this is exactly right and we should not be expecting such a leap in one year. Texans we're in much better shape and did really well in FA (Schultz etc) texans also got a generational QB. Compare Stroud to other recent 1/2 overall picks in last 10 years, most top 1/2 qb picks are average or scrubs Winston, Mariota, Goff, Wentz, Murray, Bryce Young, Mayfield, trubisky (lol), Zach Wilson Only Lawrence and Burrow were good to excellent and capable of turning around a franchise we need a very good QB coupled with improvements at all levels of the defense plus o line and TE, and a HC to get the best out of them

2024 NFL Draft Position/Tracker - Final Pick #2

Another reason the Sweat trade was so bad. Draft is a lottery. We had a proven player, and our 2nd round picks have been disastrous. Should've kept and paid the man. -
2024 NFL Draft Position/Tracker - Final Pick #2

Hate to sound so negative as we've a great draft pick regardless, cap space, new owner and GM on the way, but.... I can't see any scenario where the Bears pass on Williams. They've never had a real pro bowl QB in their history, and Fields is far too inconsistent and still hasn't played a full season for them yet. even if we were to package a load of picks I can't see it mattering as they've their own pick (c.10 to get a lineman to block for Williams) Can't see any reason why they'd pass up Williams to have Fields throwing to MHJ unless they got a load of firsts and even I think they'd stick with Williams -
to add to this, I've no doubt Harris realises how bad Rivera is, but if he fires him, he has to give EB interim HC or put someone in over EB if he does the former and doesn't then hire EB as HC next year it's a mess, if he does the latter it'll be as bad as when colts have Saturday the interim job at least Harris isn't a complete idiot like Tepper just firing people

It's win/win for Harris Riverbed wins games and the team has momentum going into offseason or team loses and has higher picks (as much of a lottery as the draft is) Either way, Tugboat Ron is gone and Harris has draft picks from the two DE trades (Sweat trade a debatable one) and plenty of cap space Harris doesn't get judged for 3 years minimum unfortunately in my view

Does anyone find it amazing that the chiefs haven't had a high draft pick in years, have Mahomes and Jones on monster contracts and still have a much better D line and O line than us (and arguably better units at every position group) Same argument for the Eagles albeit they've had a few high-ish draft picks how do we get a GM who will supply us with the same

Anyone who doesn't do the following 1) ruin relationship with the games best left tackle and trade him for nothing 2) actually pick someone decent in the second round (no more Amerson/Cravens/Mathis/Ryan Andersons) 3) Don't piss away picks or past it or never were it qbs (3rds on Smith/Wentz) 4) have a balanced approach to building the team - not just all first rounders on one side of the all while neglecting the other

Welcome to the Redskins Chase Young DE Ohio State

He was certainly overdrafted. A top 15 picks yes, 2nd pick no. We wanted Garrett and got Clowney. Herbert and Tua were huge risks at the time though, and both would've been destroyed by this organization. -
Young feels similar to Clowney but without the elite run blocking. Too flashy, not healthy and reliable enough, takes too many plays off Will Compton had about 10% of Youngs athleticism yet he'd always be plodding after RB's til the sideline whereas Young gives up if he doesn't beat his blocker first time
