Sal Pal is on 980 and keeps saying he thinks McNabb is going to Minnesota after this season
-
lol The O's were dominant in the 90s?...I must have missed that!
Not dominate, but they did have 2 really good years in 96 and 97. In 97 they went wire to wire to win the division with 98 wins.
So the Rays are giving away 20,000 tickets to tonights game. Wonder if they'll have more than 20,000 fans there?
Heard an interesting stat about Felix Hernandez. In 9 of his 12 losses this year, he has gotten 0 or 1 run of run support. That's nuts!
-
Wow....the Rays have been on fire the past few years and it seems like the Tampa area couldn't care less.
Is it just me, or do the they not deserve to have baseball down there?
I think alot of it has to do with the stadium. Its a dump and not in a great area. But regardless, people should still go watch a great team play. I think more people go to Orioles' games than Rays'.

"It's a fair question," Selig said Friday before the St. Louis Cardinals played the Chicago Cubs. "We have less teams than any other sport. Eight teams make the playoffs. One wild card in each league. We certainly haven't abused anything."
He's not afraid of upsetting the purists, who were vocal in their opposition when the sport added the wild card.
"As the guy who brought the wild card and took a lot of abuse -- maybe from nobody in this room -- it's worked out great, nobody's against it," Selig said.
I'd be ok with adding another wild card team in. Considering only 8 of the 30 team make the playoffs, it would at least make things interesting in more cities down the stretch.

watch the last guy run lol

October 7th - 17th (because 7 days just aren't enough for beer week)
Nice I think I may have to go to Oktoberfest. Why does the Beer Festival have to be on a Sunday? I know the Skins don't play til that night, but its a home game so I'll be at FedEx.

Heavy Seas update:
Just bottled the first go-round of Winter Storm yesterday. Mmmm mmmm....
We will be bottling both Yule Tide and Below Decks this month, so look for them mid-November.
Baltimore beer week is coming up, LOTS of great events all around the city.
When does it start?

As anyone had the Sam Adams Pumpkin Harvest? I think I like it better than Octoberfest and I didn't think that was possible.
-
Stocked up a little variety today, the Victory 12 pack sampler(best sampler out there), 6 Steel Head Extra Stouts (I'm really excited about this brew) and a 6er of Sam Adams Latitude 48. I cracked a SA IPA a couple of minutes ago, I must say, it's pretty damn good, by far the best beer they make.
Latitude 48 is really good

The new Sam Adams Harvest Pumpkin is amazing. Nice little pumpkin flavor, I like it better than Octoberfest

How the hell does Tampa Bay have a MLB team? Here they are in the middle of a division race...and 10,000 fans show up to support them. Great fanbase. Whoever thought that would be a good market for a team is just dumb.
Yeah you gotta feel bad for the players. They never really have a homefield advantage. But their stadium is a dump.
-
What the hell is wrong with the Cardinals? They are really struggling right now.
-
time travler
Hmm...I dunno this guy sounds legit.

Yankees spent millions in 2003-2007 and didn't win title, so you can't just throw money at a team and have them win title, as Redskins fans we know this
Right but at the same time, the Skins have to stay under the salary cap, so if we spend big money and it doesn't work out, it hurts us. If the Yankees spend big money and it doesn't work, they can move on quickly and still spend money.
-
Sounds right
And I don't understand the Yankee hate even as a Baltimore follower
Yes, they are a division rival
BUT THEY BUY EVERYONE
EVEN THOUGH THE RED SOX CUBS AND OTHER MAJOR MARKET TEAMS ARE GUILTY OF THE SAME TRANSGRESSION
If Yankees were only ones buying players, I'd be bitter, but I'm not because other franchises spend 50 mil for the rights to sign a mediocre Japanese pitcher
BUT YANKEES ARE THE VILLAINS
EVIL
Yeah the Yankees are evil. And them "buying" everyone is different than the Red Sox or Cubs because those 2 teams actually have a limit they are willing to go. The Yankees payroll is $40MM more than the Red Sox and about $60MM more than the Cubs. That's a huge difference. Yes the Red Sox and Cubs spend money, but its nowhere near what the Yankees spend.
-
They must have a couple more series head-to-head right? I think St. Louis still makes up the ground somehow, but that could be naive.
I still think St. Louis will win the division, but I didn't think it would be this close. I was for sure once they swept the Reds that would run away with the division. The Cardinals definitely have the better pitching with Carpenter, Wainwright, and Garcia. The Reds might have a slightly better offense, but the Cards have more experience, It will definitely make for a good race down the stretch.
-
Is anyone else shocked the Reds are leading the NL Central by 5 games?
I am. I honestly thought the Central was the Cards' after they swept the Reds a few weeks back. But since then the Card have looked horrible. And the Reds are supposed to be calling up Chapman who was throwing in the 100s during his last outing.

NY Times is reporting Clemens has been indited

Funny you say that, coming off a game where they put up a 10 spot. However, I agree with you. It would seem that they need to make a move. The Phils are getting healthier by the day.
But I wonder if Lee would want to go to the Braves? I remember him turning down a trade to the Angels earlier.
I think he would accept a trade to the Braves since they are in a playoff race. The Angles were hanging on for dear life when they were trying to get Lee. So I can see him waiving the no-trade clause.
-
Braves close to landing D.Lee. If nothing else, the defensive upgrade over Glaus with be staggering. Glaus can barely walk at this point. Hopefully Lee's back is sorted out.
http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/mlb/news/story?id=5473305
NO way Glaus goes to 3rd. Wouldn't be surprised if he is released outright to be honest. But I doubt it.
Wouldn't be a bad move for the Braves, they definitely need some offense.

Has anyone tried the new Sam Adams Latitude 48? Its their new IPA and I think its pretty damn good!

I agree with Gardenhire's move to take Slowey out of the game. He was thinking of the future and not just one game. Slowy had just missed his last start with elbow soreness and he had already thrown 100+ pitches in the game. No point in risking injury just so he could have a chance of pitching a no-no.
