  1. Holy ****ing ****! OMG!!!!! What a shot at the buzzer.
  2. I'll be perfectly honest, I read the posts bashing the Bobcats and their fan support and decided to join in the conversation. Charlotte being irrelevant was pointed out so I felt the desire to point out that neither team has really been relevant when you take a look at it. I have nothing but love for DC. Of course I'm a Redskins fan and that will never change. I'm a Braves fan, so I want to finish better than the Nationals, but I don't hate the Nationals. I do hate the Mets and Phillies and don't really care about the Marlins at all. In hockey, I pulled for the Blackhawks until we got the Hurricanes, and while in the same conference as the Capitals, I don't hate them at all. Basketball, I support Charlotte now, but definitely have nothing but love for the Wizards. Just having a little fun man.
  3. Ixcuincle, you know I've never had any issues with you man. But I will extend the Pepsi Challenge to you and anyone on here for that matter. Quote any post that I have made where I said the Bobcats are relevant or a contender, better than the Wizards, etc. Good luck to all, because it doesn't exist. I said the Bobcats are a good team, building the right way and hopefully on the upswing of becoming a consistently good team and playoff contender. And they were a good team this year, so were the Wizards, only one game separated them in the win/loss column. That's it, nothing more, nothing less. If the Heat didn't bench LeBron and Bosh, most likely you guys lose, we end up with the same record and since they were 3-1 against the Wizards head to head this season, they get to play Toronto, a team we swept in the regular season and the Wizards get the Heat. It didn't play out like that though. So, good luck in round 2 of the playoffs against the Pacers/Hawks. Yes I know, if my aunt had balls she would be my uncle.
  4. One can look at it as an opportunity to advance and play for or win a championship. Now, what the team makes out of that opportunity is on them. Of course every fan of their respective teams wants to win and advance to the next round, etc. But, I don't think we should discredit any team making the playoffs and putting them in a position to play for a championship. I'd love to have won at least one or two games and make it competitive, but at the end of the day, getting swept 4-0 or losing 4-2, or 4-1 has the same end result, elimination. It sucks, but thats life. Now if this continues and we make the playoffs only to lose 4-0 in the first round every time we advance, yeah, that will get old real flipping quick lol.
  5. Well they definitely don't want to risk playing on the road, in game seven, regardless of how far the Pacers have declined in the last little bit.
  6. Calm down Ozy, I don't hate the Wizards at all, in fact I'm rooting for you guys in the playoffs. And I'm not crying about anything, but bringing up championships that happened before you were born or were old enough to actually watch the game live and remember it is silly. That would be the equivalent of me boasting about the NFL championships the Redskins won in 1937 and 1942 pre-merger. Plus you are comparing a franchise with 53 years existence to a 10 year old expansion team. The Bobcats haven't won a playoff game. Point to anywhere in this thread where I have indicated that the Bobcats were even a relevant team, you can't. They are nothing more right now than a team that is starting to build through the draft and free agency starting with a solid foundation. And a team, I would like to think is on the upswing of becoming a consistent playoff contender. You act as if the Wizards are the Celtics/Lakers of the 80s or the Bulls of the 90s. When history shows they have not been that relevant themselves since 1988. It's ok Ozy, they were a force to be reckoned with from 1969-1978, I'll give you that It's all in fun man, quit taking things so serious
  7. I thought his post was funny. Are you really going to compare a 53 year old franchise's success to the 10 year Bobcats? LOL, come on man. How old were you when they made the NBA finals or won there championship? I have zero hate for the Wizards/Bullets. But lets be realistic, outside of this year winning round 1 and the possibility of getting the #8 seed in the next round (should the Pacers continue to slide) what have they done that was so outstanding, even when compared to the Bobcats? Look at the past 10 years, they had a nice run of playoff appearances four straight seasons from 2004 - 2007 (winning 41-45 games/season), then five years of subpar play, capped off by this years season of 44 wins and making the playoffs. The Bobcats are an expansion team and one that has already switched ownership in its young 10 year history. Not to mention one where the first owner didn't give a **** and put zero effort into building a team. Our first five years, we had seasons with 18, 26, 33, 32 and 35 wins respectively. Now if you want to compare the last five years, the Bobcats have more wins (149) than the Wizards (142) and more playoff appearances, Bobcats (2) and Wizards (1). And that is calculating in the worst season in NBA history with only 7 wins in the 2011-2012. With all that said, I'm happy for you guys, y'all have a great opportunity to possibly get to the eastern conference finals if things play out in your favor. I'm just looking forward to the re-branding and continued building towards continued success (hopefully).
