  1. The thing about winston which makes him different then some of the other QB's that are getting hyped as trade prospects is that he already had a near best case scenario supporting cast and couldn't perform with it. If you were trying to project his stats with a different team/scenario its quite possible that things could only get worse for him. But who knows, for a bargain contract it might be worth taking a look.
  2. How to do it? Well that is the issue isnt it? I keep hearing people railing against this strawman fan that is satisfied with a mediocre qb. Nobody is satisfied with that. Every fan and WFT coach/gm should want to upgrade every position, always. We all want a great qb but they dont grow on trees and getting one isnt solely a function of wanting one more. If there isnt one available, what else can a team do other then try to improve the position as best they can? If getting that top 5 franchise QB was the only thing that would satisfy us, this year or any year, then practically speaking the quickest and most reliable way to do this would be to tank and tank hard. As of right now Watson is not even available so if we want an elite guy we will have to draft him. So all of the fans that think that there desire for a top 5 qb is some kind of hot take, then put your money where your mouth is and call for the tank now. If that is the only result that is worthwhile then the only real certain way to accomplish it is to play to lose and to keep doing it until you can draft the next elite guy at 1 overall. or close. Personally I wand to build the team and upgrade all the positions, including QB and expect that they t can win and win consistently. Maybe they will find a guy that is elite or maybe they wont but its hard to imagine it wont be from lack of trying. If thats not good enough for some of you, if that is poor strategy, then the WFT needs to lose and lose big.. so be honest about it and no more double talk.
  3. I think this is probably what will end up happening but if they can sneak in and get a stafford or watson i wouldnt blame them. I think its pointless to trade for a mid level guy like darnold or bridgewater though. Not unless its a 6th round pick or later. If they want to sign a vet, thats cool, or draft a guy in any round really, but dont trade picks for anyone that isnt a clear upgrade over heinicke or allen because they could end up being pretty good options. Health is a factor but that why you have two of them.
  4. if simms catches that first perfect deep pass he threw, he might have been close to those numbers. We also could have got a W and be god knows where in the playoffs right now. No other qb has played that well in a big game for this team in arguably 20 years. He simply lit it up, even Brady couldnt believe it. So why is it crazy to expect him not to be able to do it again? What else can he do to prove himself other then perform? He does not have a significant history of not being able to perform in this league, at least not yet, only a history of not being healthy. But that is something that could change, you never know. I expect the WFT to be aggressive going after another QB this year and be very hesitant to rely on an oft-injured guy like Heinicke but I also expect them to be confident that given the chance, he could play that well again.
  5. Agreed There is a small but significant difference between a playoff roster and a super bowl roster. Indy might have a good team in place but are they good enough to beat Kansas city or Buffalo? Without any truly elite pieces, what is their ceiling? If i was Stafford and I was really going for it all I would bet on the potential of Young and Sweat being at the core of an elite unit that can be the real difference makers against the best teams in the big games. WIth so many of their core players on cheap deals, the WFT is a few FA's and a good draft away from having a roster that can rival Indy in its completeness. But nothing Indy can do will likely get them players like young or sweat to cap it off.
  6. trade for stafford with the first. sign Allen robinson and a MLB and a mid level/high upside budget corner. draft Toney for the slot with the 2nd and another running back with one of the 3rds. Maybe an LT with the other. THis would be my dream scenario. Toney and A ROB are two perfect pieces for this offense. Toney is truly unbelievable in space and will be a deadly weapon in the NFL> A rob is the only elite talent available in WR FA. Put another RB and some OL depth in this group and we are really looking good even if we dont get stafford.
