  1. This looks like it might be good. I admit I don't read nearly enough. Most of my reading is always technical stuff, and it kills my desire to read other things, besides quick articles and snippets of news. There's a podcast with the authors at the bottom of the page that seems worth listening to also.
  2. I gotta say, I'm kind of shocked people weren't chomping at the bit to watch a 40 minute Carter Page lecture in Moscow from last July after the Super Bowl. I think the views went up by a few hundred though.
  3. Here's a youtube vid of him speaking in Russia in July, 2016. It's pretty dull, but towards the two minute mark, he explains how he's there as a private citizen, and not to take his comments as a reflection of other people or organizations that he may be working with at the present time. He also talks about having been there in a similar capacity over the past decade. He goes on, touting investor-class actions of Russian and Chinese entities, what we pay attention to in our news in the west, western philosophy regarding "regime change" in former Soviet territories, and on and on. Just curious what people smarter than me think of it, if they can bear to watch. Is this just a niche career that this guy fell into and he's really a nobody, or maybe he's that and he happens to be a "useful idiot", or is he like an actual spy? This guy is a walking, talking example of someone who most definitely should have been under surveillance. I just saw a tweet of it with a little snippet from Scott Dworkin, and started watching. I'm just linking it. It's around 40 minutes long. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1CYF29saA9w
  4. ^ That song was my first guitar lesson a million years ago. I actually learned to sing it a little, but had a hard time not laughing (I was like 13 or so) Thought it was hilarious.
  5. IMO, this is all about the incidental evidence collection. If they discredit Rosentein, the investigation, etc. that's their shot to avoid consequences for any criminal activities that were discovered while completely legitimate surveillance was being conducted on other targets. ETA: ...and their actions after knowing they got caught up in it I know this is not exactly ground-breaking theory here. Sometimes I just need to boil it down, to stop from keeping getting caught up in the dog and pony show stuff
  6. As I understand it, this memo will try to point out concerns that Rod Rosenstein did not tell a judge that Democrats helped to fund the research that the Steele dossier grew from, as did Republicans, when he applied for an EXTENSION of an existing FISA warrant on Page. That means valuable information was being acquired from the original FISA warrant, from before the dossier was even around. I wonder if he told the judge Republicans helped fund that research too. Why does it matter? So stupid.
  7. Which will undoubtedly lead to more gaslight fuel for these criminals to justify further attacking the FBI. And on it will go

  9. I don't think he can shut it down, but he certainly likes to try and disparage and discredit it. Maybe he can reshape it if he can fire and demoralize enough people. It's certainly not good for it's effectiveness. I really don't know how far he could go though, and I would like to, because that's at least as far as he will try to go. I've seen a lot of chatter on twitter about the FBI fighting back, and a possible incoming news bomb. Just rumors and conjecture though.
  10. ^ So yeah, there were changes to the memo that our own DOJ and FBI are asking you not to hastily release in the first place. Thanks for clearing that up Jack Langer. I'm praying these people pay with everything they have. I know the wheels of justice grind slowly, but I'm really starting to worry about the permanent damage being done (especially if if they just grind to a halt), and what it looks like on the other side of that. Of course Mueller isn't an idiot, but I'm not ruling out anything as to how far they will go, how crazy this Congress and this presidency is, and what they might be willing to do to fundamentally change anything and everything possible. If they are able to get away with what what it appears they are trying to get away with against our own FBI and DOJ, what will they try next?
  11. Besides fat payoffs and paydays, everyone has had to have been guaranteed pardons for anything relating to their efforts to aide in this level of corruption. They don't even hesitate to **** on our laws and the actual will of the majority of people in this country. It is pure insanity.
  12. Relatively, of course (for me anyway). A couple of years ago I would never have imagined I would one day soon hit the away button on my phone at work, say to myself "Oh yeah, I have got to read this right now!", and I would be talking about a full transcript of a House committee meeting. Yet, there I was.
  13. Transcript here: http://docs.house.gov/meetings/IG/IG00/20180129/106822/HMTG-115-IG00-Transcript-20180129.pdf Pretty fascinating, especially Eric Swalwell. I've only made it to pg. 33, but his request to at least have an independent 3rd party, like ODNI, review the memos for possible security concerns seems like a completely reasonable and responsible request. Also this on the majority members not having even seen the underlying intelligence: "It is essentially releasing to the public a book review on a book which it has not read." I like Swalwell.

  15. Who's that-Horowitz? I'll pay attention to it. I'll pay attention to the minority memo too. Do you think this memo release is on the up and up really? Forgoing sanctions by the WH, voted on by Congress against Russia... you think that's OK? I'm more curious now if any Republicans stand up to that. Doubt it though.
  16. I wrote it, and did the same thing a couple of times. I kept thinking that doesn't look right, but just left it that way. Should have tried something different there. Still, thumbs up for It (the movie)
  17. Beyond belief. Deputy Director of FBI forced out for political reasons, release this obfuscating partisan memo for devious purposes, decide to ignore the vote of Congress to enforce sanctions against a hostile foreign power that attacked our country and democratic processes, and launch sham investigations into the DOJ and FBI. Nice work Republicans. Banner day for treachery in the USA.

  19. Another bad ending. At what point were they going to try and trade those foul shots on one end for 3's on the other? Never, I guess.
  20. Ditto on Dunkirk. I might go see it again, if it gets a second run at a theater around here that shows older movies. Blade Runner is also one I wish I saw in theaters, and I know that will be shown there at some point. I'll definitely go see it again, on the big screen. The special effects were amazing. Very good overall. It was also good. Had a bit of a Stand by Me feel to it. The kid actors were good. I didn't like the original, but thought this one was a lot better. The most disappointing movie I've seen in a long time was The Dark Tower. I PPV'd it, and wish I hadn't paid for it at all. Should have waited for it to come on HBO, USA, TNT, or whatever. I always hoped they would turn those books into a serious multi-movie epic like the LOTR movies, etc. Weak effort.