  8. What have the Wizards done up until this year? Outside of beating the Bulls in 2005, then losing in the first round the next three years. The last time they made the NBA finals I was 4 years old (1979) and they were the Bullets. Most likely you weren't even born yet We all know the Bobcats have sucked. With the franchise logo change back to the Hornets and MJ bringing in a good GM and willing to pay players now, I anticipate that there will be a lot more fan support starting next season. They have a long way to go, but a decent foundation to build on.
  9. I can't see why anyone would be giving Mr. Sinister **** for having fun lol. WTF? I blame Donald Sterling!
  10. LOL, that was funny as ****. The only Bobcat shirt I own was a freebie from the first home game in the new arena and it didnt even fit lol. I was a Jordan/Bulls fan growing up, because we didn't have a team when he turned pro and my family and I are huge UNC basketball fans. Hell, I didn't grow up in Charlotte (2 hours away) so I didn't feel like I owed the Hornets anything. But, I did watch/attend their games and pulled for them when they weren't playing the Bulls. To be perfectly honest, once Jordan retired (the second time) and they blew up the team, I started to become dedicated to the Hornets and was willing to offer full support. Then all the **** happened with Shinn and they moved the team. When we got the Bobcats, I was happy to have the NBA back in town, no doubt, then Bob Johnson got cute and practically ruined getting any support for the team at all. Now that Jordan owns the team, has hired a GM to run things, is willing to put money into contracts and we are changing back to the Hornets, it will be a lot easier to jump in and actually buy gear (jerseys, hats, etc.). Sure, I pulled for the Bobcats, but I refused to buy gear because the product on the floor was horrible and there wasn't any indication until now that it would change. And anyone (sorry Smitty), that thought the Bobcats would beat the Heat was delusional imo. To force 5 or 6 games would be about the best I thought that team could do. With a healthy Jefferson and a lot of luck on our side, that might have been possible, but we will never know. Its over, Heat roll on, Cats go home. I might be able to dig up and dust off my hornets t-shirt I had back in highschool that I got as a gift, but nobody wants to see me in that, trust me
  11. But why would you discredit the Hawks for knocking off the best team in the East (or 2nd best behind Miami, depending if you look at it beyond record alone). If they can light up the Pacers, what makes you think they wouldn't light up the Wizards? Of course, you would rather the Hawks win, you have home court advantage. But, they are playing extremely well right now. I don't think they will go down as easy as one would think. Plus, they still have to beat the Pacers anyhow.
  12. Yes, because we had our team ripped away from us and moved to New Orleans by Shinn. He wanted a new arena with luxury boxes, didn't want to pay market value for top players (he paid Larry "my neck and my back" Johnson to a ridiculous contract, but let Zo go to the Heat), etc. Two years later we get back a team that has to play in the old arena, which was fine. All kinds of issues happened with Bob Johnson as owner, arena controversy (carry over from 2001 when Shinn was involved), his bright idea to agree to show games on a new channel called C-Set only available on TWC with an upgrade to their digital package (**** you Bob Johnson!). People with DirectTV or Dish were **** out of luck and I think we only got to watch 4-6 games that were nationally televised. Johnson put no money into building a winning product, he didn't care what-so-ever about the team. Of course attendance is low, you had a winning product on the floor and led the team in attendance for 8 straight years in the largest arena in the league (it was at the time it was built), even when you weren't making the playoffs, only to have it ripped away from you. Then some jerk comes in and tries to force people to buy tickets to attend in person or force them to buy his new TV station to watch games, making it unavailable to half of the fans. Great way to revitalize the city to give a **** and pour more money into an NBA team. You can say what you want about MJ as an owner, he's definitely made huge mistakes in the past, but the best thing he's done, hire a really good GM, step back and write the checks. Also, bringing back the Hornets will be huge and should be that first step into winning back fans.
