  1. No it's not lol... If they give Heinicke the franchise tag two years in a row while offering him a lower tier starting QB contract, and then refused to trade Heinicke even though teams were inquiring about him, THEN it will be exactly how they let Cousins go.
  2. "a conditional 6th round pick in 2025 being swapped for a conditional 7th in 2025." What?
  3. Yeah, that pissed me off, too lol...I wanted them down to like their 12th string TE against Washington. Convert their practice squad free safety to a TE or some **** like that lol...
  4. 100% agree... If/when the team sucks eggs, losses should be treated as a consolation prize of sorts...not the main goal.
  5. I don't think anyone's gonna be going for Heinicke in the offseason even as a backup, plus he probably wants to stay here. If they want him back they can do something in the offseason and I bet it gets done. They'll probably let him test the market first, confident in that he won't get too many offers...and if he does, they won't be hard to beat.
  6. Not too sure about that: The NFL hasn't had a 5th round QB amount to anything in at least 10-12 years...I can't figure out why anyone would be so confident that Howell will be that one 5th round QB who can be inserted on this team his rookie season, and "easily" guide them to the playoffs.
  7. Heinicke didn't play against the Bears. And the defense played no role whatsoever in the 2021 Giants and Falcons games--which, for the record, Curl was healthy for both and Jackson actually played in both, so it should have been a detriment from your logic. And the defense played no role in the almost 11 minute drive that sealed the win at the end of the Bucs game last year. They helped the offense gain an early lead, though. But without that long-ass drive at the end that almost took up the entire 4th quarter, it's realistic that they could have just as easily lost. The best defense is a good offense, and all that. Like I said, unless the argument is that guys like Smith and Heinicke just got lucky the defense only played well when they started, all we're doing is finding different ways of dismissing Heinicke's role in his wins as irrelevant. This is most definitely not a team that can win no matter how mediocre the QB is...they aren't constructed that way and have not had coaches that are so amazing they can make Filet Mignon out of cube steak lol...there's no linear path to the wins. And I can't quantify what he brings to the team that helps them win at least one more game than they lose with him behind center. But I'm not gonna pretend that the team is any better than it is and that Heinicke is really, really lucky and just along for the ride. The two QBs with the absolute least physical attributes, have been the only ones to help lead the team to winning records. All the other QBs with far, FAR more physical talent couldn't do jack with the same teams. So there has to be something else those 2 QBs bring to their game that I'm guessing many don't even think about (or don't consider to be important).
  8. Over the last 4 1/2 seasons: Record with Alex Smith as starter: 11-5 Record with Taylor Heinicke as starter: 9-8 Record with all other QBs we've had as starter: 8-32 Either the defense only plays well when Smith and Heinicke are starting...or Smith and Heinicke brought something to their games that actually played a role in the team winning those games.
  9. Just another side note: apparently the Vikings are only favored by 3, which is surprising...and in their last 7 away games they have failed to cover the spread 5 times.
  10. Ummmm lol... According to passing yards allowed per game, the Commanders' D ranks 16th. The Vikes' D ranks--wait for it--29th lol...their defense has allowed more passing yards in 7 games than we have in 8 games.
  11. Nope...in terms of points per game allowed, Vikes' D is ranked 14th, and Commanders' D is ranked 15th
  12. You may wanna switch one or two of the QBs around, but... QBs picked in the top 10 between 2010-2020: Hits Cam Newton Andrew Luck Patrick Mahomes Josh Allen Kyler Murray Joe Burrow Justin Herbert Misses Sam Bradford Jake Locker Blaine Gabbert RG3 Ryan Tannehill Blake Bortles Jameis Winston Marcus Mariota Jared Goff Carson Wentz Mitchell Trubisky Baker Mayfield San Darnold Josh Rosen Daniel Jones Tua Tagovailoa QBs picked #11-#32 between 2010-2020: Hits Deshaun Watson Lamar Jackson Misses Tim Tebow Christian Ponder Brandon Weeden EJ Manuel Johnny Manziel Teddy Bridgewater Paxton Lynch Dwayne Haskins Jordon Love QBs picked in the 2nd round between 2010-2020: Still in the league Andy Dalton Colin Kaepernick Geno Smith Derek Carr Jimmy Garoppolo Drew Lock Jalen Hurts The rest Brock Osweiler Jimmy Clausen Christian Hackenberg Deshone Kizer And just for ****s and giggles: QBs picked in the 5th round (like Howell) between 2010-2020: Hits The Rest John Skelton Jonathan Crompton Ricky Stanzi T.J.
