So you're making the distinction between donating and contributing vs paying for it? It seems to me that they are still trying to influence an election as a foreign national and if you paid for it, then you are complicit. But, I am in no way an attorney or anything, so take all of that with a grain of salt.

Actually it does matter- A foreign national shall not, directly or indirectly, make a contribution or a donation of money or other thing of value, or expressly or impliedly promise to make a contribution or a donation, in connection with any Federal, State, or local election. 11 CFR 110.20 - Prohibition on contributions, donations, expenditures, independent expenditures, and disbursements by foreign nationals (52 U.S.C. 30121, 36 U.S.C. 510)

Well since you asked: (and this isn't a smart-aleck answer), I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, (note the lowercase "c") the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. I wiil tell you that nowhere in there does it mention us judging someone based on what they look like, who they love, etc. and if someone tells you otherwise, they're selling what I ain't buying.

I also agree that increasing the standard deduction is a good thing, especially for me since I don't have a mortgage (one of the biggest itemized deductions), but I believe that increasing it will lead to a decrease in charitable giving. While we would like to think that people are generally altruistic, a lot of times it's because they can take a deduction. If the standard is increased, people wouldn't need to donate to write it off and contributions could go down.

Because his job is to distract the cop from all of the other drunks getting into their cars and driving home. BTW-I seem to recall hearing this a few years ago.
