The Redskins have announced the complete Fan Appreciation Day schedule for Friday, Aug. 5. Fans will have the opportunity to watch the Redskins practice in the morning, followed by a team autograph session.

The day will also feature a performance by the Redskins Marching Band and an autograph session by some of the 2005 Redskins Cheerleaders. Fans will also be able to get their picture taken with the Redskins' three Super Bowl trophies.

The following is an updated timeline for Fan Appreciation Day:

6 a.m. Parking lots and gates open for Redskins Training Camp Built by The Home Depot

8:15 a.m. Head coach Joe Gibbs addresses the Fan Day crowd

8:30 a.m. Practice begins

10:30 a.m. Practice ends, team autograph session begins.

10:30 a.m. Redskins Marching Band performance begins.

11:15 a.m. Autograph session ends

11:30 a.m. Redskins Marching Band performance ends

12:30 p.m. Fan Day comes to a close.

In addition, there will be Redskins Retail trailers for fans to purchase official Redskins merchandise. There will also be fun and games for children, including "Dress Like a Redskins Player."

Be advised that practice times are subject to change for Fan Day. Be sure to check Redskins.com for updates. Also, fans can call the Redskins' Training Camp Hotline at 703-726-7411 for schedule updates. The Redskins will do their best to notify fans of practice time changes or cancellations.

Why are they doing it this way this year? By the time I actually get there, everything will be over. I MIGHT be able to make for the autogragh session, but that's a maybe. I will still be at work when everything in going on. This really pisses me off. I was expecting a full day of activities, not just a morning thing. This is very upsetting.

I'm guessing there are 2 reasons for this; number one, they have a scrimmage on Saturday (so can't do it this weekend), and number two, Gibbs is probably going to start closing off practices to the public VERY soon, maybe even before next weekend.

In addition, I think Joe wants to spend more time working, and less time "fan appreciating". I don't mean that in a negative way at all. He's probably embarassed about last year, so he wants to work extra hard this year. But, I could be wrong, and usually am :) .

There is a Hampton Inn in Sterling (15 minutes away)and there is Embassy Suites or Mariott (we think) on Waxpool (right next to redskin Park) in Ashburn. WE can not remember its name. I will be there Friday! I am off and live down the street. Now normally the skins stay at Lansdown Resort! It is a country club and pricey but the last few years they stayed there.

I found a place north of Leesburg that is 16 miles from Redskins Park for about half the price of the hotels in the Sterling and Dulles areas. From the sound of the guy I made the reservation with, it's not one of your finer establishments...but it's only for one night :)

It isn't just you. I would have to take the majority of that day off & possibly miss my paycheck that day, because they are usually distributed at the end of the shift on Fridays. I can't afford that. This really sucks. I understand on one hand that they are having a scrimmage with the lowly Ratbirds across the Beltway the next day, but they should still at least have made it a full day of activities, with the Cheerleaders & everything else. I hope they don't expect a big turnout this year. Or maybe, that was the goal. :whoknows:

The Skins are staying out at the xerox training center. I see them leave there with a police escort everyday.

To get there for start I'd have to leave at 5AM, then get stuck in Friday afternoon beach traffic.

At least last year it was scheduled for a full day......guess I'm going to miss it.

I got off work hoping I could get there around 11, and now find out that it'll be over by then.

Can the regular season just get here?

This is frustrating.........

I just hope this pans out for wins since there will be less time to be playing for the fans.

Anyone know the general attendece for this? Im curious about what the autograph session is like, is it difficult to get autographs or is it orginized or what?

Thanx.

SS,

Last year there was about 25,000 fans there (myself included) it was kind of a mess---lots of pushing by some and cutting in lines by others.

Still, it was somewhat organized and I was able to meet Coles, Griffin, Bauman and my friend got ST's auto.

Plus, I got to meet Coach Bugel and get his autograph, he was really cool (Highlight of Training camp was meeting the man who created the Hogs and he was the MOST enthusiastic person there and that says alot about him since everybody was so hyped up for the return of Coach Gibbs....)

Truly, if you can get down there.....GO. THere should be alot less fans there (I won't be there sadly:mad: ) and you should be able to get some big name autographs if you time it right (Portis, Gibbs, Arrington, etc....)
