I know I'm gonna get a backlash for this, but I really don't give a ****.

It's not to say that it's SCARIER for dudes right now. Sometimes I think society is nothing but a game of one up-manship where it's a constant battle as to who's got it worse and that's not what I'm trying to do here.
But this is unsettling. The article goes on to say that it was settled out of court with Bryant admitting no guilt. He doesn't have a guilty record of rape, yet people are still holding something against him that happened 15 years ago.
It's not scary for dudes in a "I can't walk to my car at night" situation, but no ones pretending that it is. It IS scary from the perspective of "Even if these charges are bogus, even if I'm innocent, people are still going to hold this over me for the rest of my life." Yeah, it's Kobe Bryant, yeah, he's got a ton of money and doesn't get held back from things in life that are significant. Ultimately, being held back from being on a jury for a film festival is small potatoes. But what about the dude who isn't world famous, who's applying for a job and they have to do a background check? It won't come up as a felony, but it'll still come up. And as a recruiter, someone who finds people jobs for our clients, I admit that I wouldn't send that guy to a client.
Again, not trying to say that men have it worse, but to say that it's not scary for men in certain respects these days is ignorant. Even if innocent, it's still going to hold people back from opportunities.
