    1) It's not the case.

    2) "Get a vet" is easy to say, hard to execute.

I came in here to say the same thing, I love me some Logan Paulsen he's off on a lot of his analysis in regards to these qbs.  Is it a weaker class than last year, probably but there's solid options in qb with 3 or 4 of them with some having potential to surprise.

I still can't rank the top prospects yet with any confidence. As of now, in terms of the totality of overall positive traits, I am leaning towards Pickett - size, mobility, arm etc.

Picket and Howell are 3a 3b for me, they're the only two I'm not sure how I want to rank right now:

    Top 5 For Me**

    1. Carson Strong

    2. Matt Corral

    3. Kenny Pickett 3. Sam Howell

    5. Malik Willis

**Disclaimer: This is all subject to change for me based on Senior Bowl, Combine, and Pro Days

  3. I've taken to prop betting more so than traditional bets(ML/S/OU).  Just hit on a 2 game soccer parlay Arsenal and Chelsea to both score first, Chelsea scored before half and Arsenal scored on the most insane corner I've ever seen.

Looking at FD and they have two separate money back promos for WSG1 and TNT basketball tonight.  What's everyone doing with that, if anything?

    Thank you, sir!

Exactly right.  There's less incentive these days to go to the stadium in general.  Make your own food or get it delivered at a fraction of the price, have your buddies over, sit in heat/AC and watch the game on a giant screen with crystal clear picture.  Don't have to go anywhere, deal with traffic, deal with parking.

It's all a trade-off.  If this team was as successful as the Patriots have been for the past 20 years, you'd be dying to go to a game.  If they had a stadium experience like Levi's Stadium or Lumen (Seahawks) Field, you'd still probably go just for the experience of going to watch a game at a cool place.

Bad team for decades?  Bad stadium experience?  No reason to go in this day and age.

In regards to not missing a game....I think I watch out of habit these days.  Out of habit and out of fear that I'll miss the one game where they somehow put it together and get a win, even if it's during a ****ty season.  I wouldn't know what to do instead of watching a WFT game if it's on. How pathetic is that?

I get it, the need for the habitual feeling these games can give you.  For me personally I don't know if I'll ever get the love I once had for this team back the way that it was.  Even if they somehow finally got it all together... I'd watch but not allow myself to fall back in.  Not trying to make light of a serious issue but it's almost like this team has caused a PTSD feeling inside me.  I still follow the team and keep up, I try to pay attention here, and enjoy watching the draft.  It's possible if the team is ever sold from under Snyder, but he and the organizational mess that seems to always follow him have destroyed me as a rabid-fan; far removed from just the losing on the field.

@BRAVEONTHEWARPATH93, that was a great opening post.  I didn't want to click on this thread for the past couple of days because you're right...it is sad, it is depressing.

In regards to the popularity of the message board, I think message boards aren't nearly as popular as they were 10-15 years ago.  You've got twitter now, which is obnoxious and annoying.  No long form posts, for starters.  But I digress.

I just turned 40 a few weeks ago, I have some faint memories of what the glory days were like.  I remember the 1991 season a little bit, I remember the buzz, the feeling of what the DMV was like when the team was winning.  Man, it was electric.  It was palpable.  Since Snyder's purchased the team, you get glimpses of it here and there....Gibbs II and the playoff runs.  The year that RG3 gave us and how exciting that was.

This fanbase is dying...maybe dying isn't the right word, maybe it's just apathetic.  I get the feeling that if this franchise ever got it together, the fanbase would be back and as rabid as ever.  I think this area and this fanbase is so ****ing hungry for a winner, they'd be back in the blink of an eye.

I can attest to the stadium experience being completely awful.  Thanks to @TKand @themurfI was afforded the privilege to photograph games for this site for a number of years.  Getting to do it once was a dream come true...but getting to do it countless times?  Amazing.  Also getting to meet guys like @JimmiJo @Destino and @thesubmittedone(and his pressbox cologne) was just as great.

If it weren't for that privilege, you couldn't get me close to that stadium.  There are no redeeming qualities about the game day experience.  IMO, Fed Ex field was built at the wrong time...it was built at the end of the era where concrete circles were still viable.  Fed Ex opened in 1997 and the very next year M&T Bank Stadium opened which is fantastic.  Put your Baltimore hate aside and go, it's beautiful.  Then a few years later you get Heinz Field, Ford Field...the list goes on and on.  I'm convinced that if the stadium was built 5-6 years later, we'd have a really nice place to play.

I used to get really mad about the losing, now I'm just straight up sad.  Sad that this area doesn't get to celebrate a winner.  Sad that there's, like, two generations of fans that have grown up in this area not knowing what it's like when this team is winning.  Sad that there's, like, two generations of fans who grew up in this area rooting for other teams.  Sad about Fed Ex essentially being a home field for opposing teams.  Sad that no matter who gets hired and what players get acquired that they end up losers.  Sad that Snyder has slowly choked the life out of a once vibrant franchise.

