aREDSKIN
WTF is this?? Haven't we had enough of this guy!! I mean come on. February 03, 2006 More on Brady's toss More details have become available regarding Patriots quarterback Tom Brady's involvement with the opening coin toss in Super Bowl XL. According to NFL Director of Corporate Communications Brian McCarthy, Brady will toss the coin before the game. The NFL is assembling more than 30 Super Bowl MVPs on the field before the game as part of its season-long campaign to celebrate 40 years of Super Bowls. The league will begin the game by saluting the current players, and has chosen Brady -- the two-time Super Bowl MVP and three-time Super Bowl champion -- to represent all current players. Brady becomes the first active, non-participating player to flip the coin for a Super Bowl game. After the game, two-time Super Bowl MVP Bart Starr will be part of a ceremony that recognizes all past players. http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/reiss_pieces/
kreitmaster
I've had enough of him. There is no need for him to do the coin toss. He should be sitting at home feeling foolish for complaining about lack of respect for the Patriots.

ejay183
This just shows how much the league loves to get on its knee and pucker up to Tom Brady.

project myu
I hate Tom Brady. Not as a player, since he is pretty good. But as a person. And it's not his fault. The media is constantly kissing his butt and praising him, when it's blatantly obvious that he's not that special. They always talk about how he's good looking, such a great sportsman, etc. I've seen plenty of instances where he had poor sportsmanship, and some of his commentary ("Patriots get no respect") is straight up dumb. He's also banging escorts, and I'm sure he isn't the only player to do so, but it certainly isn't the shining display of morality that he's often said to have. How he won Sportsman of the Year is beyond me. But to reiterate, it's not his fault that the media's always kissing up to him. Just like how they were constantly praising Marcus Vick, about how much more mature he has become, about how he learned from past mistakes, and on and on. We all know what has happened since then. fuji869
Brady would probably say he was getting no respect if they did not let him do the Super Bowl Coin Toss.

TheREALJBird
This is ridiculous, Brady should have nothing to do with the SB, seeing how his team is NOT in it

Sounds like it's part of a whole ceremony to honor past MVPs. Maybe they picked Brady in part too because he's a former UM quarterback. Who knows. As long as he doesn't aim the coin at Rothlisberger's or Hasselbeck's eye, I'm sure it'll be no big deal.

Guest sith lord
Why couldn't they have Barry Sanders or even a Motown legend like Stevie Wonder do the coin flip? The NFL dropped the ball on this one.
akorn22
What the hell are you talking about?? Didn;t u watch the SB last year? They had some kid doing the toss last year (i forget what was so special about the kid, maybe he overcame a disease or something) and McNabb called the toss. then the little kid threw the coin and it didn;t flip. you could see the coin just go up and land without flipping once. Kinda a BS was to lose the coin toss

scruffylookin
I don't mind Brady being there. Especially since the Skins had a similar thing in 1984. After 2 straight SB appearences, the Skins failed to get back in 1984 but that didn't stop the Redskins from still having a presence in SB 19. Joe Theismann was the 3rd man in the booth for ABC's telecast even though he was still an active player. At the time I loved it while fans of other teams were just sick about it. "You can't have a SB without a Redskin" is what I told all my Dallas "friends" at the time. So I don't mind Brady (or any other Patriot) having a role this year.