  7. Yea what he did in that one game against that bucs team with those crazy circumstances says a lot. He looked just like Russel Wilson on steriods out there. But his injury history is wild. So apparently he started out in minnesota as a UDFA but ended up going on IR because of a freak foot injury outside of football. Then when he went to Houston he actually got a start coming in for Yates only to have a concussion after his first pass. Then in Carolina he managed to play a few games but got injured again and put on IR. This is both positive and negative because it shows that he still has not really had a legit shot yet, but also that he has never been able to hold up either. I agree that its smart to still go after a number one guy but I am really happy, assuming they keep him, that he could get another shot at some point because I think he has the skills and especially that killer mobility they really need on this offense.
  8. If it wasnt for the injury concerns I would be all in for Taylor Heinicke. It may have only been one game but he has everything I want in a QB. Wheels, accuracy, play recognition, and clutch ability. THe more I watch that game and the more i learn about him the more I like him. I think he could be the real deal... seriously. But only if he can stay on the field, and that is a big if.
  9. The issue is not whether or not Detroit is obligated to take an inferior offer or whether Stafford has any say in what offer they accept. This issue is will the offering team still make the same offer if Stafford says I do not want to play for you. If you are the WFT are you going to make a huge trade for stafford if he basically says I do not want to come there under any circumstance? I dont think so. This is why stafford has a say in where he gets traded and also whether or not he will get a new contract if he does. Because everyone has to be on the same page for it to work correctly.
  10. Payne still has a 5th year option I think. Settle and Allen will need to be signed after next year. Allen is a must sign for this team. His ability to get pressure up the middle is approaching elite level production and he is just getting better. It is this part of his game that pairs perfectly with the DE's and will make this unit lethal for the next five years. Settle has a lot of poential but to he has not proven he can do what Allen does. If anyone does not get signed it will be him. Not to mention Allen is the leader and a big part of the improved culture of this defense.
  11. He has a calmness and instinct in the pocket that is hard to teach. This is the most important trait I Iook for in a QB. Not just movement in the pocket but the ability to still make quality throws within it, when big bodies are around. He might end up being the best qb in the draft besides lawrence. I wouldnt even be mad if they had to trade up a little to get him, but It would be very fortunate if they could get him outright in the first wherever they pick.
  12. Curl is such a gem, how did they find this guy? He might be one of the best SS's in the league right now. He looks that good.
  13. I am happy Cam has contributed but I think his hands are always going to be a problem. Looking at the Pittsburgh game, even the catches he did make looked awkward and he never seems to catch the ball smoothly. He is not a rookie either. If he hasn't learned these skills yet, its hard to imagine its going to click anytime soon. Gandy Golden looks to have really great hands and I can't wait to see what he can do.
  14. Complete with a Pittman4two quote hahaha He was the best.
  15. Thats awesome! I saw him at an airport in miami one time and said hello, but I was too starstruck to say anything other then HTTR. I wish I would have brought that up. I know he would appreciate fans remembering the small things like that that made him great. Glad to hear you were able to share that with him.
  16. If I remember correctly it was Sheldon Quarles or something like that. Still one of my favorite Portis memories. Even Portis was psyched after that hit, like he just scored a TD. haha
  17. I found it hard to judge his ability to handle press coverage and physicality because the refs really let guys hang all over him in most of his games. I think that they let a lot more PI calls go in these small school games. Especially with a man among boys like GG out there you can imagine why they would feel comfortable looking other way when some small school DB starts grabbing at him. This is one of the reasons I think he projects better then one might think looking at his play. He really was in a different environment than most of other prospects. It is going to be interesting to see how NFL CB's match up without being able hold and grab him. I think they are going to find that he is a monster trained in the pits.
  18. https://youtu.be/18rTcZYOffs I dont know how to embed videos but this is a cutup of gandy golden playing umass. Been doing some homework on him and after watching this, I really believe he could be the biggest sleeper on the squad. The thing about GG that I started to realize after watching a whole game as opposed to just highlights is that he essentially was used like we all used randy moss in madden when he was at his peak. They just lobbed the ball up to him deep on jump ball plays, no matter the coverage, and he consistently took the ball from whoever was on him. Everyone on the defense knows he getting the ball and more often then not he is being interfered with and held. it never mattered. He just dominated. This guy never had an accurate or strong arm qb or and offense that did much to scheme him open. He was a one man wrecking crew that just ran down the field and took the ball over everyone and anyone. When he gets the benefit of a modern offense, a qb with arm strength, and a chance to fly under the radar a bit, he is going to really surprise some folks. High hopes for him. HTTR.
