  1. Really good breakdown by Logan in the link below. Talks about the difference between Cosmi’s 2019 and 2020 tape, with the former being first round material and the latter being of lesser quality but due to a coaching/scheme change in a Covid shortened season. He uses the LSU game which I feel like I’ve watched a hundred times in the past 2-1/2 years to highlight his footwork, physicality, and elite athleticism.
  2. It was interesting to hear on John Keims podcast that Leno is seen as being the guy at the Left Tackle spot and Cosmi is seen as a 1st rounder they got in the 2nd who will be playing right away. That’s what’s pushing Moses out the door according to him. What they saw in camp reaffirmed what they saw on tape and Matsko has gotta be confident in what he can teach by week 1. Should be an interesting ride.
  3. After listening to Shaka Toney’s coach on Kevin’s podcast I’m feeling pretty optimistic about him working out as a linebacker. He actually committed originally as a linebacker in college and then switched to DE. He’s got a very high football IQ and according to his coach could have played Mike or WILL for them I think he could be this years Kam Curl as far as a 7th rounder showing out, that he should have been drafted higher. He’s a high character, high work ethic, high iq player, with plus pass rushing ability, bend, and explosion. He knows what nearly everyone on his defense is doing, he understands offensive systems and how to attack them within his fit, and he was the dude everyone on the team turned too when they needed help, from life to football.
  4. It’d be nice if we could get some trade capital for Moses. We have a **** load of depth anyways and he’d conceivably be more attractive trade bait than any of those guys. I’m guessing we could get a 4th at best but most likely end up with a 6th or 7th since he might get cut anyways.
  5. The reporters were stationed by the offense’s practice field and too far away from where the defense was, so they couldn’t see much on them.
  6. So apparently Gatez sent a Venmo payment to this Greenberg fella and in the memo put “hit up (17 year olds name)”. The feds literally have the receipts.
  7. IMO game tape is the base you use to evaluate physical traits and ground your projections of future development based on how those traits can be upgraded with scheme fit and detailed coaching. It’s not just about grading guys as is. You have to marry up their current level with what their ceiling could be if they played faster and continued whatever growth curve they were showing from game to game. That’s why I like this class the more I look at it from scheme fit and future projection versus just looking at what guys have done so far in college. Most of our guys are on the upswing of their growth curve and are still growing into their bodies and position. They’ve also each shown a clear role via a top end skill they possess that bears promise for the long term. Very few guys from this draft class can be said to have only depth level ceilings. A lot of the guys are raw no doubt and have hurdles to reaching that top end projection, but that’s where the coaches show their worth and I have faith in quite a few of our position coaches even if I still have questions about Scott Turner.
  8. Man Sammis showed up to practice 4 hours early and got in a practice before practice. The day before? He spent 10 hours studying with his girlfriend and drawing out plays on various white boards around the house. I am rooting for this kid to make the team so damn hard. I don’t think he’ll last on the practice squad.
  9. It’s kind of interesting that Bobby is seen as a better Slot Corner than FS by some people. I wonder if he throws his hat into the ring to compete there as well. It’d be awesome if BSJ grabbed that outside corner spot and we could have Fuller and Bobby McCain compete for slot corner and FS. I love the versatility and depth on our team! That versatility is a serious force multiplier when your whole damn team carries that quality.
  10. Obviously teams will be somewhat different than what they were last year, but I’ll take it.
