  1. I'm an unemployed (due to injury, not work-related) 48-year-old disabled veteran. I wonder what my status is. I could possibly (but don't have a reason to check, so haven't, and won't) have my healthcare at least partially subsidized. But even if I checked on it & could, should I? I'm responsible for myself, but also responsible to my fellow citizens & taxpayers.
  2. I used the word "possibly" for a reason. I choose not to hypothesize as others do.
  3. Good post. The GOP will have a heck of a fight trying to tell folks "We're taking away your health care that has possibly saved your life".
  4. And the other woman with the reddish hair that doesn't like politics or political ads? A certain Rhodes scholar showed the 5 different commercials for 5 different candidates she's done. What a ditz.
  5. At least we've got more to say than Mr. Cruz: "it's hurting Americans". He has yet to say or show how. Just keeps up the redundancy, with the same exact words on a daily basis. You'd think he'd have a better schtick by now, that he COULD at least give an example or two...but it's just "hurting Americans".
  6. Kitty on camera surviving a jump from a burning building... http://gma.yahoo.com/blogs/abc-blogs/cat-survives-three-story-leap-burning-building-182321991--abc-news-lifestyle.html?vp=1
  7. I'm looking forward to seeing the numbers at the end of the year, when the 26-year-olds who are on their parents' policies get their own policies,(and for further years, that number will grow), but there is one thing that does concern me. (Well, it's going back to Larry's point about my governor, Larry's governor, and other mean governors whose sworn sacred constitutional duty is/was/will be to screw their own citizens.(please forgive the ad-lib, we've had a sort of "Moral Monday" movement here with protests in front of the idiot's mansion, and signed petitions delivered to his office.) There are 17-year-olds whose parents will not be able to afford to keep their children on their policies. Heck, there are parents who could never afford to have their children insured in the first place, and probably still can't, and because of mean governors like mine and Larry's. It just makes me angry. (I hope I didn't offend, Larry...)
  8. This baby rocks. So does Dad with the answers. http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/trending-now/adorable-baby-argues-with-father-despite-not-using-any-words-160929314.html?vp=1
  9. I got dropped off at school in the 70s in Sterling Park by a woman in a bathrobe & a pink feather hat (because the wig was too much to bear in the morning, lol...), so a dress code for parents seems really "out there" to me. https://shine.yahoo.com/parenting/school-board-member-dress-code-parents-rosalind-osgood-boyd-anderson-high-155852940.html
  10. For at least the 3rd time, my husband gets his from his company, I am on his plan &we only have to pay my premium, deducted from his pay. It's Humana. We each have a $1500 deductible, or $3000 together. That's the deal. Sheesh.
  11. I'd like to point out that meeting a deductible is not required for health care. I never even come remotely close to my $1500 deductible, and I still receive health care.
  12. There goes my coffee again ...I'm just gonna bring a roll of paper towels up here

  15. I'm looking online, in stores, absolutely everywhere for roller shades for windows...you know, the old pull-down kind with little spindle ends. (My cats are destroying the vinyl blinds.) Should I be measuring the entire window opening? I would prefer to have them go as close to the edges as possible, and I know the bracket thingys aren't as wide as the ones for mini-blinds, which always leave space on the sides. Thanks in advance.
  16. I had my yearly physical yesterday. Chest x-rays and an EKG included, $25 co-pay. And my BP med dropped a few months ago from $9.14/month to $6.50.

  18. Read this in the voice of Jon Stewart's mother: Chewie's got the last two, always about something in his mouth...we need to do something for him...I don't know what, but something?????
  19. I was just watching some highlights from 2012. Getting stoked again, I got a feeling it's gonna be a good season! Hail!

  22. The post you quoted for this was nothing but facts about our experiences now that the ACA is in place, no emotion at all, unless you count my glee at the lack of a drastically oversized bill. I wasn't talking about what's going to happen 3-5 years from now. What I do know is that our plan, the funds required for it, and the cards we carry did not change this year. (I even called to check & see if we were being issued new cards for the new year, and was told, by Humana, that the old cards were still valid, nothing was changed.) I don't hate you, chip! As a matter of fact, I've undergone quite the attitude adjustment recently, I haven't touched a drop of alcohol since the week before the Super Bowl. I've made a serious effort at not being emotional or confrontational, and my more recent posts in this thread have been nothing but anecdotal, which as Larry says, doesn't count for much...so I'll take myself out of the thread.
  23. We all know that's what you've been trying to explain for 59 pages, chip. You just haven't done a very good job of it. Our premiums did not increase. Neither did our deductible. Like I have explained, for some folks it's all good. Quality of care & services covered have increased. For us. I try to keep my posts completely anecdotal for that reason...just to let people know some of what's really going on.
  24. It's the law that changed, I think, not our plan. His company of 30 years pays his premium, and we pay for mine. He did just get home from an endoscopy that he paid $875 for, however.
