

Sorry but all football "analysts" are just radio fodder. Most don't have a clue about anything. I bet he picked us 4th in the NFC last season as well

Not to rain on your parade, but there is no such thing as a reputable sports analyst. :)

Philly will be better, but not much.

Why? several reasons. They disrupted their OL, and DL... and will be adding rookies (who never make a big splash, no matter how great.... like QB steep learning curve)

They did not come close to addressing their biggest needs, adding play makers to their offense. McNabb can't do it alone, and Westbrook for all the eagle fans squawking is coming off a serious injury, usually takes a year to fully recover, and even when healthy he can't do it all running and pass catching. Brown and Pinky scare no one, and they screwed up major by passing on Walker and not drafting Lendale White when they had the chance in the second round.

it's a toss up whether they or the pokes will finish last in the NFC East.

You are giving this dope far more credit than he deserves. Hell, on this board a former NFL employee working in broadcasting means he sucks and no one wants him -- see Cerrato comments. Of course, Vinny got onto television on a big network, not a constantly shuffled radio gig like on Fox.

I've been saying for some time Philly is the real danger in the division. So, I didn't need Chris' expert analysis to tell me that.

Yet, it made you stop and think when he thought we might be third, based on the potency of his insight that our defense was suspect? How did that make you think anything other than, "Wow, what's this guy doing. He's just making stuff up."

Bubba, that is by far the longest post I have ever seen you make!

Cowboys will finish last in the east. People who like them so much just do not understand what their problems were last yr. They had wide outs. Their problem is Bledsoe can not get out of the pocket. And their offensive line stinks. The Redskins can just double TO and blitz and Bledsoe will be on the ground every play.

Eagles , Redskins and the Giants are the only teams i see that can contend for the playoffs.

I give the edge to the Redskins because they are strong on both sides of the ball and the running game. So are the Giants. Eagles do not run the ball.

I don't know... I'm optimistic about what Joe can do in year three, especially with the additions at receiver. But I just don't think this is going to be a dominant team. I think they'll have to fight for every win. This team is not the juggernaut you guys seem to think it is.

The Eagles, with McNabb back, do scare me. Last year was an abberation. It's very hard to win in Philly. Sweeping them again is gonna be a tall order. And Eli has another year of experience, so the Giants are not as bad as everyone thinks. And betting against the Tuna? Never a great idea in the long term. He got swept by Joe, and he's gonna have revenge on his mind.

The NFC East is going to be very tough. Last year the Skins went 5-1 against the East. That's not going to happen this year without lots of luck.

And the Skins are a very thin team. At a number of positions, like OT or DB, you have no real backups. A couple of injuries and the Skins could easily be in last.

We all know that the odds set by Las Vegas casinos are not always an attempt to predict the future or final outcome but rather a means for the house to win money. Having said that the 5/10/06 odds by Maddux on winning the Superbowl are: Dallas 12:1; Skins 13:1; Giants 18:1; and Eagles 19:1.

Well, that makes me feel better....thanks Art.

I wasn't aware he was dogging us last year as well.

Much appreciated.

Laundry is a good guy. He's just wrong that's all.

Dallas is overrated. Cowboys secondary is still short a real safety and cornerback so I'm not concerned about them. And the Giants really didn't improve their secondary either.

Eagles did have the best draft of any team. But...Mcnabb's health and conditioning is a concern. And they still don't have a between the tackles RB and Andy Reid is no longer the best coach in the division anymore.

Redskins are in the drivers seat. Period.

It seems like most analysts are picking the Skins, Gmen or Cowboys to win the east. The Eagles are pretty much the consensus pick for last. He just wants to look smart IF they happen to regain their Super Bowl losing form.
