  1. The defense was not putrid in 2018. It wasn't good, but it wasn't putrid. They averaged less points given up in 2018 than what they gave up this season in the first 10 games. The good thing about this team is that in addition to the defensive line playing lights out, we have a complimentary rushing attack which seems to be working.
  2. Taylor is 9-7 in starts where he threw the ball more than 25 times over the last two seasons. Carson Wentz is 6-12 in that same stretch.
  3. I'm old enough to remember when people were ready to build statues for Alex "all he does is win" Smith when the team was 6-4 in 2018.
  4. Jack Del Rio leaving Twitter was the best thing for this defense...change my mind.
  5. I was just thinking if there were any teams out there that I would swap any quarterback on their roster for Heinicke for this team this year and could think of a few where I would prefer Heinicke to everyone on their current roster: Panthers, Saints, Jets, Colts, Texans, and Saints. I looked up ESPN's QBR and Heinicke would be ranked 22nd in the league right now. That's above Baker Mayfield (last), Matt Ryan (25th), Zach Wilson (24th), and Davis Mills (nex to last). Only Dalton is ranked higher.
  6. A. is fair and I would agree. Given the tone from media folks, especially Keim, I would be shocked if we saw Howell at all this year.
  7. I want to see Howell at some point. Rivera himself said that he considered putting Howell in due to caution over Heinicke, but decided to run the ball instead. They are terrified of playing Howell. This is Colt Brennan 2.0 all over again. If he was really a first round pick who fell to us miraculously, he wouldn't be inactive. Heinicke probably wouldn't even be on this roster if that were the case.
  8. Well if Howell was remotely close to being ready, you would keep him as the backup and keep Wentz inactive. Because you know what you've got in Wentz and it's 'meh'. Based off of everything the local guys have been reporting, he's not even remotely close to being ready. Folks outside of DC are wondering why we traded for Wentz in the first place at this point.
  9. The fact that they are going to make him inactive once Wentz is healthy should tell you all you need to know about Howell at this point.
  10. It's not "cherry picking" stats when pointing out that there wasn't a "largely better" difference between the two. And I did not say that he was much improved. Someone said that Wentz's stats were "largely better" and they were not. Also, this means that Wentz is who the Colts knew what he was. Good backup with a good arm.
  11. Wentz had 2 more touchdowns, 1 more turnover, 8 more sacks, an 82.3 passer rating to an 82.7 rating from Heinicke in his first four starts. There wasn't some magical drop off in performance here.
  12. It's a hard no from me on Carr. Mainly because that will be the 3rd straight year where go after another team's cast off. 2nd straight year where they trade for one. And to me you only do that if you love the guy as a player.
  13. Goff's stats from 2016 to present: https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/G/GoffJa00.htm#2016-2022-sum:passing Carr's stats from 2016 to present: https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/C/CarrDe02.htm#2016-2022-sum:passing IMO both Goff and Carr would be an upgrade to what we have now, but you aren't winning a Super Bowl with either of them, so what's the point?
  14. What do Derek Carr, Tom Brady, Carson Wentz, and Taylor Heinicke all have in common? None of them should be the starting quarterback here in 2023.
  15. I want to see a 40 minute time of possession before this season is over.
  16. I saw some comparisons to Alex Smith and Taylor Heinicke. The Alex Smith formula was if you held the opposing team to 17 points or fewer, they would win. They never won a game that Alex Smith started where the opposition scored 18+. I was curious how the other quarterbacks under Rivera have performed in these situations. Here's their records as starters when the opposing team scores 18+ points. Dwayne Haskins: 0-5 Alex Smith: 0-1 Kyle Allen: 0-3 Ryan Fitzpatrick: 0-1 Carson Wentz: 1-4 Taylor Heinicke: 6-8 Heinicke has been the only starting quarterback to win more than 1 game. So I do think there is something about the team playing differently with Smith or Heinicke. But I think it's obvious that Smith was the safer player than Heinicke.
  17. With all of the **** that went down with Snyder over the last week to Rivera losing his mother...I don't know how the man can keep his sanity. He should probably get the Presidentiall Medal of Freedom for what he's gone through with this franchise.
  18. You sure showed that...calendar.
  19. They beat the undefeated Steelers in 2020. They beat the undefeated Raiders coin prediction guy in 2021. And now they beat the undefeated Eagles in 2022. Rivera's teams are so weird man.
  20. The thread title has been changed multiple times by OP to purposefully mock Heinicke, and was changed again after the loss against Minnesota. And just like the Hive disappears when he has a bad game, OP is nowhere to be seen now.