  19. I think there is very little chance that someone trades with cincy and takes young. the reason is that there are probably teams who would be willing to trade for 1 overall for young and for burrow but there is little chance that the teams trading for young are going to give up as much as the ones trading for burrow. It is true that they might like the draft position better of detroit as a trade partner for chase but its hard to imagine that would outweigh the sheer volume of draft capital they might be able to get for a team trading up for burrow.
  20. (mod edit of OT, delusional, and rule violating content since you were told you not to post here again --no penalty, though) Jumbo I made the post before this before I read your post. Message received
  21. Right, and this is all I have claimed since the very beginning. It has taken pages of text to even get anyone to acknowledge it. There has been nobody charged with collusion or anything resembling it. Whatever proof there might be or might not be, right now the outcome of this investigation is not certain. If nothing comes of it then given the resources allocated to it, it is a pretty strong indicator that the proof that some people think exists, might not. This is the hypothetical I proposed and it is not outlandish. We will see. Why everyone thinks I have made some baseless claims is beyond me. Maybe this is such an emotional issue that even the suggestion of possible outcome that does not support the past two years of countless collusion accusations and investigations, must be a scary thought. I understand.
  22. I appreciate it. That is the most thorough explanation I have received. I think we are going to find out soon what sort of fairy tale world we really live in. I do not know why its such a vile thing for me to post about the possibility of no collusion when as of right now that is the case. Why are dissenting opinions so threatening? Why must I stop? I have not made any assertions that were even that outlandish. I just asked a hypothetical question about a possible outcome of the investigation and made a vaild assertion that there is currently nobody guilty of collusion. I will stop but not because I think that I should. If I had the energy it would be a great thing for there to be some diversity of opinions here.
  23. You have. You have. What does Mueller have? You have Opinions and conjecture friend, and links to other people with opinions. You say you can prove me wrong then do it. Show me where somebody has been charged with collusion. that is the only argument I have made. Nobody has proven me wrong. Maybe that will change but as of now there is nothing. I like how you manage to call me dumb multiple times without disproving a single thing I said. Its ok though. I dont think your dumb. I dont think anyone in here is dumb. Just emotionally compromised. I still love you.
  24. What are twitter and googles ratings? Bet they gotta be big. Do you think they are bias in how they choose to censor or control information? Anyway. the article: It basically proves my point. They are basically admitting that they have not proven collusion yet but they have information regarding manafort that could qualify, the investigation is ongoing. I have never asserted that they would not have any proof only that they have not shown any yet. IF additional proof comes to light, specifically what this article references then I would have to change my premise. As of right now Manaforts crimes DO NOT prove collusion. Why not take a look at what Manafort was convicted of? Why just hear the word russia and assume it implicates trump? WHo was he working for at the time of his crimes? What was the situation? The information might surprise you. wowza... we have truly entered the twilight zone if people do not know this.
  25. Good question and thanks for at least attempting to answer my original question. There are a lot of ongoing investigations that will shed more light on what really happened. mueller Is not the only one investigating circumstances surrounding this. If Mueller Indicts trump then he will have his chance to defend himself against the charges. I honestly dont know what I will think until i see the details but if there is enough evidence that can be proven I will have to hold him accountable. I have not really done any of the things you suggested. If you note I have not tried to prove that he is innocent only that he has not been proven guilty of collusion nor has anyone else... yet. Amazingly this seemingly obvious statement sounds outrageous to everyone. I wonder why? Yes it was rush limbaugh that made me state the obvious. Damn him and the other 1% of conservative voices available in the 99% liberal dominated information space.
