  1. Am I allowed to comment @skinsmarydu, or do you need to approve that first? Congrats on becoming admin of the board!

I have really struggled with this one, as I want to have a conversation past the “oh look a victim blamer”. But - I think all of the participants (Kyle included) were all guilty of the same thing. This isn’t a simple incident. I believe the outcome of the case was accurate.

I was really hoping Kyle had learned a lesson and would avoid become a far right mascot….but Tucker made sure that didn’t happen.

You're asking where the parents are.  The answer is that they can't find some of the parents.  There are many different reasons for why that is, but that's what it boils down to.  If there's another point that I've missed, feel free to elaborate exactly what that point is.

Actually, I’m asking where the CHILDREN are….

I feel like you are deliberately attempting to not understand me at this point.

Some of the plaintiffs are families who have already been reunited and now seeking financial compensation. Some plaintiffs are children whose parents still can't be located.  I don't think there are any parents who would receive financial settlement but would still be denied reunification with their children (though best interest of the child could dictate such a result, I'm not aware of any case where an identified parent was denied reunification due to the intervening events that occurred after separation.  I guess it's possible though)

You seem to really still be missing my main point.

I'm not defending the Biden administration nor would I care if you attacked them.  When a debacle of this magnitude happens, no one really gets to walk away without blame.

They are treated like other unaccompanied children.  Legal guardians if someone obtains such status.  Relatives in US if they can be located.  USCIS sponsors if no one else is available (essentially foster parents).  Group homes as a last or interim resort.

So. If we can find the parents to pay them. Why can’t we find the parents to reunite them. This is what I am completely confused about.

Trump administration kept terrible records on the children being separated, many cases not even noting the parents' information.  Then they sat on it for couple of years and now the new administration is trying sift through the shoddy records to make sense of it all.  It's not too surprising that they can't connect the kids to the parents in foreign countries.  I think one judge wrote that the government keeps better track of its properties than they did with the kids being separated.

    Again.

    Where are they?

    Not metaphorically.
    Physically.

Are they still in cages? Were they sold to rich white families under the guise of adoption? Are they being sex trafficked? Are they safe in legit foster homes?

You seem to think I’m somehow blaming the Biden administration. I’m simply trying to figure out….where the actual children are.

Again, if he’s found innocent, successfully arguing it was self-defense, you couldn’t charge her with manslaughter. That means the DA was successful in proving it wasn’t premeditated. It’s also hard to prove child endangerment if she continues to deny ever driving him to the protest.

My understanding is the gun was in Kinosha at his step-father’s.

Premeditation is a requirement for manslaughter now? 🕵🏼‍♀️👩🏼‍⚖️

Maybe, but the fact of the matter is there’s a good chance he’ll get off, and if that happens he’ll be seen as a hero and everything he did will ultimately earn him a pretty penny. This is more a systematic failure.

Everything you described is future based. I’m talking about how we even got here.

His mother should be brought up on charges.

No doubt.  I saw a little of his testimony and clearly doesn’t think the law applies to him:

    Doesn’t have a driver’s license, drives anyway.

Too young to buy a gun, gets a straw purchaser.

Knows that there is a curfew in Kenosha, well other people are violating it so it doesn’t apply to him.

Celebrates his release at a bar.

He may believe that the law applies to others, but he definitely doesn’t believe they apply to him.

Just another reason parenting should require approval prior to procreation. He is the product of a failed upbringing.

Of course its not legit to someone who disagrees with it. That is the problem in our country right now. Mom goes to a school board meeting and spills her guts out and the other side says "seems legit". Scary times in this nation. And with that I will go back to the stadium and talk QB's. You all enjoy your echo chamber.

Let me break this down. This isn’t “the problem with our country right now”. One of the problems with our country right now is the lack of people to use critical thinking skills. See those that disagree with you are engaged in critical thinking. You on the other hand are engaged in this-supports-my-narrative-so-I-refuse-to-look-at-it-critically.

