  1. They better not overturn this.....you cant undo what has been done. I agree it was the wrong call and they should have instant replay but you cant change what has been done. What about the Berkman check swing vs. the Nationals on Tuesday night that should have been the 3rd strike and 3rd out in the 9th inning to end the game?

    Whats done is done.

This debacle should force BUD into getting replay in the game.

Check swing is a judgement call. There is nothing in the rulebook that states what a check swing is. Some umps say its when the bat goes across the plate, some say is when the batter breaks his wrists. So they can review a judgement call, just like they don't review holding or pass interference in the NFL. Safe/Out isn't a judgement call and in this case it was pretty clear he was out.

  2. I'm not gonna let Joyce off the hook that easy. Sure, he owned up to it, but he blew the call bigtime. In that circumstance, don't you give the pitcher the benefit of the doubt? I mean, a perfect game was on the line.

And this is why I'm having trouble letting Joyce off the hook. It wasn't even really that close of a play. He was out by almost a half step.

I agree that even if he doubted the call, he had to call him out. Even the got that got the "hit" said he assumed he would be called out in that situation, when he was called safe he had a confused look on his face like he knew he was out.

But you have to give Joyce credit for owning up to it and apologizing to Galarraga.

  3. That was a shame for Galarraga to have his perfect game taken away. I do give Joyce alot of credit for owning up to his mistake and apologizing to Galarraga personally. Now the right thing to do would be for Selig to say the call was blown and it was a perfect game, will it happen, probably not. But baseball needs instant replay for those kinds of calls. I was against intstant replay in baseball, but they need it now. When history is on the line and the ump admits he missed the call, the commish has to do something.

And for those of you who hate baseball, don't post in here anymore then.

  4. Colorado Rockies pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez has the lowest era ever after the first 10 starts to a season

Where the hell did he come from? I don't remember anyone talking about him before this season. He was 15-12 last year with a 3.47 ERA, which isn't bad, but I don't think anyone saw this coming. He looks like the real deal so far.

So what does he have a better chance of doing, breaking Gibson's ERA record of 1.12 or winning 30 in a season?

  5. Nice set up is that yours? I made a kegerator a few years back for my homebrew but its not as nice as the one you have pictured. Mine is just a simple stainless steel minifridge conversion. Would love to know how you added the graphics/colors (if its yours).

That's gotta be his. The Heavy Seas case is a dead give away lol

  6. For any southern Marylanders, or anyone who would like to make the trip,,, try the Ruddy Duck Brewery in Solomons.

I really like the Helles.. delicious.. very full body with a nice bite of hops.

I love the stuff. (Nice bar too.. very spacious and open.)

They sell Growlers to go, and since i bought mine I go down and fill it up whenever I feel like drinking beer. Fresh and delicious,, beats the hell out of anything in the stores.

Where in Solomons is it? I was down there for Tiki Bar and I still have never seen the place. I remember you saying something about it before, but I just can't seem to find it haha

  7. I didn't know that either, until the brewer explained it to me. He did say that the issues with cans affecting the taste of beer is a thing of the past.

I guess the best way to find out is find something available in cans and bottles, that is palatable, and try a blind taste test. Yuengling maybe?

I haven't tried Yuengling in a can, but it'll be on the list.

  8. Why?

As far as packaging is concerned, cans are superior to bottles.

Less air in the headspace when filled, no light can penetrate it and it's cheaper to can beer, than to bottle it. The only reason more craft brewers don't can beer, is because the perception that beer is "better" in bottles and bottles look better.

I learned that talking to the managing partner of a local craft brewer.

That's probably the reason that Brewer's Art is putting it in cans.

As far as the Resurrection goes...agreed....it's damn good.

Didn't know all that. For some reason to me though, bottles taste better. But either way, I'll be loading up on resurrection!

  9. http://weblogs.baltimoresun.com/entertainment/midnight_sun/blog/2010/04/brewers_art_will_can_resurrect.html

Brewer's Art will offer its flagship beer, Resurrection Ale, in cans, owners announced today.

The Mount Vernon brew pub, which already distributes Resurrection in 750-milliliter glass bottles, hopes to have six-pack cans of the abbey-style ale in stores before Memorial Day, according to co-owners Tom Creegan and Volker Stewart.

"We're taking the plunge," Creegan said.

Though the price hasn't been finalized, Creegan thinks it will be $9.99. Pictured, at right, is a prototype of the design for the 12-ounce cans.

The first batch of Resurrection for the new line of cans will start brewing at Sly Fox Beer in Penn. next week. Sly Fox also makes and bottles the 750-milliliter Resurrection line.

I love me some resurrection! Wish it was bottles instead of cans, but I'm excited to get some nonetheless

  10. OK, Skip Bayless just proved he's on drugs. He said that he'll take Ryan Howard over Albert Pujols. Skip actually said that Howard is more clutch. Did he not see last years World Series? I like Howard, but he strikes out way too much for my taste, even though his strike outs have been down this year.

I don't listen to anything Skip says. He always like to take the extreme opposite side of what everyone else believes. Pujols is the best player in the game right now and we'll retire as one of the all-time greats.

  11. What do you guys think of this? The A-Rod vs Dallas Braden story:

Braden's big beef: In the sixth inning of the A's 4-2 victory, Rodriguez went from first to third on a foul ball by Robinson Cano(notes). His trip back to first took him right over the pitcher's mound, an unspoken no-no that ticked Braden off right away.

After a double play ended the inning, the 26-year-old pitcher immediately started yelling at A-Rod — watch it here — who claimed he didn't know he had done anything wrong

He also claimed he didn't know Braden was talking to him at first.

    Said Rodriguez:

"He just told me to get off his mound. I was a little surprised. I'd never quite heard that. Especially from a guy that has a handful of wins in his career ... I thought it was pretty funny actually."

    Said Braden:

"He should probably take a note from his captain over there and realize you don't cross the pitcher's mound in between an inning or during the game. I was just dumbfounded that he would let that slip his mind — being someone of such status."

"I don't care if I'm Cy Young or the 25th man on the roster, if I've got the ball in my hand and I'm on that mound, that's my mound ... He ran across the pitcher's mound foot on my rubber. No, not happening. We're not the door mat anymore."
