  1. It is fine to go for Carr and not Darnold. If we do not get Carr then we should find a quarterback in the draft and concentrate now on signing a number one receiver from the available free agents. We also have other holes to fill on this team like linebacker and safety.
  2. I listen to a lot of Eagles sports radio. Some people think he never recovered from his concussion. He also got beat up with a back injury the year before. This year they had a terrible offensive line with tons of injuries. But he held on to the ball too long and the Head Coach said it was not always the offensive line issues.
  3. I heard Darryl Moose Johnston on the radio and he said he really likes Taylor Heinke. He said quarterbacks that come from small schools learn quickly how to rollout and avoid the rush. He liked what Taylor did in his last game with the Redskins.
  4. Listening to Kevin Sheehan on 980 radio this morning. He is talking about the Chargers rookie quarterback Herbert. He lost all credibility with me regarding his evaluation of quarterbacks because for one year he had Haskins as the best thing since slice bread. When Haskins started having bad games it was the organization's fault for not helping him more. When things got really bad towards the end then he finally started the new narrative that Haskins might not be around in the future.
  5. I do not think we would get Watson even if we tried hard to get him. We have to be realistic concerning how our franchise is viewed by NFL players and their agents. Right now Washington is still not a preferred destination for top free agents. If we get to the playoffs next year then maybe the narrative changes among agents advising their star players. Do we ever hear guys around the NFL saying they want to come to Washington? Slowly Rivera is helping us to get our reputation back but what the Danny and Allen did to this franchise was make us a least preferred destination. Just trying to set more realistic expectations about getting a top free agent quarterback. Hope the new General Manager regime will prove me wrong but we will know in a few months what is happening at quarterback for us. Smith's contract still bugs me and I do not think you can keep him as the backup quarterback and paying him what we owe him. Very similar situation to the Eagles paying Wentz a small fortune to be the backup to Jalen Hurts.
  6. There is a report out tonight that Washington's offer for Stafford was better than Rams offer. Some on this message board were convinced Skins were going to beat out several other teams to get Stafford. If the ESPN reporter is right so why did we not get him? Hmm...could it be that Washington is still not a preferred destination by some players. Or could it be that our new General Manager team is not so sharp as some on this message board think they are??
  7. He may like the fact that he was drafted by the Lions but he may not like the free agents that Mayhew missed on that could have helped the team be a contender. Mayhew has missed on a lot of free agents who other teams picked up and did well with over the years.
  8. I want us to get Stafford but I do not believe we will get him. A report today says the Rams and Lions are talking about trading quarterbacks. I am afraid that Mayhew knowing Stafford may not help us land him. If Stafford did not like Mayhew's drafts with the Lions then I am sure he will tell his agent that he prefers to avoid Washington. While the Lions control where he will go, they will probably listen to which teams Stafford would like to avoid. At least ten teams in the off season will be searching for a different quarterback than what they had during 2020 season.
  9. Thinking about getting Mathew Stafford I wonder what he thinks of having his former General Manager with the Redskins? If he liked how Martin Mayhew drafted players for the Lions then he might consider coming to Washington. But if he disliked Mayhews draft picks then he and his agent will be certain to do whatever they can to avoid joining the Redskins.
  10. I agree with John Clayton that the Skins can get Stafford if they want to trade for him. I think Indy wants Wentz if the Eagles let him go or if Wentz forces his way out of Philly. Wentz is tight with the Indy Head Coach. Wentz agent probably thinks he can also get Wentz more money with Indy. Eagles have cap issues and an old team with injuries.
  11. Just saw from the Athletic's Ben Standing that Alex Smith and Matthew Stafford are both represented by agent Tom Condon. Smith is still on Skins books for two more years so based on 2021 terms per Spotrac: $18.7 million salary, $24.4 million cap hit and $10.8 million dead cap.
  12. Suppose this scenario played out. Ron goes to Snyder to go over the guys Ron wants to interview and Snyder says to Ron- " I do not care who you pick as long as you do not pick Kyle for General Manager because one year when we were drafting Haskins he yelled at me in front of everyone in the draft room for insisting on picking Haskins in the first round." So Ron walks away smiling knowing he can pick his buddy Hurney and knowing that Gibbs will endorse Mayhew if Snyder calls Gibbs about Mayhew. So suddenly there is no high level decision maker expressing the desire to interview Kyle at all.
  13. Go back and look at what he did for his draft picks for his entire tenure for the Lions and look at Lions won lost record why he was there.
  14. Just heard on the radio that Martin Mayhew missed on picking Rams star Aaron Darnold in the draft. Ugh.... But the Lions reporter said that he was ok as a General Manager.
  15. What about Kyle Smith??? If I was Kyle I would exit stage left. Hope Ron has a plan that includes him without losing him for good.
  16. I am sure Hurney is the safe pick for Riverboat Ron but he was not the best pick. So now they are both tied together and if Hurney screws up then Rivera has no one to blame but himself. Hope they can be successful. I would have picked someone who was a rising star like Kyle Smith who being younger would stay with the franchise for a long time as long as the Danny did not interfere. Right down the road in Philadelphia they have another owner who thinks he is the General Manager and I am confident they will pick the wrong Head Coach to replace Petersen. They plan to interview 15 coaching candidates.
  17. Baltimore cut RGIII today per report in Washington Post.
  18. I like the new offensive line coach we have this season. But I just saw that Callahan is with the Browns and the Browns are in the playoffs. Callahan has turned around a lot of offensive lines in his career. He was never Head Coaching material just like Norv Turner and Jay Gruden.
  19. I want Kyle Smith to stay. If they give him autonomy and money he could stay but he could also decide to leave at some point. Ron has brought in a lot of Carolina people and if they bring in a former Carolina GM then if I were Kyle I would exit stage left and thank Ron the for good memories of this season. I really hope there is a way to keep him but I think it could be a 50-50 chance whether he stays or goes. I am not just talking about staying one more year. My goal would be to keep him for the long term at least for the next 4-5 years. Every talent evaluator cannot hit on every pick. In 2017, Howie Roseman hit several home run draft picks that eventually led to a Super Bowl run. But once his sidekick Joe Douglas left the front office his picks in subsequent years were dismal and hence the Eagles lousy record this year. Eagles news media is finally starting to realize what happened and are finally reporting on it.
  20. If we let Kyle go and he ends up with the 49ers I will be super upset. Maybe they can just pay him more money to stay. But ultimately I am sure his goal is to be a General Manager just like his dad. Very frustrating why we are taking him for granted.