Others aren’t in an echo chamber. Which is why we all took the time to read your link, search for other articles that aligned with the story, researched on our own the origin to the story and slide, and asked you to elaborate and provide additional context. That right there, that’s critical thinking. That’s how we are able to ensure the things we are filing away in our brain of facts and truths…..are actually facts and truths.

Awesome. Congrats. My reply was to someone who said CRT was a lie and was not being taught in LoCo schools. And I can tell you for a FACT that that is bull****.

CRT isn’t a lie. Saying that CRT is being taught in K12 is a lie.
By chance are you a trained educator? Either for children or adult learners? Are you an instructor? Are you versed in training and development?

As someone who can answer yes to a couple of those….those disciplines are filled with theories and philosophical and psychological teachings. That’s how we learn to engage our students. It is how we ensure as a single entity we are able to hold the attention of and actually embed knowledge in our classes of multiple humans - simultaneously nonetheless.

Would you be irate to learn that we also than teach differently to:

girls/women versus boys/men (END SEXISM IN SCHOOLS!) or

boomers/genx/mill/genz/k12 (END AGEISM IN SCHOOLS!) or

gifted vs special Ed (END ABLEISM IN SCHOOLS!)

So stop thinking that you have any degree of credibility or have come to us with any actual evidence. You are living a farce, we are not.

I don't look at it from the perspective of the workers involved. Rather, to me, its about the child.  Secure attachment, to both parents, has been clearly shown to be beneficial later in life, and lack of any attachment hugely detrimental.  Just like we group invest to ensure all children have access to education in their formative years, I think all of us chipping in together to make sure a strong bond between parents and children exists from the get go is a worthwhile investment.

If the goal really is doing what is best for the child…..shouldn’t we be marching towards single income families?

I also like the idea of just expanding FMLA to cover child birth/bonding for the 4-12 weeks.

clarification - FMLA does currently cover 12 weeks of child birth needs. FMLA just is NON-PAID leave. My proposal is expanding what FMLA covers, making it paid, and applying to all companies (currently 50+ employees only)

here’s a good chart for all of you - https://www.dol.gov/sites/dolgov/files/oasp/legacy/files/paidleavefinalrulecomparison.pdf

also PFML is what exists right now. And it’s a paid “insurance”. So pointing to this is the same as pointing to using STD and LTD to pay for maternity leave. It requires planning (you can’t enroll after pregnant as that’s a pre-existing), it requires your employer to offer it, and you have to pay for it.

Who is staffing these schools?  The parents who dictate what the curriculum will be.

But they couldn’t even manage to teach supervise their their own child at home.

That area is interesting. It’s flooded with military people. It’s not a typical city in any real sense.

As someone who grew up in Virginia Beach, I'm not surprised that a Navy and CBN dominated city continues to vote red.

Granted I left in 1999 for good, so perhaps things have changed. But the military votes overwhelmingly red.

friendly reminder - active duty don’t typically vote in their duty station, as it’s not their residency state. So active duty aren’t voting in VA. Also, I can tell you the overwhelming majority of MilSpouses lean pretty far blue. But again, they aren’t voting in the state they are stationed.

also - Youngkin lived in VA Beach for part of his life. He had “hometown” advantage around these parts. His campaign drummed up his connection here.

also also - I do not get why VAB gets a bad rap. The art district and amazing restaurants and finds here are pretty stellar.

If people believe in choice and all, would it be possible to designate, say, 50% of schools be only staffed with fully vaccinated people and allow kids to wear masks. And the other 50% you get to roll the dice. And see how many anti-vaccine and anti-mask people want to roll the dice.

who is staffing the “roll the dice” schools? From what I see, teachers are very pro vaxx and masks.

In 2020 Florida had a net increase of 300k, and is on track to do the same in 2021.

According to the census, California lost 180k+ residents in 2020

I think you are having some data analysis errors. See the census is only every 10 years. You’ll note both CA and FL showed a drop from 2019 (guesstimate) to 2020 (census count). Non-census years are best estimates….census years true up and try to be a legitimate count. Both FL and CA are back up in their counts from the 2020 census results.

you should always question when trying to prove a point with two different data points. IE: only counting gaining entries to FL while only counting exit entries to CA.
