  1. Once EG goes, I'll come back...there isn't any good reason for him to outlast Beal/Wall AND oversee the rebuild.
  2. I lived there and my family knows the Ewing's....they suck, have bad ownership, but Wizards have just about lost me, man LOL
  3. Look, we know the roster is ****ed. We know the players hate each other. However, speaks VOLUMES when Ernie Grunfeld escapes any sort of criticism from guys like j. Michael, Buckner, etc. At some point, the ire HAS to come from someone really plugged into the organization and not from only the die-hards on the message boards, etc. I honestly don't care. I'll say this...if EG oversees the rebuild and Wall/Beal are traded, I'm 1000000% done with the Wizards. DONE. I'll jump ship to the Knicks. I can only take so much as a fan. There is no reason why he should outlast the players when he's the ONLY person responsible for the messes of this franchise over the past 15 years.
  4. 1 open roster spot...SO obvious what's going to happen hahahahahaha Welcome, Melo!
  5. Who knows what the particulars are of Grunfeld's "secret" contract, but Sam Hinkie IS out there.... A lot of money to eat for Brooks, so like yall said, he's probably not going anywhere...but if EG is canned, I can get behind that.
  6. You don't take role players in the top 3. If the ceiling is that limited for the player you're considering drafting, trade out of the spot. As a top-3 player, expectations WERE high for Porter. He was/is considered part of the "big" 3 with Wall/Beal. Every year, we wait and wait for Porter to make the leap. It just never happens. You're probably right...he's going to have a 10+ year career in the league. He's a glue guy. Not his fault being selected at #3 OR with getting the 100+ million dollar contract. However, it's only fair to criticize him for his shortcomings when it's contributing to why this team sucks so much. I'll scale back on calling him a bust, but as @StillUnknown said, he's a disappointment. A MAJOR disappointment.
  7. For a number 3 overall pick, he's trending in the direction of a bust - based on his draft position. You bring up the draft, and yes...porter IS better than most of the guys selected in the first round that year, but it's also considered arguably one of the weakest/worst draft class' in recent memory.
  8. If Porter was selected ANYWHERE out of the top-5, or even the lottery (to some extent,) I think he could get a pass. But for a #3 overall....yikes. If we don't cut Evan Turner any slack for his production at #2, then we have to do the same for Otto. Advanced stats darling, at times, who is invisible. Here's a list of previous #3 overall picks...where does Otto fall on here? 2018 Luka Doncic 2017 Jayson Tatum, Duke – Boston Celtics 2016 Jaylen Brown, California – Boston Celtics 2015 Jahlil Okafor, Duke – Philadelphia 76ers 2014 Joel Embiid, Kansas – Philadelphia 76ers 2013 Otto Porter, Georgetown – Washington Wizards 2012 Bradley Beal, Florida – Washington Wizards 2011 Enes Kanter, Kentucky – Utah Jazz 2010 Derrick Favors, Georgia Tech – New Jersey Nets 2000’s 2009 James Harden, Arizona State – Oklahoma City Thunder 2008 O.J. Mayo, USC – Minnesota Timberwolves 2007 Al Horford, Florida – Atlanta Hawks 2006 Adam Morrison, Gonzaga – Charlotte Bobcats 2005 Deron Williams, Illinois – Utah Jazz 2004 Ben Gordon, Connecticut – Chicago Bulls 2003 Carmelo Anthony, Syracuse – Denver Nuggets 2002 Mike Dunleavy, Duke – Golden State Warriors 2001 Pau Gasol, Spain – Atlanta Hawks 2000 Darius Miles, East St. Louis HS (Mo.) – L.A. Clippers
  9. MUCH better effort defensively. I like what I saw out of the guys looking like they were more engaged.
  10. I think it's more along the lines of ownership not being willing to eat that contract because of how much he makes. We may be stuck with Brooks 'til his deal is up. Still can't believe they gave him 5/35 BEFORE even getting the green light from KD. Talking about putting the cart before the horse...but that's the Wizards in a nut shell SMH. I hate this franchise. I really do.
  11. Did Dwight have a physical before being traded here to DC? Hard to believe that if the injury is this serious, the team would have agreed to the deal. But, EG...SMH.
  12. Just play Keef at the 5 and bring Mahinmi off the bench until Dwight is ready to go. I like that Brooks said that he's gonna run a smaller lineup, but I'll believe it when I see it. Crazy to think that the balance of the season rests on what Dwight Howard will be able to do on the glass. Keef at the 5 ain't the answer, but it's a band-aid for the moment. Took a unicorn game from him to get the W, but like yall said...it was desperately needed.
  13. We got a journeyman in Dwight Howard, who has clashed with coaches and his teammates over the past 5+ seasons...Keef, who is just...well, yea. Austin Rivers, who folks can't stand...and it goes on and on. But Jimmy Butler, who is a all-NBA caliber talent...a top-15 talent in the league, would be too much of a problem???? LOLOLOLOL.
  14. A trio of Wall/Beal/Butler is more than enough to get to the ECF. Won't be enough to beat the Warriors. However, as the team is currently constructed, they've hit their ceiling. Not much will change going forward unless something drastic is done. You tell me what the longterm plan is with Wall/Beal/Porter? With those 3, it's going to be 42-46 wins every year.
  15. Celebrate the fact that EG had the gall to pull off the trade in the first place. I'm in it for the now...how long are we gonna wait for Otto to show a pulse? Wasting YEARS of Wall's prime and Beal is just entering. Time to stop being passive, put all your chips in the middle of the table, and do SOMETHING that will get this team past it's current ceiling.
  16. Can someone tell me how Brooks at 7 mil per year, is better than what we got from Randy Wittman? FWIW, I think Wittman was a far-superior coach who got his players to buy in to what he was selling...
  17. This team, as constructed, is at it's ceiling. They have been for the past 3 seasons. Jimmy Butler is a top 15-20 player IN THE LEAGUE RIGHT NOW. Adding him with Wall and Beal, and you then have 3 of the top-25 players in the NBA on the same roster. Can't say that about any other team outside of Golden State. Who honestly cares if Butler is a selfish jerk? Dude leaves everything on the floor and he would mesh perfectly with Wall and Beal. Both of those guys are wired completely differently than KAT and Wiggins. I'd love to add him to the mix because I truly think this team would have enough talent to bully their way to the ECF and maybe get to the finals. If he's not added, we're looking at another 42-46 win season...again. Caps SC win has really made me chill regarding DC sports. I'm good for now...
  18. Which is great, but it was terrible basketball. Give me what we're seeing now on the court, plus the pettiness through social media, and the occasional dust-up, and I'm good.
  19. Otto is what he is...can't believe people actually favor him on this team over Jimmy Butler. For all of Butler's issues, there's not a chance in hell he's going to become invisible on the floor and we have to spend time analyzing stats like deflections, post-game, to see what he actually contributed on the floor as a max player. Sure, a locker room with Wall, Beal, Keef, Howard, and Butler is as combustible as a lit cigarette near an oil spill, but it would be the most talented team we've EVER had take the floor since the 70s/80s. Grunfeld would be an idiot to not explore bringing in JB, even if it's for one year. There's a great chance this team could be 1-6 by the time the road trip is over. Not sure why people expected more out of this team...Brooks is a WORSE coach than Randy Wittman, and that's saying something. Can't even beat short-handed teams on the tail end of back-to-backs AT HOME. The fact that the Raps rested Kawhi tells you all you need to know about what teams around the league think of the Wizards.
  20. John lookin' more and more like a DC dude by the day. LOL All he needs is some Solbiato sweats and it's official.
