  1. I just watched two games of Howell (vs ND 2021 and vs FSU 2021) and there were a few takeaways from those particular games. First the ND game: On youtube as Sam Howell (North Carolina QB) vs Notre Dame 2021 1. Howell is not an NFL runner. He won't be doing any designed running plays minus a "keep the DEF honest" or goal line keeper here and there. 2. He did have good movement as a scrambler when people weren't open or the play broke down. Reminded me of how Rodgers will pick up 5-15 yards on a play instead of having to chuck it out of bounds. 3. The NC offense didn't seem much different from what Washington runs with little Turner. 4. Seemed to lock on one receiver a little too much but most college QBs do that. 5. Not very many good views of it but he appeared to throw with some anticipation a few times. Nice to see. 6. Arm strength isn't an issue but not strong enough to be throwing off platform regularly. 7. Ball placement on short/intermediate passes was just ok. The FSU game: On youtube as Sam Howell (North Carolina QB) vs Florida State 2021 1. Still not an NFL designed run runner. 2. He did a really good job escaping the pocket and getting yards with his feet. 3. Did a much better job looking off the defenders. 4. Threw a nice long out pattern with anticipation. 5. Ball placement on short/intermediate passes was pretty good. 6. A couple of drops hurt him but his deep ball accuracy wasn't overly impressive. In both games he hit the uncovered guys in stride and had big runs that would never happen in the NFL (piss poor tackling). I'd be interested if anyone else sees the same thing or not from those games. @KDawg @Skinsinparadise @RWJ etc.
  2. Everything you said is accurate and relatable...but he is 29 years old. Youth is not an excuse here...maybe immaturity.
  3. From Kyle S. in regards to passing on Watson and Mahomes in 2017 and taking DL Solomon Thomas. https://www.nbcsports.com/bayarea/49ers/kyle-shanahan-explains-why-49ers-didnt-draft-patrick-mahomes "Anybody who had a chance to take Patrick Mahomes or Deshaun who didn't, everyone knows ... yeah, everyone wishes we had a time machine," "So you're looking into these rookies, we've got the second pick in the draft, and no one at that time was considering those guys top-five picks, top-10 picks. But people knew that they had some ability." "I thought the D-line is kind of what gets you to the Super Bowl, but you've gotta have the quarterback to do it, so which one is going to come first? And you have guys that weren't being classified as top-10 picks yet because no one thought they were exactly a slam dunk yet, and so do you want to make that risk now?
  4. How can anyone that has been a fan of this team longer than 28 minutes (or watched the NFL before) think they are not that far away or would be fine with some more playmakers and not take a shot on a very good to elite QB? Mind blowing.
  5. if that happens they might have to play him before week 6…
  6. Backpedaling for no reason. Put your foot in the ground and throw a strike Taylor!
  7. The only attitude to have watching this team in my opinion…
  8. True…but if they had really gone hard for Herbert and been rebuffed by Dan…we would have heard about it by now. It’s not like any of us were in for Herbert either though…but I expect the professionals to be better than me/us.
  9. I know why it happened the way it did…but that doesn’t make it right. AZ drafted Murray after drafting Rosen in the first round Carolina drafted Newton after drafting Clausen in the second round You are allowed to move on from mistakes
  10. What do you mean? Because they took Burrow and not Herbert? That’s not the point…the point is it appeared this team was taking CY the moment they locked up the #2 pick. Due diligence and better talent eval would have made Herbert the pick for a team with the need for a “franchise qb”.
  11. You are right…but that’s a talent eval issue that shouldn’t be brushed under the rug either.
  12. @Skinsinparadise we are pretty much lockstep in the WFT podcasts we listen to and what we like/dislike about them…this should worry you greatly…
  13. He was yelling at a Cincy player who was apparently talking trash to Patterson after he tackled him. Over protective big brother stuff, lol
  14. @bowhunter is on it with the tongue and cheek…but the game is on live via nfl network…so sorry SOBs like me get to see it.
  15. I agree with the first part of this as well…I was just wondering how you can not believe things you haven’t even looked into. You said you didn’t even know all the allegations…I didn’t. As for your last sentence…frankly, you don’t have a clue as to what you are talking about because I have never made a single comment on this board about the Watson situation. If you took what I asked you as passing judgement then you might want to get a little better perspective on that because I did no such thing. I guess I got my answer either way. Take care and go Football Team.
  16. I’m curious as to how you can ‘not buy into all the allegations’ and believe “he’ll rebound from all this” when you have “not read what they all are”? Seems confusing unless you are just basing your conclusions on a self admitted lack of information. Ask your buddy if he needs help drinking beers or throwing stuff off a bridge (or both) because I could use a set of those bad boys!
