  1. Most of it is based on general distrust and suspicion due to past action. I can definitely say that's where it comes from for me. Can't speak for anyone else. Personally, I think over the past few years at least that the majority of it has been media fluff, exaggeration, and scapegoating. I think it has probably just taken a long while to get his hand out of the cookie jar. But I still can't bring myself to trust the guy. Maybe down the road. But as of right now, I still can't help but consider him a slimeball. More than anything just because of the stories I've heard from the folks that have met him.
  2. Some of the burger recipes I was looking at recommended browning the bacon first and then mixing in the crumbles with some onion, garlic, and a little olive oil. A friend actually just recommended that I try making a stroganoff. Which sounds really tasty and honestly looks pretty simple.
  3. I'm thinking to start, burgers are gonna be the way to go. Have a couple questions for y'all with experience with venison... It's just my wife and I. We were given about a pound of ground meat frozen. We thawed it in the fridge overnight. Is it safe to refreeze the leftover after making the burgers? Also, I know the meat is very lean. I don't plan to mix beef in with it. Would mixing in some bacon work to add in some fat to add a little flavor and keep it from coming out dry?
  4. Just got a pound of ground venison I want to cook tonight. Anyone have any good recipes I should try? Any tips on cooking the meat itself? Thanks.
  5. I'm always a little torn on this one. On one hand, I would love to see maybe a hockey based show on at some point when folks are actually listening, or at least maybe an hour or so with someone who has a fair amount of insight, as opposed to nothing more than a short segment here and there outside of the playoffs. But I also know that the ratings just haven't been there so there isnt much incentive for the program directors to do it. I chalk up a fair amount of the lack of interest in the NHL in the US to a couple things. The primary thing being the regional aspect of it. The game while huge in the north all across the country, just doesn't have a big following in the south. Especially in places that shut down over two inches of snow lol. And it's not just the weather. It costs a lot of money, and takes a lot of time to get kids into hockey. Pads, skates, and sticks are not cheap by any means. Ice time comes at a premium in these places because there just aren't many places to play and practice. It's that foundation of kids growing up with the game that creates generations of fans of a sport. Another thing being the awful way that the league has been run over the past 15 years alone. Full league shutdowns and work stoppages, labor disputes, and delayed and even canceled seasons. ESPN won't touch the league anymore. I think NBC has done a good job. But you need more. Until the league proves that it it's stable, it's gonna be tough to make that happen. I have a couple frustrations with sports radio callers... 1. Please don't state your fanhood resume before you start talking about the topic at hand. Unless you have something VERY unique there, nobody cares. Sorry. I find myself yelling at my radio quite often because so many folks call in and before even talking about the subject it's always "Let me just say this. I'm a die hard Skins fan. Been following this team since the 80s! I remember the glory years! I remember when Gibbs got hired. My family are all fans too!" GET TO THE POINT! 2. Please don't call into a show and ask for hosts who have absolutely ZERO background, knowledge, or even interest in a particular sport to talk about that sport or team. I love United. But I have no desire to call the Junkies and hear them stumble around trying to think of something to say about a team that they spend zero time covering, watching, or following. I've never understood why folks do this. About a month ago I was listening to Chad Dukes on my way into the city and he was doing an open line kinda thing. He was getting a little frustrated because he wasn't getting many calls at all. Then some guy calls in and says "Hey Chad! Love your show man! Been listening for a long time. I wanted to call in and talk about Navy football." Chad, who knows about as much about Navy football that I know about Russian bear gymnastics, proceeds to say "...okay, I'm not too up on it. What about it?" and then the caller proceeds to go on and on asking his opinion on things he has absolutely no opinion on. It was painful to listen to. I know it would be nice to get a more diverse array of topics on the sports stations. But please don't force it. It does nothing but make for uncomfortable radio.
  6. The way I understand it is that the interest continues to accrue. That's the only reason that I suggest that. I may be wrong. But I know that with virtually all SL interactions that involve paying less or getting a break(Forbearance etc.) your interest will continue to accrue.
  7. Obviously look into consolidation if it's going to be a viable and affordable option. But you are at an advantage in regards to what the Fed in charging monthly in relation to his income. It's all based on your previous years AGI. So, if the time to reapply is here and he's still using last year's AGI where he wasn't making enough to be charged, you can still go with that and basically owe nothing without penalty, but pay down the interest when the cash is available. My question to you folks who use SoFi. Where do they stand on very high private loan balances? I've looked into refinancing. My problem is that with a +$100,000 balance and around 3-5% interest rates on private loans from Sallie Mae, it just doesn't seem like it would do much to help. Problem is, yeah, those rates sound low. But my monthly payments are just over $700/mo. That's a tough bill to shell out every month. My credit is very good. I'd love to refinance if it'll bring these monthly payments down. But if it's just going to end up being the same monthly payment, there isn't much of a point yet.
  8. This is one of the biggest issues that I have with Sallie Mae and Navient. Their customer service is AWFUL. It's an absolute nightmare trying to get something done through them. You never talk to the same person. Ever. Only time I did was literally getting the person's name and calling over three times until someone directed me to her line. I've heard numerous stories just like mine with getting in touch and like yours with poor file management and the like. But, miss a payment and see what happens lol. Be a week late on a payment and see if they're at all hard to get in touch with. About five days past the due date and it's a lock that you'll have them calling you and your co-signer(if applicable) over and over and over again from morning to night.
