  1. Dan was reaching out to Shanahan while Zorn was still coaching. Mike wouldn't discuss the job while Zorn was still here out of respect. If they're not under contract with another team there's no rule saying they can't talk to someone.
  2. I think Marrone's a good choice for them. He had the Bills headed in the right direction. And I don't blame him for getting out of his contract in Buffalo. Doug Whaley is an incompetent GM who's done a nice job sucking up to the new ownership in Buffalo. He forced the EJ Manuel pick on Marrone and then blamed coaching for Manuel's struggles.
  3. True, on the outside looking in the Lions seemed to have exceeded expectations making the playoffs. However GM Bob Quinn came over from NE last year. He inherited Caldwell. And from what I've read he hasn't publically said Caldwell is safe, just that it wasn't a playoffs or else kinda deal for him. He might go for McDaniels or Patricia. Or he might follow the same trend as the Giants and Bucs and promote his OC if other teams try to interview Cotter. Stafford's having his best year and they might not want to lose that. ***nevermind I see the Lions announced today Caldwell will be back****
  4. Shouldn't Jim Caldwell be on the potential surprise list? The Lions GM didn't hire Caldwell and there have been talks he might bring in his own hire or possibly promote one of their coordinators. Not sure if the Lions backing into the playoffs changes anything. Especially if they get blown out in Seattle.
  5. I thought Peyton just recently signed a 5-yr extension paying him around $9 million a year. No way the Saints would fire him and buy that contract out with 4 years left on it. However they could possibly trade him. Even if they finish 0-16 the Browns won't fire Hue. They've already turned over HCs too many times in recent years. That job is so toxic right now there is no one more qualified willing to take it. Unless it was someone like Art Briles who I think wants to coach, but no college is going to touch him right now. Bowles, Kelly and Tomlin are safe. Unless Texas calls Kelly. McCarthy I don't know what is going on with that. They've dealt with injuries, but McCarthy won a SB the year the Packers lead the NFL with players on IR. I think the Packers simply haven't been getting the same quality out of the draft that they once were. That's more on the GM then McCarthy IMO. Marvin Lewis, Mike Brown simply doesn't like to fire HCs. Bruce Coslet had to help Mike out and quit on his own. And Coslet was a pretty awful coach. This was year 4 for Bradley and their GM with expectations being the Jags would take a big step forward. Bortles has regressed. Their FA signings haven't really amounted to much. He's gone. I think Fisher is selling to his owner how he was the HC of the Oilers when they transitioned from Houston to Nashville, and how he turned a bunch of 8-8 years into 13-3 and a SB appearance with a stingy defense, a stud running back and a rookie high draft pick QB he made sit on the bench for a couple years. Seems it's working since reports are he's getting an extension. I can see it going either way with Rex. The rest I think are gone.
  6. Because they got beat straight up? Don't give me Bogut. Cavs took two on the Dubs home court which no one thought was possible.
  7. You're probably a Curry fan or a Wall fan. Bottom line is he delivered be you boys couldn't! They dream of having handles like Kyrie. Why not just witness what you saw and appreciate it. And bow down to King James. 73 wins, was a failure. Last years championship was because of injury to the Cavs. Poetic justice served!
  8. To those saying Kyrie is terrible shame on you, he won the game tonight. Warriors got exposed. The Cavs didn't even shoot well from three and still won. History made tonight by Cleveland! 73 win regular season will be forgotten.
  9. Hmm wasn't that their reasoning for hiring Raheem Morris a few years ago? He was considered another Tomlin and they were afraid he would leave to be a HC so they pulled the trigger and promoted him after firing Gruden. Didn't work out so well.
  10. No they're not. Harden had a great year, but no one considered Houston a serious contender. They're as big a fraud as Atlanta is. Memphis was without Conley for some games. The Cavs were without JR Smith for 2 games against the Bulls and were still adjusting to not having Love. The Spurs and Clippers were the only true threats to GS and they avoided them both. Pelicans would of taken a game against the Cavs? Yeah right.
