We’ll see how Jamin adjusts to NFL coverages. He’s got all the ability in the world but wasn’t asked to do much too much in college. Especially in man coverage. I think he will end up being very good but there may be some learning curve involved. But as long as he works hard that pure athletic ability will take him far...

Lamar Marshall! Haven’t heard that name in a while. Loved him.

Well agreed on that. I was just reacting to the idea that letting Moses go could mean we keep Scherff. I don’t particularly want either guy here long term at those prices.

Yeah this defense is basically built for nickel and dime packages. Great pass rushers, a couple good coverage LBs, and a deep, versatile secondary.

I don’t know if I’d be so sure about that. Rumors were that’s basically his starting point. At least as an AAV.

Can’t be much worse than FedEx so any new stadium news is good news I guess... sooner the better. -
Id rather have Moses at 8M than Scherff at 18M. But I think it’s a moot point, Scherff ain’t re-signing here.

Yeah I wasn’t thinking Collins for reasons that have been discussed as nauseam. But you’d think they might make a decision on Apke or maybe even Everett shortly...

As in, significantly increase the salary they are making in the last year of their existing contract? That seems unlikely, but after doing some research it sounds like the signing bonus for the extension WOULD still be prorated over the upcoming year, not just the years extended. So that could definitely be a factor here...

Check the free agency thread. Seems to just be the general offseason thread at this point.

Still... extensions aren’t likely to increase current year cap numbers... so why is it all of a sudden crucial that we clear Moses and Christian off our cap now, as opposed to later in the offseason in case there are OL injuries in camp? Makes you wonder what they might need cap space for right now... Maybe I’m overthinking it, but it’s very suspicious to me.

Well he’s right that trading for a top QB would require a lot of cap space. Drafting one wouldn’t particularly though. And either way I think we have a decent chance at some comp picks. I expect most of our big free agency moves will be re-signing our own guys. The timing of the Moses news combined with that report that we are one of the teams interested in Watson did give me a little tingle I’ll be honest.