And not to be too melodramatic but I'm becoming a dad here in a couple months and I spent part of last Sunday afternoon wondering if I'd ever want to take my son to a game.  I have some good memories of my dad taking me to RFK and what a thrill that was.  It's sad that it just won't be the same.

I want to hit on a couple of points in this message because it rings true for someone at 34 that while they had the 91 SB has experienced only pain and misery with this franchise:

    a. Most importantly, congratulations on baby Spiff!

    b. I have only really seen bad with this franchise, so I'm used to a team that loses.  I can deal with a team losing, no one as a fan of this team can ever be seen as a fair-weather fan.  Its the manor in how they lose and never seemingly having any semblance of a path forward.  Even when coaches, GMs, FO personnel say we are going to rebuild from the ground up...it's always just a jump in race to mediocracy.  I'd deal with loses if I ever felt like it was towards a bigger picture.

    c. Not only have I seen losing as this team's culture and identity it's also filled to the brim with black eyes from a human decency standpoint.  We've seen an owner that has pressed lawsuits against grandmas, sexual exploitation, harassment, public disgracing, and many more punches to the guts of this fanbase.  You know what separates us from the Lions or the Jets.  They lose, but how often are they in the national media for running a **** show to the magnitude of what we've experienced?

    d. FedEx Field is abysmal in terms of location and ascetics, but it's just the tip of the iceberg.  The whole experience is a train wreck, matched only by the play on the field.  The team doesn't seem to care, the stadium is falling apart with pipes bursting, they're selling expired products to fans and that's if they haven't already run out.  Oh but wait...why not charge 600% on those same products.  They provide zero incentive for this fanbase to come to the stadium, especially in a day and age when I can sit in the comfort of my home with a 4K tv and have the best view.

    e. My weeks used to go with how this team was doing, I was vested.  I would not miss a game, I refused to work or do anything when a game was scheduled.  Now, who cares.  Why should I when this team, management, and ownership clearly don't?  I hate that I wont be able to raise my daughter to be as rabid as I once was.  I hate she won't have those same experiences that as your father shared with you, mine did with me.

What was it about Landon Collins on the Giants that made him such an attractive free agent?  It's not like it was an unpopular movie with either the fans or media.  Did the Giants have him do a very narrow scope of things that he was able to shine doing or was it a matter of a fundamental disciplined defense around him making him look better than he ever actually was?

Actually from what I remember, most Giants fans laughed at us for signing him and said "good luck."  I thought it was just NFCE jesting...who knew how serious they all were

Even ignoring the context (see below), sure seems like you’re arguing that an inexperienced qb that initially looks skittish in their first NFL action has no place on an NFL team.  And here we’re talking about a guy that looked skittish, then became more comfortable and actually performed pretty well later that same game… to some extent at least.

Context:  sorry, but I very much disagree that he’s “had plenty of time at this point to know what you have in him”.  He’s had zero OTAs, a bit more than one training camp, and now 1 preseason game.  Never had backup reps, let alone starting reps (and of course 3rd stringers, let alone 4th stringers, are usually mostly observers at practice).  Needless to say, I feel like you’re underselling him a bit - he was not as bad scrambling as you claimed, and he made some clutch plays, which is big for a young guy.

Now, with all of that said, I saw the problems you mentioned and agree with a lot of your analysis.  Will be interesting to see how things go the next two games.  I like him in theory - the young, good-sized, developmental qb with wheels - but I sure haven’t seen enough to think he’s a guy we should for sure continue to develop.  On the other hand, it’s way too early to say it’s not worth developing him either (IMO) - for us fans anyway… the coaches have seen him in the qb room, weight room, have seen him take a few snaps in practice, and maybe run the scout team at times last year (though that’s usually the 2nd stringer’s job), so I’ll trust what they’ve seen to this point.

Sorry if any of the above comes across snarkily - absolutely not my intent… I just disagree with the overall premise (that he’s wasting a roster spot).  For now anyway.

Not taken snarky, as it's not my intention either but I'm sure some of it has.  Unfortunately, we will have to agree to disagree about Montez.  It's almost a chicken vs egg situation for me: was it that he settled in as he got more comfortable or did his circumstance place among the talent he best falls in line with(players that in most instances wont be on these rosters come cut down, unless they over achieve in other areas such as special teams).   I won't tie up or derail the thread any more with this, if you'd like to continue feel free to DM me.  I've enjoyed the conversation.  Either way, enjoy the season!

I wasn't not pronouncing him as a rising star. I was just saying it's way too early to just give up on him.

