  1. Just so you know, you're wrong about this. This guy may be as slimy as they come, but it's not like he is speaking in generalizations at this point, these are very specific claims, and unless he is just a blithering idiot then it stands to reason that he probably has the goods. He has named very specific parties, within a very specific time frame, using very specific methods of payment, that isn't the hallmark of a bluff.
  2. No because subjectivity on a collective scale WILL and has excused nearly every atrocity in recorded history.
  3. I'm just showing how stupid utilitarian ethics is by demonstratingbthe absudities that get accepted because the results are positive. I also think it's interesting that you use "the original sins" to describe the gassing but in utilitarian (results based) there is no such thing as a sin absent of the result. The question is which results you value and which you don't.
  4. Wrong The medical discoveries learned in the camps through the detailed notes on the tourture frame much of what we know about medicine today. Ever wonder how we know things like the rule of 3's, or how long a human brain can go without oxygen without lasting damage? All from the camps.
  5. Then you will NEVER be able to detetmine the ethics of ANYTHING because all you need to do is push the equation down another generation.
  6. Gassing 6 million people in order to reduce economic and agrelicultural stress on a nation good. Herein lies the problem with utilitarian ethics.
  7. Oh yeah, you're right there are a lot of people easily convinced, CBD, flat earthers, anti-vaxxers, essential oils and QVC are proof of that. As for your previous question, that was a kindergarden question. For the record, the reason most people belong to those religions is because of their parents and their culture, not because they've been convinced through sound reasoning. Ask me how I know...please
  8. No ****. and they didn't even do that, tell me again how much Boeing cared.
  9. It's interesting because as I sit here in a personal time of post-faith I watched that same movie this weekend, and Langdon was robbed by the script writers (or he bit his tongue) fron the immediate retort that his "church" is science which has provided much of the ability to heal the sick in those religious hospitals. Biological science that was fought against by the church in favor of doctrinal statements about sickness demons rather than microbes and DNA, but now the church gets to claim the fruit of the science they fought and then claim the credit as evidence of the divine. But, that wasn't the point of the movie, and Langdon was trying to catch a killer.
  10. If you would like a safe space for your feelings I suggest not posting things on the internet. Also, answering a question with what is the equivalent of "Because the Bible tells me so" is not going to convince many outside of a third grade Sunday School class.
  11. Just so you know, that's not nearly as clever or as convincing as you want it to be.
  12. I always figured a dark night would be agonizing...this is just the opposite. I'm actually more at peace now than ever.
  13. The presumption is that the universe, galaxies, Earth are constructed. See, those arguments simply don't hold water for me. The natural world doesn't have nail holes.
  14. I'm against the expansion of nuclear energy. The more it spreads the greater the likelihood of another diaster. Japan, Russia, 3-Mile. The more you add the more things WILL go wrong.
  15. Probably one of the reasons I still semi-identify as Christian. Anymore I don't know what I believe, pretty crazy huh? I don't talk about this openly but I haven't been to church in over 5 years, and I have no inclination to return. If I describe myself as anything it would probably be as a philosophical Christian. Meaning a liberalized pseudo-Christian morality but the spiritual aspects gutted from it. It might be considered an agnostic with a liberal Christian morality. I doubt nearly all aspects of the spiritual side of Christian doctrine and theology, up to and including the existence of god. Yeah, it's been a long road. My biggest problems: 1: the problem of evil, why does god save one person in a car wreck yet not another. 2: theological divergence over time rather than cohesion challenges the sufficiency of god's revelation and holy spirit guiding the faithful 3: the idea of the "true" or "authentic" church being hidden. Every time I ask about evangelical support for Trump I hear Christians tell me that the real church is out there in spite of everything. Yet, that's always the excuse, if you don't see it then it must be hidde. Sooner or later it should probably show up. That's where it starts, but it goes on from there.
  16. Nothing gets twa posting articles from cherry picked sources and and hyping nuclear energy like finding out that Shell Oil is committed to the Paris Accord and hearing from his cohorts at Faux News.
  17. A ****ING AIRLINE MANUFACTURER NOT FIXING THEIR **** THEN SELLING A PATCH JOB AS A ****ING OPTION IS ****ING CRIMINAL.
  18. And the necessity of said light was downplayed by Boeing so much that the training for the Max series was on an ipad. It is painfully obvious that Boeing knew of the problem and only did half measures to address it even after the first crash. Even after the second they fought to keep them flying all to protect their stock value and sales. Boeing thought it was so important that they offered an OPTIONAL warning light for $80,000 rather than just installing a ****ing light.
  19. Boeing fixes their problem when they learn about it and.....wait for it...... ...... ....... ....... ........ ........ keep waiting..... ....... ........ those planes don't crash! those people live this thread doesn't exist.
  20. Which is based on facts, reason, and the opinion of experts. Your's is based solely on truthiness.
