  1. Standing by my earlier guess that the actual sale price ends up being *well* under $6b. Maybe under $5b. While being in the DC market and having the opportunity to rebuild the franchise to your liking does have some inherent advantages, we also have this reality: Broncos sold for $4.65b less than two years ago have been top 5 in the league in attendance. They have an established brand and fan base. Their stadium, while not much newer than ours, is much more serviceable (note that they are also starting to think about a new one as well). It’s also located very close to downtown Denver. As much as Snyder wants to wish his franchise is worth $7b (or now, $6b), I genuinely do not see it. The stadium is a dump. Any move to a new stadium in DC would have to overcome ridiculous political hurdles that don’t exist for other cities. The fan base has been rapidly eroding for decades and is legitimately now bottom 10 in the league. We have a name nobody likes and a brand that will forever be tied to Dan ****ing Snyder unless they go through the process of re-branding AGAIN. We have allegations of financial malfeasance on the part of the owner and pending lawsuits hanging over the head of the franchise. And the minority owners were willing to part with their shares of the team, TWO YEARS AGO, at a roughly $2b valuation. I’m sorry but did they just willingly cost themselves hundreds of millions of dollars? No. They saw the books and know the value. Everything out there about Snyder thinking it’s worth $6b+ is just smoke he himself has put out there. I don’t think Harris has offered that much. I don’t think anybody would offer that much. And now Snyder is desperate for someone to bail him out and hunting that he wants Bezos to jump into the mix. It’s also info Snyder’s side is leaking to try to pump up the price tag.
  2. Recently transitioned to he so I guess was just trying to fit in with typical American male culture.
  3. I think so too. If he’s not traded this off-season he’ll take the year off and try again next year. Watson hadn’t played in like what, three years, and he still got $230m.
  4. As an added benefit, when the team is embarrassing we could just scuttle it and be done with the season.
  5. Uconn has been running their opponents out of the building. They’ve got to be considered the favorites to win it all, by a decent margin imo.
  6. I’d be extremely tickled if both 1s lose tonight. I’ll settle for one or the other.
  7. I like to imagine Bezos buying the team and immediately turning the Ashburn facility into a large data center.
  8. Consider me extremely skeptical that Robles actually takes a step forward. I’ve seen at least 3 different iterations of Robles reinventing himself or tweaking his swing or adjusting his approach during spring training. He just turns into himself during the season. At this point he is who he is until he proves otherwise.
  9. They'll ultimately spin it has a large scale redevelopment project, get the city to pay for a big chunk of it, and finance a ton of the rest. They might only need like $500m cash for a $3b+ project.
  10. General impression of the rumor mill from yesterday: Lots of reports from credible people on the beat that it isn’t done yet (but “goal to go”.) I think this is probably the most accurate reflection of where things sit. Lots of other folks saying there’s a deal. Both could be essentially correct. There could be a verbal agreement, or the buyer meeting Dan’s price point, which makes it effectively over from a bidding standpoint. They still obviously need to finish the contract.
  11. May have had a disproportionate impact on UVA given how soon after their title it was.
  12. Generally agree with this take. If UVA moved on from Bennett they would almost certainly be worse for it. They don’t have a tremendous level of talent* and his style does help them be a very good regular season team. Oddly enough they generally do pretty well in the ACCT too. *I will say though that Bennett has utterly failed to capitalize on his title. UVA has pretty high academic standards and he doesn’t like recruiting guys that are going to be one and done anyway, but man, they should be better by now. The only time his teams have ever done a thing in the tournament, he had like four future NBA players starting for him. That’s what it takes for his style to be successful. A bunch of a long athletes as 2-3-4 that can shoot it well. A great defensive presence at 5. And a 1 that is a top tier floor general AND can shoot. Their offense has to be hyper-efficient to effective at all. And for whatever reason their recruiting hasn’t been great over the last handful of years. They haven’t been able to land that caliber of player.
  13. Well that’s one way to get people to read your obscure research paper.
  14. Not really. They’re set with Hurts and I’m sure Minshew is looking for a chance to play. Not sure how much I’d factor in what he did last year (which admittedly I did not watch any of). That entire offense was designed around Hurts. Tough to just plug Minshew in and expect them to not miss a beat.
  15. Minshew is a rich man’s Heinicke and imo would be favored in a legit QB competition. I’m for it.
  16. Well this is relatively disastrous at this stage of his development.
  17. Good for Taylor. I’m guessing that $20m is heavy on playing time incentives but is still an incredible contract for a guy that was out of the league and living with his sister two years ago. What an incredible story.
  18. Duke is a very different team than they were two months ago. ACC is weak this year, yes, but they can make some noise.
  19. That could end up being a very good deal for Ruiz. I got the sense he was on the verge of breaking out and being very expensive.
  20. NFL is a small enough club of owners that they absolutely engage in labor market manipulation ie collusion. You definitely saw it with the cap penalties on Washington and Dallas awhile back. I wonder how pissed they are at the Browns for the Watson fully guaranteed contract resetting the QB market in a huge way. I can see the owners putting their foot down and saying never again when it comes to Jackson’s demands.
  21. So do we feel good about them effectively wrapping up the first game in the single remaining 43min episode?
  22. Fertitta’s company owns Morton’s, so that makes a lot of sense. It’s where deals happen with Dan Snyder. Maybe Eddie Royal is part of the ownership group.
