RiggoReincarnated
this isn't funny enough to be a joke, right? I'm dead serious. If he gets sentenced to 3 years for this if the judge will make an exception, given Taylors position and realizing that this is his livlihood...being put away for 3 years with no football would make it very difficult for him to break back into the NFL. Do you see any judges letting others out to go to work? I'm sure its just as hard for them to break back into their professions as well.

Loyal2Washington
First off the 3 years is a joke ST is looking at 15 years. Secondly while I love ST if a jury of his peers finds him guilty then he deserves the penalty that the state of Florida gives him. Last but not least no a judge will not give him any kind of leave to play football. :dallasuck :gaintsuck :eaglesuck
cphil006
If he goes to jail, I'm busting him out...I saw "Escape from Alcatraz" and "Shawshank Redemption"... From what I have read into the case, it is his word against another. These guys have a criminal record and apparently shots were fired at Taylor's truck... dgreen
Even if a judge did do that, there's no way he'd play. No coach would play a guy that misses every meeting and every practice.

Loyal2Washington
If he was on house arrest, it would be considered, but otherwise NO. There's no house arrest in Florida for felony gun charges. Hell even if there was he wouldn't be allowed to leave the state, or possibly city. It could work out if we made the Super Bowl next year. :dallasuck :gaintsuck :eaglesuck

Florida has got some serious jail time attached to felony gun charges, which is what ST is facing. All states have different penalties but Florida is one of the more strict states about guns. :dallasuck :gaintsuck :eaglesuck
Loyal2Washington
I'm just concerned because it seems like this DA has an axe to grind and is seeking publicity. Did the thugs that Taylor chased actually press charges against him? My take is that the DA is a young guy trying to make a name for himself. From my understanding the two "victims", if that what the state of Florida calls two gang bangers, are witnesses. Felony gun charges are similar to that of domestic violence in that the "victim(s)" don't have to press charges becuse the state will automatically press charges on the perp. I don't see ST going to jail because their is a huge lack of evidence and the two "victims" are thugs who's credibility should be called out and exploited by ST's lawyer. :dallasuck :gaintsuck :eaglesuck
Increase Mather
Increase is quite desperate for news on this situation. In Increase's view, Taylor's legal problems are the biggest potential obstacle that the Skins face heading into the offseason. Increase is confident that a reasonable secondary WR will be signed, and he believes that depth on the OL and pass-rushing defensive specialists can be located through the draft and Free Agency. Under Saunders' tutelage and oversight, Increase is even confident that the QB position will be satisfactorily manned, either by a rested Brunell or a well-coached Campbell. Taylor, however, is an emerging superstar. He cannot be replaced. Increase will be scanning the South Florida papers regularly for more information about Taylor's woes, and will be sweating bullets until March 20-

redskin56
Here in Florida, the motto is "Use a gun, go to prison". You don't even have to fire it. Just pulling the gun on these people give him a mandatory minimum of three years per offense if convicted. So he is facing a mandatory minimum of three years if he is convicted of just one count. If they had enough to arrest Taylor, they should have been aware enough of the parties involved to have sufficient evidence to arrest the guys who shot up his car! hailskins26
Florida's gun laws are unreal. the way i understand it- if you USE a weopon in a crime- 15 years. if you FIRE the weopon in a crime - 20 years (maybe even 25). if i remember correctly, the gun was fired in ST's crime- but I could be wrong.- i think he is charged with USING a weopon while committing a crime. WallyG3
He could be a star in the California Penal League... He said Penal... This just in: If Sean Taylor broke the law, he must pay the appropriate penalty. That is the bottom line. Taylor is charged with one felony count of aggravated assault with a firearm and one misdemeanor count of simple battery. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/06/24/AR2005062400535.html
