Our entire O-line should be graded as a dud until we crawl out of the last place in the League in sacks allowed.

As of this moment we are dead last with a terrible 24. That's a cool 6 PER GAME.

Second-worst is Chicago with 17 sacks allowed. They are 0-4 and possibly the worst team in the League.

That's pathetic and surely deserves a "Group Dud".

Again, the difference is this year they have Jalen Carter and a second year Jordan Davis. Running on them is going to be really hard

It's that or trying to play arena league football with them.

This is one of those games were running first, passing occasionally and hoping for a solid D is paramount to a win.

Run? The Bucs were only able to get 41 yards running on them last night lol

Do you propose we try to go pass-happy on them?

Runrunrun and solid D = win

I said the same thing some years ago: this PHI team tends to treat our O-line like a sack of potatoes.

The only way to handle them is run run run directly at them so they tire until some passing lanes open up like we did last year. Extremely conservative football.

    Otherwise we're looking at a 40 burger.

TH was likely more decisive because he'd been in Turner's offense for so long...maybe Howell is struggling in two major facets; learning the speed and details of reading defenses of the NFL game and learning EB's offense?

Did you see the stat tonight that Jaylen Hurts is 19-1 in his last 2 regular season starts???? Only the 2022 Commanders beat him. Pretty amazing....and it was in Philly. We played that game close to the vest and dominated time of possession...maybe RR needs to sit EB down and watch that game over some beers and cheesesteaks.

Yes, a game we won with TH at the helm.

Sam needs to learn the system yes, but his style of play seems ill-fitted for this O-line.

As everyone knows he's a "big play" guy with a big arm. His runs are valuable, but he ain't as agile as TH, who seemed to have eyes on his back and extend plays in uncanny ways.

I really REALLY hope he does not end up like Ramsey, who had similar physical attributes

but was hampered by terrible schemes from his coaches.

There was a masking effect all right, and it was because TH sucked so bad, we didn't even try to pass the ball and thus our terrible pass blocking was less exposed.

    Unreal

Yep, all of those things you listed are spot-on.

And yet, in games with teams as solid as Buffalo a semi-rookie is gonna struggle big time with our paper mache O-Line.

I'm not sure that would have happened to the former guy since the coaches were building the O in a very conservative way.

So yes, I firmly believe our deficiencies were masked by TH running like a madman when he faced strong defenses and only threw when he absolutely needed to. Now with Howell we are getting totally exposed in a bad way.

The question now is are these guys better scouts than they are GMs, that is, while finding solid players they fail to grasp the big picture of putting together the crucial elements of a team that will succeed?

Ok, but don't we have an actual real-life GM in Mayhew now?

All offseason a group of folks here (and many others around the world) have pointed to the OL and said, "not good... please fix".

Most of us with two eyes said that.

The reality is that our obvious OL weakness was kind of masked when the QB Who Shall Not Be Named was around here (plays in Atlanta now?)

So when facing good to very DLs like Buffalo our semi-rookie QB crumbles.

I can't believe I'm saying this but the former QB not named Wentz would probably have fared bettered against the Bills.

    fishers stats: 178–171–1 (.510)

    riveras stats 103–96–2 (.517)

Both are mediocre, but Fisher's Titans were always exciting.

Lots of very good seasons there of 10+ wins.

    Here in DC? Nada.

    8 wins? :ols:

    Did you see the schedule?

Nah. It means nothing. Every season is different than the last so good teams will turn bad suddenly and viceversa.

    .

  10. Frankly, any sort of season without Snyder already seems like a win.

But you're right. We've done close to nothing this offseason to better ourselves on the field.

Probably 8-9 after a slow start. Gotta go with the averages.

As much as we need O-line I am just terrified at TE.

I didn't think we had a good group last year and this year its even worse.

Everyone left either has not shown they are capable of getting fully back from injury, or have not displayed the ability to be dependable and stay healthy.

The amount of proven production available at the position gives me nightmares.

Bates has 34 career recs. (Thank goodness he can block)

Turner has 1 more rec than his career tackle total of 1.

    Hodges has 0

I need to find a Voodoo Queen willing to accept sacrifices on behalf of Logan's health.

Plz sign somebody w a lil XP.

I was really surprised when we took exactly ZERO TEs in this year's draft given how important it has been for EB's offensive strategy for years now.

If he wants to even come close to what he achieved in KC that should have been one of the top priorities here.

    No doubt.

What grabs me is the infautation with the national media and the NY Giants.  A year ago they were the step child of this division.  Now its us.

We tie them in one game.  And the other game had some questionable calls and "Redacted" put up another one of his vintage late season stinkers and this team still almost beat them.

Yet the Sporting News doesn't think we now belong on the same planet with the Giants.  It's wild.   It's not just Sporting News

Does it mean anything now?  Of course not.  But for reasons I've spelled out in other threads, I hate the Giants and hate all the love they are getting this off season. :ols:

    It's just a QB thing.

Any outsider can analyze our QB situation and safely say it's "unproven" because it is.

With [redacted] at least we knew what we were getting, but right now it's a complete enigma.

Big media is just doing the safe thing by placing us below the other NFC East teams. On paper we certainly look worse than them.

Does anyone look at what we have at OL, and then look at what the teams in our division have on their DL, and not panic?

I think we light, and low on talent. Offensively, we have been bad, and it all starts up front.

I guess we'll be ok defensively, and be 30th in points, and wonder why we missed the playoffs again, and finished last in the division......again.

    Same here.

RR is thinking he's got the 2001 Raves here.

  14. This kid looks nothings like Darrell Green or Fred Smoot.

Forbes is more lanky and because of this looks thinner. The older guys did NOT have this body type.

But he's also no Champ Bailey (most complete CB I have seen).

I really don't know what to make of this pick. There must be some hidden reason the FO fell in love with him but I'm not seeing it.

Is Ball Hawk really just code for someone improvises successfully?

Less improvisation, more like betting on himself IMO.

Except Kelce was a 3rd rounder.  No need to spend big draft capital on a TE.  If we go tight end and a good OT is on the board:

Kelce yes, but Tony G was a 1st round pick.

I can't shake the feeling Bieniemy will push hard for a TE bc it's been a mark of success in KC.

Dude carries some serious clout as Assitant HC and combined with the diminishing importance of Dan we could see some clarity in our drafting strategy for once.

I don’t know who it will be but I want a goddamn LT and I don’t care about anything else.  And I would support a move up to 10-ish to get one in a higher band.

    Give me a LT.

Im going to scream if we spend another damn first round pick on a defensive guy.  It would be every draft except one on defense since 1913 or something.

    I want an offensive tackle.

Yep, it's either offensive tackle, CB or TE bro.

I'm leaning on TE also, as some have said. It worked for KC pretty well.

It wasn't the FO, it was the guy who is about to sail out of town forever.

I was including him in our "braintrust".

If I recall correctly this was the era where, theoretically, he was more "hands off".

I don't think he EVER took his hands off player personnel decisions.

    And here we are...