  9. Six figure SL debt haver here. I feel the pain man. It's awful. Right now I'm literally paying more to Navient monthly than I pay in rent. My advice is to look into whatever options may be available to you on any Federal/Dept of Ed loans first. They have Income based options that can sometimes bring your monthlys down to nothing if you're making little enough. In regards to any private loans, definitely look into consolidation, but sign up yourself. Don't buy into any of the BS stuff that gets pedaled through Facebook and Email like "Student Loan Forgiveness Support" or anything like that. Those places just charge you to do what you can do on your own. They prey on the fact that most folks in the situation are younger and won't use the tools right in front of their face provided directly by the servicer of the loan. Personally, since the overwhelming majority of my loans are private since when I was a kid and signed up my parents were making too much to qualify for Gov Assistance, but not nearly enough to pay for me to go to school. I was ripe picking for Sallie Mae, and am paying for it big time now. I know it was the only way I'd get to college (I went to a specialty school), but I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't strongly reconsider if I knew what I know now. So, since I have a six figure private debt, with halfway decent interest rates, consolidation does nothing. It SUCKS lol. I've heard decent things about SoFi for consolidation. You may also want to talk to someone at your bank. A lot of banks have some pretty good consolidation plans for student loans.
  10. I feel like with the proper mentality this team is actually going to be fun to watch this year. Getting to watch some of these young players develop and grow and the way GMSM plugs in the new pieces will be fun. If you go into this year hoping for a SB win, you're going to be disappointed. But if you go into it hoping to see what the future has in store as the team gets built, understanding that there will be some tough losses and even straight up beatdowns on the way, it'll actually be an enjoyable season.
  11. I'm in with the couple of market n00bs on this post that is interested in seeing what stock trading is all about. I've read through this whole post and at times have felt as if it were written in a different language. THAT is the level of novice that I'm at here lol. Spring- I checked the Play Store and didn't see Robinhood come up in any search. Is it IPhone only? Taze- Have you done anymore? Any luck in getting any better after attempting to invest that $200? To anyone willing to answer- In regards to taxes. What is the taxable threshold on returns? Or is every return taxed regardless of how small the amount is?

  13. I finally went out and bought a wok. Found a real cheap one, but it does the trick. Sure it won't last long. But holy crap. I'll never not have one again. Made a stir fry the other night and it was fantastic. Can't wait to experiment with fried rice and some other recipes.
  14. Sure, but pork can be a slippery slope when it comes to it drying out too. A little too long in the oven or the grill and it's ruined. I really only do this when I want pulled pork but I don't have the time to constantly monitor it. It's a great one if you have things to do and can't really keep an eye on something. I definitely agree. I was just going for the quick and easy approach. I love doing the same thing. Works well with ground beef as well.
  15. This sounds awesome. Can't wait to try it. Crock pot shredded chicken is seriously underrated. Makes a fantastic substitute for pulled BBQ if you're not eating pork for some reason. I'll give this a go... I'm typically a season and add on the go so my recipes tend to never be exact so I'm sorry about that. But here we go... Get yourself some pork loin. Since I'm usually only cooking for two I just grab an unseasoned tenderloin. The Smithfield flavored ones are good as well. But you definitely save money just getting a store brand one and seasoning it yourself. Put a few small slits into the pork to let the flavors move through. It's going to break into pulled shredded pork anyway. Make a rub. I usually just grab a bowl and mix salt, black pepper, garlic salt, Old Bay, paprika (Use lightly), Chilli Powder (Again lightly) Rub onto all sides of the pork until it's covered. In your crock pot mix up some Apple cider vinegar, minced garlic (You can also put a few cloves into those slits if you're feeling creative), a little bit of water, ketchup, red hot sauce, and most importantly! Maple syrup. Place pork into crock pot. Baste the parts not submerged with the mixture in the pot. Cook on low for about 6 hours. High for about 4. Your time will vary depending on the size of the cut. You'll know it's done when you can take a fork and separate/pull it with ease. Pull it so that it becomes shredded and stir it around with the crock pot mixture to get all that flavor mixed into all of the pork. Serve on whatever type of roll you prefer a bbq sandwich served. Recipe works great with boneless chicken breast as well.
  16. InsideNOVA reported it as a hoax. Can't say I'm totally convinced though lol. Nor could I say as a PWCS Alum that I didn't crack a smile and nod approvingly.
  17. Given the nature of how long ago the alleged incidents took place I'm interested to know. Is that a low number compared to the rest of the country? Middle of the road? Long? Chances are given the number of alleged victims, this could stretch to multiple areas of the country.
  18. I'll wait to pass any judgement on this until more information is brought to the table. But I will say, that if he did do it his or his camp's response initially is very alarming to me. He said that he refused to "dignify decade old, discredited claims". Maybe I'm taking him out of context here but that really sends up a red flag to me. To me that sends the message that it's apparently no longer wrong after a certain amount of time. That once it passes the 10 year old mark it's no longer serious? I'm probably reading into that the wrong way and help me out if I am. But I'm certainly alarmed at that right now.
  19. Anyone watching the USA friendly today vs Colombia?
  20. So something like the practice jerseys? All gold with burgundy numbers and names?