He likely ends up on the PS. And I'm fine with that. He still needs time. Time, not just to develop, but to find out if he's worth developing.

I understood, I apologize if I gave you the impression I expected anything from Montez other than being a body.  My problem is that he was almost called into action last season and without Kyle being healthy, that opportunity may very well present itself again.  He's had plenty of time at this point to know what you have in him.  I understand all the hurdles he's had to overcome due to COVID issues directly and indirectly affecting him.

I actually agree with most of your points, but keep in mind that we’re not just talking about a developmental guy that has had very little PT, but also a 3rd stringer who’s reps in camp are few and far between, missed OTAs - Jordan Ta’amu was signed to throw - and didn’t have any offseason last year.  In other words, he’s arguably in a worse spot than even UDFA qbs this year… they’ve at least played recently.  The fact he settled down a bit is actually a nice feather in his cap, particularly as he ended his outing with 2 really nice plays to the endzone in a high pressure situation.

I feel like I should also point out 1) that 2 of his best plays - the 3rd down conversion to Patterson and the TD - were both thrown while scrambling, and 2) yes he played better against 3rd stringers… but he’s actually our 4th string qb (even if he’s been our de facto 3rd string qb the past two weeks).

And then the consecutive throw for the 2-pointer to AGG, was also pretty impressive, whether it was technically a score or not.

We've had QB's with much more experience, struggle with that type of throw.

The throw to Patterson(I'll give him credit for finding him during the scramble) was IMHO more on Patterson's adjustment to the ball, than Montez's throw to him.  The TD in the back of the end zone and the best throw he had all night to AGG absolutely deserves some credit(which is why I acknowledged he has some talent).  I'd like nothing more than to be wrong, but I feel we are wasting valuable space with him on the team(also ignoring him being bad for most of the game does not bode well for those trying to make the team as a receiver).

It is highly relevant to note, that this was his first NFL action ever, whether it be preseason or regular.

And he also showed improvement within the game.

He's not going to stay the same player he was, in the first series or 2.

I'm kind of stating the obvious, but the obvious had to be stated in this case.

He improved as the quality of defense he was facing continued to drop.  I understand your statement, and agree within reason.  However, he has a deer in the headlights glaze in his eyes that reminded me a lot of Ramsey after Spurrier ruined him.  It showed when he was entering the game, anytime pressure set on him, anytime he scrambled...it's not that he doesn't have talent he seems too scared to play the position.  Is that something he'll outgrow...maybe and I hope he does but I'm not holding my breath while I patiently wait for Kyle Allen to come back from injury and take his job.  He also committed a serious QB no-no when he led AGG into what would have been an on field murder, had the rules not been there to protect the receiver.

  11. Really only a few bad things from last night, and I wont overreact but it does worry me a bit:

Barber will give you 1 yard every time, regardless of needing 1 or 2(For all that's holy give the ball to Patterson again, he would have gotten in as well)

Our defense still seems to lack the speed  needed to run sideline to sideline BUT that front and edge push...just wow

I love DHop and backed sticking with him last season through his struggles but it's time to make some competition

The gunners and blockers seemed lackadaisical at times during kick/punt coverages

I never want to see Steven Montez in a game again, I know he ran an ok drive to end the game but that doesn't make up for how bad he was since mid-way through 3rd quarter

    Postives:

    No injuries

Chase Young is a monster, we all knew it...he just reminded us in 3 1/2 minutes

Fitz and Terry seem to already have a connection, it's been a long time since we've seen a route like that hit the receiver in stride

Patterson may be the second best back on the team

Sammis and Bates both showed they have potential but need time to grow

St Juste looks ready to play

I loved the misdirection pre-snap out of the backfield

  12. Not sure if this goes here, but looking at the Twitter feed side bar and seeing how Junior Galette is whining again over the FA signing of Tebow...it reminds me how happy I am that I've blocked him.  He's really become a one trick pony.  I agree Tebow shouldn't have been signed, I even agree it's a sham that he hasn't been signed.  However, the whole side bar is of him complaining about it.

Our OL wasn’t as good as their PFF grades and rankings. And I don’t think my eyes are crazy since our coaches obviously thought the same thing.

I don't necessarily think our starters were bad, but there was an absolute lack of depth and you saw it any time Moses or Scherff were knocked out of play or shifted on the line to make up for injuries.  We hadn't signed anyone that is a lock for day one starting OL(maybe Flowers), but we needed to definitely address our lack of depth along the line.

I don't understand why incorporate comp picks if we aren't drafting for a team?  Is it basically to just eliminate taking into account team needs, but we would still be assigned a particular team's draft slots?

If the ultimate goal is to gain points based on team's picks/%correct then you would throw off those numbers starting with the 3rd round.  Now if we wanted to do this based only on the first two rounds than it would work, or am I missing the idea all together?