  13. Talking about the success of the teams lol, not comparing the cities. Yes, I know as a city, LA is a better destination than Charlotte, NC. LOL. Ok, lets change that to Oklahoma City. Come on, surely you would rather live in Charlotte, NC than OK City. Right?
  14. Hey! Leave Charlotte alone There is huge upside after this season. If MJ is willing to pay and he says he is, then its a possibility that they could land a handful of super stars via FA in the future. I'm sure nobody ever thought the Clippers would be a contender but they are. History indicates we will be an average team possibly making the playoffs as one of those 6-8 seed positions, but ya never know.
  15. I've only been to one Monday Night Raw and that was back on June, 28th 1999. And we couldn't have picked a better one. The Charlotte Coliseum was packed, 23K capacity crowd (in my Jim Ross voice). We couldn't have picked a better Raw to attend. We got the Sunday Night Heat taping for free, a couple of dark matches. We had Edge vs. The Godfather and by pure luck, we were sitting in isle seats in the section that Edge decided to come through the crowd to the ring in. So, on his way down me and my friend got to pat him on the back. I just looked at a clip of it and I'm pretty sure I saw one of us, some jackass had a sign up covering us up for the most part lol. Great match. Rock Vs. HHH, Billy Gun hit rock with a pipe, DQ, match lasted like less than two minutes. I was extremely disappointed. Jeff Jarret vs Xpac, Bradshaw vs. Billy Gun. But the best ever was Stone Cold vs. The Undertaker for the WWF Championship where Stone Cold pinned and won the title on Raw, which rarely happens. That place went ****ing nuts to say the least. Now, back then was during the attitude era, so it was geared more towards adults. The King was hilarious man, he would work the crowd before you went live and it was just awesome. Back when he was having them put lights on chicks with big "puppies", etc. With that said, before we went live, I remember this hot girl in a skin tight red dress, mid thigh (like one of Godfathers Ho's) was about 2-3 rows behind us, so she was up higher. Well her and another girl in the next section over, 10 rows below us (lets call her Average Girl) got into a boob flashing war. It was literally crazy, Average Girl flashes her boobs, their section erupts with cheers. Godfather Ho bends down, pops both her fake boobs out, our section erupts with cheers. This goes on a couple more times, then Average Girl, lifts her shirt, boyfriend behind her grabs them and shakes at GFH. Godfather Ho gets angry, she then turns around, bends over, pulls up her dress and shows her business. Both sections go ape ****. Next thing we know, both of them get in the isle and into a cat fight. Security bum rushes it and takes both of them into custody and kicks them out. Which was followed by mass heckling and boos. This was all before one of the greatest Raws ever even took place. Sorry to babble on, it was one of the craziest things I've seen at a wrestling event lol. With all that said, I see why they went towards the PG format. Has anyone been to any current events? Is it more kid friendly as far as the crowds go, or is it still a crap shot due to alcohol and crazy people (like a typical NFL game).
  16. Ok, lets toss it out there. Everyone, what's your age and when did you start watching wrestling. First live event (depending on age, includes house shows, etc.). I'll be 39 in June. I started watching wrestling in 1980-81, NWA was the first I watched. Flair, Anderson, etc. Back then, when Jim Crockett Promotions still booked house shows all over the Carolinas, in recreation centers (gyms), etc. My first live event was a JCP event, but was in that odd transition time back in 1984. I remember the main event was Tully Blanchard vs. Dirty Dick Slater. So I was age 9, standing in a huge crowd in the local public rec center gym, where I spent most of my time at as a child playing basketball, tennis, etc. I remember Dirty Dick coming out flipping off fans, calling us mother ****ers, etc. My first thought was, man, this is a lot different than what's on TV. I remember having fun watching it, booing the bad guys, etc. I wanted to see the Midnight Express, but they were not booked. If I remember correctly, Jim Cornette showed up with his tennis racket during one of the matches. It might have been the main event, its been 30 years, so I can't quite remember all the details. Edit: You have to remember, being a kid seeing Jim Cornette on TV with the Midnight Express, I thought it automatically meant I would get to see them that night, which I didn't lol. I had no understanding of how it "worked" back then.
