Cou-!@#$DALLAS-gh
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers Aquired QB Tim Rattay from the 49ers for an undisclosed draft pick in the 2006 nfl draft... My question... Who is going to play QB when we knock Alex Smith out of the game?
gimpy007
They have Cody Picket. He is pretty good. Former Huskie that was picked in the 7th round last year. I was shocked that he didn't go somewhere between the 3rd and 5th round.

pR0JEkT 21
Well cool thing for him, he went from a last place team to a first place team, you know hes got to be thrilled! to that, guess the 49ers are really going to stick with Alex Smith now, plus the reason for the bucs making this decision is the fact that Griese hurt his knee in this last game I believe. gimpy007
Does anyone think he'll start in Tampa or is it Chris Simms job? I think that it is Simms job to lose. Picking up Rattay will put some heat on Simms.
Skins4SB
Rattay is the insurance policy if Simms does not do well in the following weeks.

He's a free agent in my fantasy league right.. now .. could be a decent back up on my team if he were to start but I doubt he starts.. who knows? Jon T.
I think the 49ers are planning to stick with Alex Smith and don't want to tempt their fans with Rattay. Peyton Manning commented this week that playing in the NFL ASAP is best for a young QB. The 49ers are probably buying that. I don't think that assuming Smith gets hurt is part of their plans. Regarding the Bucs, I think this makes sense even if Gruden is comfortable with Simms. The Bucs only have one loss and will probably make the playoffs as long as they have a backup in case Simms goes does. No way that Rattay starts. @DCGoldPants
shocked.....but I guess Nolan is betting that he will keep his job if the rookie QB struggles.
jimster
shocked.....but I guess Nolan is betting that he will keep his job if the rookie QB struggles. yeah, I don't think Nolan's job is an issue this year because they are in rebuilding mode and trading your only vet QB kind of verifies that. I wonder because of their past working relationship, if Norv gets fired if Nolan would hire him as OC?
redman
Just reported on local FL radio - don't have a link yet. I guess it's certain we're facing Alex Smith then. It also means we're not facing Chris Simms vs. Tampa.