  11. The Cavs and Warriors both dominated. The point is the roads they both travelled to the Finals weren't all that different. People make it out like the Warriors played a murders row because they're in the West.
  12. As a team the Cavs are shooting 36% from 3 and the Warriors 38%. Lebron's shooting dropped that % down of course, The Cavs were top 10 in 3pt % defense during the season and were the best in the playoffs. Their defense has also been tops in the paint in the playoffs. But yeah I know, the Cavs had an easy road. But who did GS play? An inexpereinced Pelicans team. A physical but poor perimenter shooting team in Memphis and a flawed Houston team. The Clippers and Spurs were the toughest matchups for GS and they avoided both. There really isn't a whole lot of difference in the teams the Cavs played to get to the finals. Since they made those in-season trades to get Mozgov, JR and Shumpert (and Lebron's return from his two week hiatus) the Cavs went 14-1 against the West. Their only lose was to Houston in OT. But in that stretch they destroyed the Clippers twice, drubbed Memphis in Memphis, beat the Spurs in San Antonio and dominated GS in Cleveland. The Cavs don't have Love for the Finals, but Shumpert and Smith have filled the void from the perimenter and Thompson has morphed into Dennis Rodman on the boards. Everyone's got their opinion on how this series will go, but I think anyway saying GS in 4 or 5 games is insane. Lebron's got this Cavs team locked in on both ends of the court. People are saying it's him and a bunch of scrubs, when really this might be the most complete team he's ever played on. Those Miami teams that went to 4 straight finals had more flaws than this team has.
  13. Shumpert and Smith will be on Thompson. Shumpert will probably be on Curry a lot as well. They held the Splash Brothers to 10 of 30 when they last played. Warriors don't have anyone who can guard Lebron. Igudola and Green couldn't. It's going to be an interesting series, but I think the Cavs match up with the Warriors a lot better then the Rockets do.
  14. It wasn't that he left, it was how he left. If Lebron had just released a statement that he was signing with Miami people would of still been upset, but it wouldn't of turned into what it did. Lebron realized later he handled it the wrong way which is why he can see past what Gilbert said and the reaction of the fans. I mean if I dumped by girlfriend on national TV for another women and she burned any of my belongings in her place and posted a nasty letter to me on the internet, I think I would understand. It was a dick manuear.
  15. When is dropping the "people's elbow" legal? Al should of done a better job selling it.
  16. Looking at the regular season Lebron and Shumpert missed the first game against the Warriors, but the Cavs beat the Warriors last time they played 110-99. Lebron abused Igudola and Green scoring 42 points. The splash brothers were held to 10 of 30 shooting with Shumpert and Smith primarily on Thompson. Shumpert was on Curry some and did well defending him. Of the course that was the regular season and the Warriors were on the tail end of a long road schedule. For the Finals I think Thompson and Green will be a good battle on the boards. Obviously the Cavs won't have Love and Irving his gimpy, but the Cavs defense is better now and Warriors have no one who can defend Lebron. Curry will get his, but the Cavs have the ability to take away everyone else. It'll be an interesting series.
  17. After the game Kent Bazemore said the Hawks are still the better team. They're just playing bad.
  18. Adding Perkins (which it looks like is going to happen) to backup Mozgov and allowing Thompson to stay as a backup 4 makes their frontcourt defense much better.
  19. Maybe Fox is Dan Reeves. He's taken two different teams to the SB. And he won a playoff game with Tebow at QB. But to call him mediocre isn't fair. Dude's accomplished more in this league then majority of the other HCs.
  20. I'll have to to say it's been a strange offseason with the coaching changes. Seven openings and possibly eight if Garrett isn't re-signed. From the Harbaugh drama to Marrone opting out to Garrett not being re-signed yet after a 12-4 season to Fox being fired after a 12-4 season. How many qualified HCs are out there to take these jobs? It's more mediocre retreads and inexperienced coordinators.
  21. Seems like Rex wants to wait out Brady's eventual retirement and try to take over the AFCE.