  17. He did lose his wife to JJ and still had to work with both of them for a while. I'm sure personal life issues along with his body taking a beating, plus probably pain killers (booze maybe), stress took a huge toll on his body. I have no speculation that he did pain killers/drugs/alcohol, but it seems like a lot of those guys go down that path hardcore. Edit: Just read that he had a couple of stops where he was driving under the influence, one was dropped though. Plus they found HGH in his car. And then there was the whole WWE steroid investigation where they said he had in possession steroids without a prescription, granted it was expired and he had neck issues.
  18. Yeah, I just posted above, I took a couple of years off and was only casually watching it, no PPVs though. I'll have to go back and watch some of the PPV matches. I'm watching No Way Out 2002 right now, I remember all the hype up to this. I think this might have been the point where I stopped watching religiously again, after this PPV. No doubt that he was one of the main reasons TNA got better and survived for as long as it did (and by survive, I mean remained watchable).
  19. That would explain a lot, those occurred when I had taken a hiatus from watching wrestling. With the exception of the Samoa Joe feud in TNA, which I forgot about. I might have to check those out on PPV.
  20. Seems a little biased lol. Kurt Angle in the top 10? I just can't think of any "holy ****" matches with him or anything that was blockbuster. He was an excellent in ring technician, no doubt, excellent on the mic at times. Refresh my memory though, cause I'm old and it's been years, so I might not remember everything lol. Edit: Let me phrase this better, compared to most of the wrestlers everyone has listed in the top 10-15, I can't think of anything he's done that stood out to push him into the top 15, much less #6 overall. I know this is purely our opinions, so please don't take it as me being an ass or anything. I remember him having a really good feud with HHH and played a great heal. I'm looking for those PPV moments like Taker/Mankind, Edge's ladder matches, etc.
  21. Kdawg, I agree with most of your list. I think Bret Hart is pretty high and I would put Flair at #5, but that's just my opinion. I agree that Scott Hall was very underrated. I was a little surprised to see Kevin Nash so low on your list. I was a huge Nash/Diesel mark and he had excellent mic skills and cut great hilarious promos back in the day before he went to WCW. He had great mobility for one of the big guys (i.e. 6'9" - 7'0") and his jackknife powerbomb was one of the best finishing moves ever. He was excellent watching Michael's back, then solo as champion. Had great feuds with the Hitman and Taker for the championship belt. Because of him and Scott Hall, they revitalized WCW, especially after the Hogan heal turn and creation of the NWO. I'd have to rank him in the top 15, not sure where, but one can make the case. Once Big Daddy Cool Diesel was introduced, he did it all and made it work. As an enforcer, as a solo competitor, as a team (with Hall - the outsiders), as a faction (NWO), etc. He wasn't that bad in TNA in the beginning either. I'd like to see them bring him back as a manager or brains behind a faction. How sweet would it be for him to pop up at the next PPV during the Shield/Evolution match, bodies everywhere. His music hits, he walks down to the ring, everyone thinks he's coming to help out his buddy HHH. He steps over the top rope. Big boots Orton, power clothesline Batista over the top rope. HHH runs at him, kick in the gut, sidewalk slam. The Shield then regroups, Reigns spears HHH, pins him. All four join hands and raise them in victory. (one can dream right?)
  22. Just watched Fargo on DVR and I think its pretty awesome. Could turn out to be a great show in the long run.
  23. I hope it takes off, for the sake of competition. But they are competing to be #2 to WWE. He already broke off and did that once before. Reading up on it, he still is an investor and I think still owns 21% of the company he is going to try to beat out with his new company. I don't know what makes him think anything will be different starting Global Force with Toby Keith, I mean, I can't imagine them having enough money to lure any top card/star power away from WWE. I'm sure some of the current TNA roster might jump ship and help him out, but it would be the same ole product as far as talent and take a hell of a time to start up from scratch. The great thing about TNA was he had the the takeover of WCW by WWE in 2001 and they had more talent than they knew what to do with and being a vet with connections, he was able to break off and start a new company up. Dixie Carter ruined TNA and I read that him and Keith tried to buy up her fathers shares but his stipulation was that Dixie remained with the company in the role she was in and they declined. Sounds like he is trying to bury the Carters. I dunno, if they couldn't get enough money tossed at them at TNA to compete with WWE, I think its going to be awful hard to get that on another start-up company.
