  1. Maybe Jingmen spells Wuhan in Chinese. I'll try arranging the letters vertically to see. Ha. I was being a bit sarcastic, but at any rate thank you for the iink and your insight of this stuff.
  2. Good link. But I can see a problem right away. They spell Wuhan as "Jingmen." So all the people in Wuhan are going to think they're in the clear because they're not on the map.
  3. Well, this could get ugly within China. I can't imagine that the "People's Armed Police" are going to take kindly to civilians circumventing the quarantine lines.
  4. Damn, where's Will Smith when we need him. He's humanity's savior, according to the Time Magazine cover in the film.
  5. I don't understand how you can control an outbreak like this (assuming its transmission rate is equivalent to an average flu) in a city of 11 million people. BTW- I had no idea Wuhan even existed until all of this broke loose. China has some seriously packed cities, New York is about 8 million (according to the same website, i know, i know..... there's different methods to measuring a city's population blah blah blah). Oh, and it looks like about half the population left before the Wuhan was quarantined. https://nypost.com/2020/01/27/half-of-wuhans-population-fled-town-before-lockdown-raising-risk-of-spread/ If, of course, you trust the NYPost.
  6. I'm willing to bet that China's idea of a "pop-up hospital" is more like "1000 cots/mattresses in a parking lot under a large canopy, with space heaters to keep people warm and generators to run any medical equipment." Edit: With the #1 priority being that the location is out of public view to prevent any negative press. Better to just call it a "pop-up hospital" than an "obvious attempt to get sick people away from prying eyes."
  7. So is the media over reporting it, under reporting it, or what? How do we honestly know? Is the CDC trustworthy? I certainly hope so. Is China trustworthy? Of course its not. Are CNN and FoxNews trustworthy? Perhaps moreso on this type of issue because its (at least not yet) not overly political. Watch what happens if a certain someone issues a travel ban and refuses to allow Chinese citizens and people who have traveled to Wuhan into the U.S. FoxNews will tell you its the new black plague, and CNN will tell you its not all that bad, but even if it was we should still let everyone in without restriction, testing, quarantine, etc.
  8. hmmm..... Looks like they're in precisely the right place to fight it then!! Too bad they don't know anything about it yet though. I mean, if they had synthesized it or something that would be different, but since they had nothing to do with this strange disease popping up out of nowhere, I guess they'll just have to get down to brass tacks right away!! Or maybe some guy will show up with a mysterious IV bag and try to nip it all in the bud like Morgan Freeman.
  9. Sounds a little bit like Ebola schmiola. What the death vs. survival rate on this thing?
  10. Here's one of my favorite far side cartoons. I'm not saying its anywhere near time to panic over this, but if there's like a 1/1000 chance this breaks out into a real plague hindsight will be 20/20:
  11. Wonderful..... Had to have come from some sort of weirdo messing with exotic animals. So, China is probably both the worst place and the best place for something like this to break out. (1) The government will likely cover-up/squelch any evidence of transmission throughout the country, which will lead to the spread of the disease to other regions, and (2) Once the government pinpoints a breakout, they'll quarantine the region in way that ensures maximum protection (i.e. through methods we can't do here without getting in serious trouble). https://www.studyfinds.org/chinese-coronavirus-outbreak-traced-back-to-snakes-study-finds/
  12. So, can anyone here determine if KOC is the wonderboy that he is/was supposed to be based on the final 8 games of the year? My assumption is that a 3 hour interview won't tell the tale either, but Rivera should have the authority to put together his own staff. Anything less would undermine him from day 1. I have to assume if KOC returns, it will be because Rivera was impressed enough, and also got proper intel from other sources. EDIT: So there was an article published yesterday on riggosrag indicating that five coaches, including O'Connell, were being retained and that all others were let go. It turns out that those 5 coaches are not necessarily "retained," but instead just haven't been immediately let go.
  13. Spartacus. Thought Kirk Douglas was too old to play the lead role of gladiator/revolutionary. Decent overall story though and good performances.
  14. Thank you Larry. The franchise deserved a finale that tied up loose ends, gave the main characters proud deaths, and left the new class (with the exception of Jeb Porkins' grand-nephew, who got stabbed in the lung) with hope for the future.
  15. I'm pretty sure c3po is just a gay male droid.
  16. This movie was amazing. BTW- I was pretty sure that Finn and Po were going to make out at the end because I heard in a review that there was a homosexual kiss. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I kept checking off characters as the movie went on. At first I thought maybe Leia but she seemed like a late in lie lesbian but then she died. Then i thought maybe chewy and some other male animal because that would check the box in a pretty vanilla not controversial way. Then i thought the fat x- wing pilot because he jut appeared out of no where and there were lots of other male pilots running around the base. Then i thought Finn because he was sort of without a love interest because Rey seemed interested in Kylo. Then I thought Po because it looked like he played that warrior girl just to get her help then made a lame excuse to not go off with her. So I was sure we would see it right at the end. But then it ended up being the one woman everyone knew was a lesbian and some other random girl. What a let down.
  17. The problem with the Mandalorian series so far is that there have far too many "fights" where either the main character beats 50 incompetent guys on his own, or where he's about to be killed but some miraculously absurd thing happens to save him at the last second. It might have been better if the yoda baby thing saved the Mandalorian guy from one major fight at the end of the season as sort of a cliffhanger. I'll let the real nerds decide though. BTW- To use the force, don't even trolls have to have a little bit of training? Also is this baby Yoda the son of the real Yoda? Is their a yoda planet somewhere? The real Yoda was like 650 when he died. Does that mean that Yodas age differently, sort of like dogs, so 10 years is like 1 year in yoda years? Does baby yoda make an appearance in episode IX as a 35 year old Yoda, with the maturity of a 3.5 year old child?
  18. Watching major league now. It's very bad to steal Jobu's rum..... very bad.
  19. The force is actually not that big of a deal. Edit: As it pertains to Yoda and the Skywalkers, of course.
  20. Ad Astra. Only good part was when the chimp attacked Brad Pitt. Edit: The part in the beginning where Brad Pitt fell off the space ladder was also pretty cool. If they'd had the chimp push him off the ladder or maybe attack him on the way down the movie could have been 3 minutes. Would have been masterpiece.
  21. So apparently Hamill is complaining about Luke's storyline in ep. 9. Must mean its going to be pretty good. Someone needs to explain to him that ghosts usually don't have a lot of face time in movies unless the title of the movie is 'Ghost," or "Casper the Friendly Ghost," or "Space Ghost"
  22. Not surprisingly, ESPN chalks the Nationals game 2 victory up to a combination of luck and kookiness. Can't imagine how this team could have possibly legitimately gotten to Verlander, after all. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/27916105/the-nationals-pulled-two-wins-title-one-wacky-inning
  23. What if Rey is really Chewy's daughter? Seriously though, why did Lucas try so hard to jam Chewy into the prequels? This whole scene with Yoda was so unnecessary. So... Luke just happens to run into Jan and this Chewy guy 20 years later at a bar. Obi wan is there, but I guess he and Yoda never discussed Chewy during the Clone wars. And then in ESB, Chewy doesn't bother mentioning to Luke his strong ties to a certain Jedi master named Yoda, and Yoda might be the guy he's supposed to find (i.e. Yoda is a little green guy, so don't be surprised when you see him) and train with. And then Yoda doesnt bother to mention to Luke that he's old friends with Chewy and his esteemed family.
