  1. If they go defensive head coach, I actually woulda liked Anthony Lynn as an OC candidate. But Kyle gave him that assistant HC title in SF, so they'd have to give him permission to leave for an OC gig. Which I don't foresee, I'm just sayin'. But maybe Peters can facilitate something. But a young, introverted type like Macdonald might need a vet coordinator, and Lynn has both coordinator and HC experience. But in 6 years at the HC/OC level, he's had a top half of the league offense 5 times. I like that consistency. The only knock is there's no real history of developing a rookie QB. He had a well seasoned vet with the Chargers. He did make a 26 year old Tyrod Taylor with little starting experience a viable starting QB for a few years though.
  2. When I look at Dan Quinn's career, I get less and less impressed. His first 2 years as a DC, he had the #1 defense. Ok, cool. But then you see that Gus Bradley was really the architect. They were a top 5-10 defense the 2 years before Quinn before Bradley left to coach the Jags. Then in 6 years in ATL, they were 20th or worse 4 times on defense. The offense carried those teams. The Dallas defense has definitely improved under him, but that doesnt give me the warm and fuzzies about being a HC again.
  3. He didnt help them as much as the reverse. They were not put in the best positions by their coach. Quinn called a terrible game on defense.
  4. Bieniemy probably comes back as OC because they spent so much time screwing around with Johnson. How many OCs have been hired since the season ended?
  5. I hope Johnson knows what he's doing. That's a bold move. He's now turned down HC opportunities 2 years in a row. He's got youth going for him, but we've seen hot HC candidates become not hot quickly.
  6. He plays like a guy that's scared. Like he goes at half speed to not get hurt.
  7. Did he though? I don't recall Rivera really being in demand when we hired him. He certainly wasn't a "hot" candidate around the league. Too late though, its already making the rounds on social. It's now an indisputable fact to 99% of the people that read it. lol
  8. Carolina is smoking ALL the crack. I dont think there's a number high enough. They're gonna wind up with somebody's assistant TEs coach. Somebody will take the job, won't be anybody with real options. Hell, might be Bieniemy's only shot to be a HC.
  9. "Well" is all relative, I think. Two years isn't really much time, but the personnel moves were iffy. The best draft pick was Scherff, but after that the best were Fuller, Ioaniddis, Smith, and Crowder. Austin Reiter as a 7th rd pick turned into a decent player, albeit on another team. None of the trades were worthwhile. They essentially traded the pick that turned into Tyler Lockett for picks that we turned into Arie Kuoandjio, Matt Jones, and Kyshoen Jarrett. The only free agent that really seemed to work out was Vernon Davis.
  10. We single handedly killed this man's career. lol But his HC prospects were slim anyway. Half the league already interviewed him and wasn't interested. Maybe one of these new HC gigs will get him another OC job. But seems like his best chance to be a HC woulda been back in KC. I mean, how much longer is Andy Reid gonna keep coaching?
  11. I pray the Lions don't get shutout with 5 turnovers against the Rams. The meltdown that would ensue from people knee jerk jumping ship on hiring Ben Johnson would be ridiculous. lol
  12. How soon before they dump Mayhew is my question. Peters might throw him a bone and give him a new role. Assuming he even likes him or his work like that.
  13. We dont know all the info. The President of Football Ops thing making it sound like 2 openings coulda just been bad reporting and Peters effectively has that role, just with the GM title.
  14. But it's a chicken or egg scenario. Success breeds stability, not the ither way around. These organizations aren't choosing to be stable in spite of failure through tough times. They have no reason to not be stable. They're smart enough to know if it ain't broke, don't fix it. If all I do is win, why would I change.
  15. I remember when Brees passed 5000 the first time thinking that was cool. Then he did it 4 more times. lol
