  1. Nothing to apologize for, and it really isn't about the last few days. I haven't posted here in a while, largely because it felt like all most of us were doing was repeating the same things over and over again. But to sum up what my biggest issue with Daniels has always been, it's not the amount of hits he takes, it's the way he takes them. QBs are going to get hit a lot, running QBs more than others. But being a guy who seems to absorb the full brunt of hits and have a head and limbs that whiplash with them is major injuries waiting to happen. Especially with a skinny frame. That is all very RG3ish.
  2. I don't want to keep rehashing the things that have been said 100s of times in this thread, but "slide more" isn't a solution to the Daniels/RG3 problem, which is not having the instinct to take hits properly. The rest of what you posted really has nothing to do with anything I said.
  3. I'm not making the case that he is RG3 (though as I've said the similarity that concerns me is the way they take hits). But there was a ton of glowing stuff about Griffin before that draft. It's one reason I got on board after not liking him much for most of the process, that he was supposedly this super humble and great person. Griffin had a great deep ball at Baylor, btw. I'd have rated him well better than Daniels at that one skill.
  4. Not speaking for anyone else, and maybe not what he means, but some posts like this put me in the mind to remark that the way some of us view "upside" is radically different from how others do. Like Milton is big, fast and has an absolute cannon for an arm. So if you view "upside" as "how good he can be if he ever learns to play QB" then you can make a case that his is the highest.
  5. And that's why I have no interest in hearing things like "most coaches think.." in this context. Coaches and players for obvious reasons are always concerned about the short-term. The whole Herm "you play to win the game" mindset. Most of the arguments for Daniels center around how much better he will be now, not in the long-term. Which, imo, is not at all where the team's mindset should be.
  6. Not going to get into a whole thing about the win now elements of the offseason. Just no desire for it. But the majority of the cap they have spent is on one-year deals, which are by definition short-term moves. But my main point in saying that would be the void years they are giving out not he few longer-term deals they have signed. The purpose of those contracts is to spend future cap money on the resent. There really is no argument for borrowing from the future to help the present if your main priority is the future over the present. As for Daniels. it's his experience and his style fo play. Yes, a mobile QB is a potential cover-up for a bad OL. But whatever he is, he can show most of it from game 1, while Maye needs much more work to become what he will be. Maybe should even sit for a bit. I think much of what you're saying here is what you (and I) think of him. If the team viewed him that way, there is no way they'd consider taking him period. But my premise is they view the two as somewhat comparable. If you see Daniels as not that much lesser than Maye in potential, and you are prioritizing winning nw, you likely take Daniels.
  7. Yes, I mean owners by "from above" I am not all that interested in what they say in interviews. Again, the moves they are making seem a lot more geared towards trying to win now. So that's what I am referring to.
  8. My guess at this point is that they take Daniels because this offseason seems more geared towards winning early, and Daniels is the short-term answer if your main concern is winning now. If that's right, it would be a kind of thinking that is highly disappointing. If that is Peters and it works out the way I would guess it will, I agree it's a firing offense. But it could be coming from above too.
  9. It also completely depends on how the contract is designed in terms of how the cap hits are spread out. Jonathan Allen signed for almost the same deal as McKinney )4/72 vs 4/68) but got 31.5 in the first year.
