No it's not..Jimmy Garoppolo made it to a SB without being elite..Elite Defense will always beat a Elite Offense always has and always will

Ok and do we have Kyle Shanahan to scheme an offense around him? No, we don't. And offense wins championships now. It's been that way for the past 20 years.

Problem is this team isn't ready to be aggressive and get your guy..They need to finish the Defense this year and next year trade up for a QB.

No they don't. It's way easier to fill holes on defense than it is to find a franchise QB.

I am thinking long term..Your just gonna waste that DL because you have no LB's or FS..Finish the Defense and then work on the QB..Everyone will be ****ing and moaning the minute every TE runs though the middle of this Defense this year.

There is no "wait for your QB" anymore in the modern NFL. You have to be agressive to get your guy.

It would be stupid to trade up and give up a bunch of picks for a player that won't even be on the field this year..The Defense needs a LB and FS to make it elite..finish the Defense and worry about QB next year.

Think about the long term, not the short term. Ron wants to make sure he is set up with a signal caller that will keep the team in contention for a while.

Fields will be gone at 3. Lance is a big gamble just from playing time standpoint. For me it would be to much capital to move up to get Lance. I even think Jones would be a gamble at #19....but I have become a "more picks is better" guy so I'm trading back and looking at Mills or Monds. Just my gut feel, I have nowhere near the experience some of you have.

Bruh how is Fields going to be gone at 3 if most analysts say they’re taking Jones

    Hypothetical:

    49ers take Jones.

Lets say the Falcons trade down with the Broncos who take either Fields or Lance.

Bengals take Chase and Dolphins take Sewell.

We can trade up with the Lions, offering 19, our higher 3rd, and next year's 1st. Both Pitts and whoever is left between Fields or Lance(lets assume you evaluate them both the same)are available. Who do you take?

I know we want a franchise QB but man Pitts would put our offensive skill talent amongst the best in the league. Would make attracting a disgruntled vet like Rodgers or Wilson next year VERY appealing.

There is no justification for not taking the QB. You can't pass on that opportunity for the low chance that a veteran not only becomes available but wants to come here.

Rappaport tweeted last night that trades are probably unlikely this year because most will be hesitant to trade out of blue-chip target territory. I'm sure someone could/would fall and others will want to trade up for certain players, but would just expect fewer trades in general. So for those of us saying "just trade down at #19" there's a pretty good chance that we aren't even getting any calls from anyone to move up. Which is how you end up drafting someone like Moehrig at #19 when he's not necessarily a value position.

Feeling very "meh" about this draft early. We either have to go up for Fields or we are going to be stuck with a player that half the league has graded as a Round 2 player.

Atlanta Miami Detroit Carolina are all reported to be looking to trade down. It’s about accquiring 2022 capital on top of everything.

I know everyone(most) thinks there are no franchise QB in ‘22...

I dont agree with that narrative.

    not one bit.
outside of Lawrence, how many people here knew who trey lance or mac jones was last year at this time...?

there will be guys that rise up and play great college ball next year and elevate their game to new levels and get into the conversation.
point being, WFT will be just fine without drafting a qb this time around.

Everyone knew who Trey Lance was this time last year. Everyone knew who Justin Fields was. The existing QBs in 2022 aren’t even remotely on that level. It’s just a terrible class and nobody is going to be in range where we would pick even if someone did break out. Get ready for eternal mediocrity under Ron.

IMO, it comes down to OL or LB on at #19. Forget all the trade up talk.  It took the Chiefs forking over 4 draft picks to get Orlando Brown.  This would be the twice that if not the RG3 x 10

You have a poor understanding of trade value. The 7-8 pick is far less valuable than 2nd overall, even from 19.

Rapoport this time did mention the WFT as a possible team to trade up for a QB after talking about NE potentially doing it.  Then he mentioned the Bears.

Seems like the talking heads both on TV and the radio today want to hand Fields to NE.  Like its NE's game and the only question is does any other team crash their story.

Do you have a link to it?
